  1. Yeah, the charts move way too slowly atm, but the songs that are chart hits have mostly been pretty good the past couple of years. I think we might be seeing more Ed Sheeran-type artists in the near future tbh as record labels will be wanting to make money and will see his success. Kind of like how after Amy Winehouse got successful you got Duffy, Adele, Estelle being big.
  2. This has happened loads of times before, I don't think it's a big deal, unless the second version prevents the top version from going #1 or top 10.
  3. I'm quite surprised at Ne-Yo's new song getting played on Radio 2.
  4. I've never heard this remix before, but a video of it on Youtube has over double the views of the original version's music video.
  5. Iggy is an imitation of Fergie (and other female rappers) if anything. I really loved that song!
  6. Yes, that Alesso song is FINALLY out of the top 10!! :D
  7. Most re-releases I've seen do something at least, even if they don't get a new peak.
  8. I don't think their 2nd album will be as big as their 1st, but I'm excited to hear the music of course!
  9. This was in the physical era though. I've looked at other chart runs from that time period and they're the same, fast climbs to a peak and then fast drops. Nowadays for big hits it's fast climbs to a peak (usually) and really, really, really slow drops.
  10. Can't see it doing better than Loyal (either in the real world or in the charts). It could peak higher than Loyal due to being held back, but no way is Ayo going to be in (or close to) the year-end top 40 imo.
  11. Eric_Blob posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
The songs themselves are pretty good imo, but the fact that all the songs listed so far, except for 7/11 are SOOOOOO OLD is quite sad. :(
  12. The only songs listed here I know/remember are: Keisha White - The Weakness In Me (which I would hardly describe as an "irrelevent" song...) Robyn - Call Your Girlfriend (I remember hearing this a few times on Radio 1) The name Alex Gardner rings a bell too, but that's probably just from people mentioning him on Buzzjack.
  13. 2014 was pretty huge for Kygo, I'm sure 2015 will be too.
  14. I wouldn't really consider it an underground song (anymore) tbh, since it's been exposed to a mainstream audience through Radio 1, Armand Van Helden, etc.
  15. I'm going to guess at 7 weeks. Sure it won't be too long (i.e. a few years) until we get another 10-weeker though.
  16. Didn't something like this happen with Turn Back Time by Sub Focus? It dropped out the top 40 then climbed back in and went top 10.
  17. Nearly all songs take ages to go up in this chart! I'm sure it'll end up a big hit eventually (i.e. top 20), given its chart success in the UK last year.
  18. Stromae is releasing a song in the US soon with Lorde, Pusha T and Q-Tip, but it's all in English I think.
  19. Fergie spent her last solo album copying all of Gwen's singles, so maybe Gwen should do it back to Fergie this time.
  20. This is debatable imo. Spotify was already pretty big and growing fast in 2010 (this is when I first started to use it) and streaming only got added to the charts in 2014. I think it was the sales decline late 2013 that made the OCC add streaming (maybe that and also other charts around the world starting to include it). I reckon of sales had carried on increasing they still wouldn't have included it yet, but the sales decline made them realize streaming is really taking over.
  21. I don't know. If million sellers continue to be sales only, there aren't going to be a whole lot in the future. Sales are still high enough that the biggest hits can sell a million, but in a few years it won't be happening. On the other hand, if you include streaming, it'll be easier than ever for songs to get a million.
  22. Is it actually "Sound Of" that has boosted all those songs, since a some of them (like Indecision, My City, Walk) are quite old and were never mainstream hits in the first place? Although I've noticed Walk has been high on iTunes in other countries surprisingly! :o
  23. The UK not being as friendly to soul-pop singers as usual! :o
  24. Judging by the songs will.i.am and Fergie have released recently (Feelin' Myself, It's My Birthday, L.A.LOVE), they're probably going to do hip hop.
  25. Well, I don't think they were ever that liked in the first place! I think if they reformed now they could be more successful than before.
