  1. ^I agree the song isn't his best, but I agree he's in decline too, you could see it with his previous album (it was more visible in other countries). To be fair to him, you can't NOT decline from his peak lol. I'm predicting his next album opens with 70,000.
  2. I saw in the US about a week ago that it was charting lower than one of her album tracks on Spotify.
  3. It seems the OCC have changed the credit of Summertime Sadness back to Cedric Gervais again?
  4. I think someone said here that it got bumped up a load of Spotify playlists in the weekend. I would assume that's probably the reason for the climb. It is suspicious, the likely payola going on with playlist placements, but that's not something that's unique to Ed Sheeran to be fair.
  5. I feel like very recently we've been seeing a LOT more "veteran" acts back in the singles chart, so I think eventually it might become more like the 90's again. The top 3 in the midweeks at the moment are Miley Cyrus, Calvin Harris/Ellie Goulding and The Weeknd, all of which were famous 10+ years ago. And it's not just this week, it's happened so much in like the past 9 months that I think some kind of long-lasting shift has happened and it's not just a random fluke. A few years ago I was actually slightly annoyed at how it seemed like almost all the hit songs were by new artists but I have no reason to be annoyed about that anymore lol.
  6. About the year-end #1, Calvin Harris got one with One Kiss that he released in April that debuted at #3 iirc. With the help of a bunch of heatwaves, it scraped past God's Plan at the very end of the year. His new one has debuted at #3 in March so it's got an advantage over One Kiss so far but I think it's very unlikely because if it was going to be such a mega-hit it would probably be #1 with a big lead by now on Spotify.
  7. Would you say that Better Off Alone is better off left alone?
  8. I'm not surprised Save Your Tears has re-entered. I haven't listened to it in a while but I've had it stuck in my head for the past couple of hours since I heard they did a new collab lol.
  9. It got #1 just from downloads of the album track. There was no CD, single version, radio edit, remixes, etc. It didn't really matter that much and happened a few times with US post-album singles back then because they were released earlier there so already had music videos so they would get popular from the Internet, and UK radio would normally start playing singles (both pre-album and post-album) a couple of months before their release date anyway. But it was still impressive and most UK post-album singles would peak on their release week, especially when their single version was different to the album version.

The game is fun. But it seems like it only has a small selection of artists. I keep seeing M0, Kyla, Bugzy Malone, Ozuna, Logan Paul, etc. Everytime I play it.
  11. I remember that it got to #1 like 2 months before its release date as well.
  12. Run This Town didn't really sound like a 2009 #1 and it was a huge collaboration at the time and also the first Rihanna song in a while, so people possibly thought it was a fluke that it got to #1. And then it just got overshadowed by Empire State of Mind. But I remember the music video was controversial because it had a lot of illuminati symbolism in it. It's a staple of conspiracy theory documentaries even today because of that. And the music video got deleted off YouTube for ages (maybe it still is), but I don't know if there's any connection there or if it was taken down for an unrelated reason.
  13. I voted for Tiesto, T-Pain, Katy B and and ATB. And they all have the "tea" sound in their names. Actually I've noticed that Katy B sounds the same as ATB with a "k" on the front. I wonder if there's ever been an Alexa mix-up with that lol. I bet there's someone out who asked to play ATB, got played Katy On A Mission and now thinks it's an ATB song.
  14. If Miley has another pre-album single then she might get an even bigger hit than Flowers like Olivia did when she released Good 4 U. But yeah, the odds of Flowers being the year-end #1 seem a lot lower now. I was a bit shocked when I looked at the Spotify figures a few days ago and she was on 5??,000 because it seems like yesterday when she was at 1 million.
  15. Wow somehow I didn't know or forgot that Afraid To Feel was released in 2020. I thought it was one of those songs that got released and became popular straight away.
  16. That Don't Impress Me Much seemed like the bigger hit to me although I guess all that really means is that whatever radio station my parents put on at the time played it more.
  17. What kind of song would Rihanna have to release to do well today? She has so many great songs but most of them would sound very out of place or dated if released today I think. I couldn't imagine something like Unfaithful or S&M or Shut Up And Drive or anything else being in the charts today. Maybe she could do something like SOS but for the 00's instead of the 80's, I think people would like that. I think Anne-Marie did something similar but I didn't like the beat on that one.
  18. I don't know who this is addressed to or what point it's trying to make. But yes. Auto-play is something millions of people see on Youtube every day. And it counts for the charts. The Lady Gaga and apparently Tom Odell songs are/were being played as adverts. That is exceptional and not something you see every day. And that doesn't count for the charts (anymore) I believe. Yeah especially back when Youtube was popular auto-play actually had an effect on the charts. For example, Don't Let Me Down by The Chainsmokers got a surge in Youtube streams after Closer became popular because it was such a common song to be auto-played afterwards. It seems hardly anybody uses Youtube anymore though compared to in the past. Seems like none of the recent big hits have made it anywhere near 1 billion streams for example.
  19. Lady Gaga got a top 10 hit in the US that way with Dope many years ago. But I don't think they count advert views in the charts since then and I don't think they ever did here, so I think it shouldn't have an effect.
  20. I like I Hope as well. It doesn't sound like a country song to me though, it sounds more like a Kelly Clarkson song.

I'm surprised Shivers is only 2,000 behind Bad Habits for this year so far. Has Shivers recently gone viral? Or is it going to end up ahead of Bad Habits in the future?
  22. Nice list. But surely there are loads missing? Like Jack U, Far East Movement, Pet Shop Boys, D12, Silk Sonic, Swedish House Mafia, Migos, Roll Deep, Erasure, THE BEATLES, Magnetic Man, Oasis, The Chainsmokers, LF System, The Cataracs, Major Lazer, Rae Sremmurd, Rizzle Kicks, Bad Meets Evil, Supermonde, Sidemen, Arctic Monkeys, etc. I'm going to stop because I could be here for hours.
  23. I've been into pop music for ages yet there is this genre I've never heard of all this time? I did a quick Google. Maybe it's a slightly useful category given how many genre-blending/undefined songs there are these days.
  24. He sampled Macarena as well maybe you'd prefer that one?
  25. To be fair, that doesn't surprise me. I called Sam Smith a "he" by accident once and I got a death threat. There are some very unstable people out there. I fully believe there are people out there who are offended by the term "Natural Woman".
