  1. It's possible, but you can never be certain this early on. Remember Driver's Licence somehow only ended up being 3rd.
  2. I can't find the version of Mr. Vain that I used to hear on Spotify. The song itself is on there and ive found a lot of different versions just not the one I heard in my childhood.
  3. It seems quite "easy" to get a hit without radio these days (it's not a near-necessity like it used to be) so Shakira would be fine without them I reckon. She mainly needs TikTok and streaming playlists I think.
  4. Yeah it's definitely not his worst imo. I only have heard a few of his songs but Sure Thing is one of his standouts. It was his only song that managed to be a hit in the US apart from Adorn (not counting collabs).
  5. I think Drake is definitely in decline. He's not as successful as at his peak. But really the same could be said of Justin Bieber, Adele, maybe even Ed Sheeran. They're still successful but they used to be bigger.
  6. Not sure exactly but the year starts and ends in the middle of November I'm pretty sure.
  7. Imagine a few years ago if someone told you that Kate Bush, Ashanti, Elton John and even OneRepublic would be high up the 2022 year-end charts.
  8. I saw a jukebox with Big Top 40 Show on it and I took pictures of it, but I can't upload them here? I guess I have to upload them to Imgur first or something? I would guess that perhaps they have some more extreme version of ACR for their charts. If you look, they've have LOTS of number-ones this year. And that might explain why songs late in the year can do well on this list too. Apple Music and Global Radio move very slowly it'd most likely be much slower than the official chart if they didn't have some system to speed it up.
  9. What is this chart calculated with now? Is it Global stations airplay + Apple Music? I can't make sense of it, like how can Anti-Hero be #2 AND Cold Heart be #6? Unholy is really high but BOTA and I'm Good are quite low. I guess they've maybe used a points system for this, that's the best explanation I can think of.
  10. How high do you guys think Mr. Brightside is going to get for New Years?
  11. It's odd how all the songs since the James Blunt song were really big hits. You would think so low down the chart there'd be some lesser-known songs popping up.
  12. Me too. I've liked it since it came out I can't believe it's so high in the charts now.

If any of you didn't already know, Lil Nas X used to be a regular poster on ATRL before he became famous.
  14. We are functionally an atheist country, as are all Western countries. We worship celebrities and corporations and money in this country so Christmas is about shopping and advertising and buying things. There's no esoteric or occult meaning to it anymore. When I was a child they used to have Epiphany on calendars, but it was so meaningless for us, I think we were normally even back at school by then. Honestly No Nut November is actually the closest thing we have to a spiritual/occult ritual that's practiced in Western countries. Christmas today is purely just about shopping and buying presents so it doesn't make sense to carry it on after Christmas day.

Months before its release I used to hear it at raves a lot and it got a fantastic reception every time. But when it got a mainstream release it didn't surprise me that it was controversial. Not everybody likes that kind of thing and it might not have been nice for some people turning on the radio hoping to hear Pink or Kelly Clarkson and to have Jack come on.

Yeah I think it'll be in the year-end top 10 tbh. Even We Don't Talk About Bruno seems like it'll be around #11 this year (which btw is also around where Let It Go finished iirc), and Escapism will surely have more longevity.
  17. Gotye definitely did have other songs. And one he released as a single afterwards. I remember listening to it and I remember it was in the top 1000 on iTunes for a while and I think charted on alternative charts in the US. Kimbra also had other songs.
  18. Yes, but most of them released other songs which either failed to chart or charted at like #156. So maybe the list wouldn't be as long as we think. It must be pretty rare for someone to get a #1 hit and then just not release anymore music. I think groups made just for a charity single might make up a lot of the list.

It wouldn't surprise me. Have you seen it's chart run there? It had a run at #1 early 2021 and another run at #1 early 2022 and was in the top 10 for almost the whole time in-between and probably a while after its 2nd stint at #1 too. In fact it was #1 the same week in two consecutive years. For something that's not a Christmas song it's really Incredible.

Can you imagine if Harry Styles didn't exist (or didn't release an album this year or released it later or had a less commercial lead single) then Bad Habits would be year-end #1 twice. Bad Habits has been a smash single for Ed, no doubt about that, its first day streams do not matter at all now haha. Although it was quite surprising at the time still.
  21. I only speak a tiny bit of Spanish because I lived there for 4 months, but I noticed that in English words that end in -ity are usually the same in Spanish but with -idad at the end. But as far as I know navity is not a word? :o I would guess nativity but that should be natividad in Spanish.
  22. I honestly think The Kunts will be #1 this year. They seem to be doing a lot better on iTunes, and once it gets even a slither of media coverage the sales will skyrocket imo. A song called f*** the Tories is probably the singular most popular thing you could release at the moment. Even the rich people and racist people seem to hate them at the moment.
  23. It definitely is a UK garage classic! It would probably be on most of the UK garage classics playlists, compilation albums, etc. And it really is a wonderful song imo.
  24. The most recent one that I actually like is Mad World.
  25. I strongly suspected it for a long time because fairly obscure artists I listen to keep appearing on big generic Spotify playlists, too much for it to be coincidence My #22 is One More Sleep by Leona Lewis.
