He's right that the proportion matters a lot though. If only 1% of the people who listen to Radio 1 from 4-7 on Sunday afternoon are specifically listening for the chart show, then releasing the charts on a Friday isn't going to make any significant difference to Radio 1's audience figures. If the proportion is 50%, then it will make a big difference. I don't know what the proportion is, but I'd suspect it's quite small. Most people who listen to Radio 1 during the chart show are probably just turning on their usual radio station, and would still listen if it was a "normal" day-time show on instead. They might be listening to the chart show, but they're not listening BECAUSE it's the chart show, if that makes sense.

I would like to see the European Hot 100 come back, but wasn't the reason they cancelled it simply because of lack of interest or something? Unless Billboard see there's an increase in demand for one I doubt they'll bring it back.

Madonna does seem to have gotten a bit of a boost. Usually these pre-order songs shoot up in the first couple of updates then free-fall, but this song started free-falling but then got a white and a green update.

Will the paid downloads of the free pre-order tracks still show up on the chart though (you can download them separately, right)? (Sorry if this is a stupid question, I've never actually used iTunes before :lol:).

imo 9TS Baby was even bigger, I heard that song so much (I even heard it as recently as this Friday).

Quite something to "sell" 166,000 of an album track! :o (Photograph hasn't been released, right?). And Bloodstream almost at 100,000 when it's just starting to get promoted.

I remember the first time I heard Feel The Love I found it so weird. It's very 'airy' and 'bright' compared to normal drum & bass songs, not to mention is has brass instruments. :lol: But it didn't take me long to fall in love with the song.

I'm sure this got released a few months back and didn't do much. Or did it get cancelled or something?

There were other years which I thought were really boring too in the first few months. I think 2011 was one of them, I remember songs like Yeah 3x, Champion, Price Tag spending absolutely ages in the top 10 just because there was nothing else going on. The last few months of 2011 were a huge let-down too, since 2009 and 2010 were so chaotic during X Factor season, and I expected it to be like that every year, but in 2011 there wasn't much happening. There was a week where Read All About It and Earthquake were released, and One Direction and JLS had hit singles, but I can't remember much else. I think Olly Murs had a song climb to #1, or was that a different year? My point is, this isn't the first time, and it could get better in a few months, although I think with streaming the chart is going to be slow forever now. The charts aren't that important anyway. Ever since I stopped listening to Capital/Heart regularly I never hear half the songs anymore. Even last year there was a song called Budapest which almost got in the year-end top 10 and I've still never heard it.

It's probably slightly different in every case if it depends on what it says in each artist's record contract, but it's true that possible that sometimes the main artist might not get very much, especially if they weren't involved in any other aspect of the song's creation other than providing vocals. Paranoid could've been a big chart hit for sure, but I honestly don't mind that much since the almost-identical-and-slightly-better Show Me did well in the charts anyway. There are versions of Paranoid without B.o.B. I remember before it blew up the version I was listening to had a different feature instead of B.o.B (I forgot who now, but the B.o.B remix ended up being the one that got airplay).

I've heard this song on the radio a couple of times. We've actually got someone famous posting here! :o There's NOTHING to worry about with Flo Rida remixing this song. He does unofficial remixes all the time, as do many other rappers. If anything it's a good thing as it'll make the song more famous like with Wish You Were Mine for example.

Rihanna's last album (Unapologetic) wasn't available for streaming, so maybe this one won't be either.

Maybe someone like David Guetta or Calvin Harris?
