Adele - 30 (First Week Sales Predictions)
Yeah it genuinely seems like a horrible place to live. But it's a massive place and the rich and poor are completely segregated from each other, so for the celebrities, tech people and other "elites" it's probably quite nice. They have mansions and glamorous restaurants and nightclubs in secluded areas, often with literal gates and security guards.

Ed Sheeran - “=“ first week sales predictions
Ed Sheeran said in an interview years ago that he'll never get a hit as big as Thinking Out Loud ever again (which I agreed with at the time, a hit that big is almost impossible to top). But as we know he surpassed that in the end, somehow. So really in a sense his peak lasted longer than he probably expected.

Adele's supposed to be having a new version of Easy On Me out with Chris Stapleton next week so if multiple versions of songs continue to cause drama you may never know what will happen.

Friday Chart Predictions
Thanks! I don't know how I missed it (and it would have saved me about 5 minutes of scrolling if I didn't miss it ). What's funny is that I was actually expecting the longest thread to be to do with someone like Kylie, Madonna or Lady Gaga. On the topic of Kylie, I saw Ronan Keating interviewing her on TV recently, and they had a bit of banter because they had the same release dates for their albums which I found funny.

Friday Chart Predictions
Well, I had a look because I was interested, and I couldn't find any! This is the longest one so far! Although I did find a fair few in the high 20's and in the 30's, and one even with 34 pages (I didn't bother to check why though). You have to go back to Sunday Chart Predictions to find one longer. The last one that was longer that I could find was Rage Against The Machine vs. Joe McElderry in 2009 which was 49 pages!

OCC: The Wanted's Top 20 Biggest Songs
To me I knew easily it would be #2 before I opened the thread. The #1 is obvious also, and I thought it was amazing that it ended up being an even bigger hit in the US than it was here, really such an unexpected crossover. And I loved Alex Gaudino's remix of it too. My other favourites were Chasing The Sun, I Found U and Warzone.

Friday Chart Predictions
It's happened hundreds of times that an artist has released 3+ versions of their single in one week and missed #1. It's probably happened thousands of times honestly, and even with the biggest artists. Adele, for example, had multiple remixes of Set Fire To the Rain and Cold Shoulder on their release weeks and missed #1. I don't think it's embarrassing, I think it's pretty normal.

Well with BTS it took a few million stan tweets to make them famous.

Surely they must have had bucket loads of top 20 singles by now.

Spotify & Apple Music Chart Discussion
2 huge hits should never hurt. In my opinion the songs are quite similar and both electronic and upbeat so maybe that hurt the interest in his album. One of them should have been acoustic and/or a ballad, those are the songs people seem to love most from Ed, especially the full album listeners.

It's only a slow start compared to his last album. It's still one of the best we've seen in this country.

OCC: Adele's Top 20 Biggest Songs
Yes, it's true. Most radio stations started playing it the day after BRITs performance if I remember correctly (and interestingly, the first couple of weeks, THE actual BRITs performance got a lot of airplay rather than the album version), but it was 100% definitely an album track when it reached #1. It was the first time it ever happened I think. And I think it would have been #1 anyway even if radio decided to refuse to play it because it wasn't an official single. It was a long time ago so I can't remember perfectly, but I think there were rumours that Set Fire To the Rain was going to be the 2nd single Some post album singles before then did get to #1 1-2 months before their release dates (off memory ones like Airplanes and What's My Name? I think), but that was different, because they had the same promotion schedule as pre-album singles where they would get airplay 2-3 months before their official release day. So when they got to #1, we knew they were singles and they were already being played by radio. So amazing as those songs (or frankly any post-album single that gets to #1 is), it's different when it's an full-on album track that we weren't expecting to be released. And some might say "It's a single because it was performed on TV". It's not true. People like Jessie J, Ed Sheeran and Emeli Sandé and others performed album tracks on TV, nobody says they were singles today, theirs just didn't fly to #1 and have all the radio stations adding it to their playlists as a result, that's the only difference.

New Adele single
To be honest I think next time Maneskin release a song they'd be an easy #1, but if they're up against Adele probably not. If they did manage to beat Adele it would be historic though. But Adele will easily get over 1 million so it's very unlikely. And if she releases something as good as Rolling in the Deep again the numbers will be out of this world I think.

Who will be #1 on the 12th of November release week
Probably ABBA or Ed. Does anybody think Ed's album might actually do better than Adele's? I've learnt not to underestimate Adele because I did last time and was wrong, but I don't think the album will do as well as 25, and Ed's album probably won't do as well as his previous couple either but I think his decline will be smaller than Adele's. Obviously they are both hugely successful and will have mega-smash albums no matter what, but I'm saying I could see Ed doing 4 million sales long run and Adele 3.5 million for example, so I hope I don't upset anybody by saying this, and there's a good chance I'll be wrong anyway

iTunes Weekly Thread w/c 10th September 2021
99 Souls have a Buzzjack account. I'm sure there must be others too. Lil Nas X was a regular poster for years on ATRL which is like the US version of Buzzjack.

Friday Chart Predictions
I think 2013 - 2014 was the best time for dance music in the charts, at least in recent years. Drum & bass, disco/funk, UK garage and a few sub-genres of house all started making the charts simultaneously, and quite a few genuine underground hits ended up charting, a few even going to #1. I don't really know what it's like these days, but it's nice to see see Nightcrawlers, ATB and Tiesto all get smash hits. Although Tiesto's song is basically a MEDUZA song, I guess the days of Tiesto doing anything original are over. Rasputin is outrageous how similar it is to the original. The only thing Majestic contributed to the song was being a current trendy streaming name so it could get playlisted. It's a shame because Majestic has a lot of amazing songs and remixes, I think he could've done something really good with Rasputin if he'd actually done something. It even makes Barbra Streisand seem like an actual remix in comparison. Pitbull's streams have been skyrocketing recently so he might have a comeback like Sean Paul. I thought Calle Ocho and Hotel Room Service were great but a couple of years after that the songs he was pumping out were terrible. I think Friday should have been a #1. The song it's based off is one of the most iconic and legendary club songs of all time I think, it needs to go to #1 in at least one of its many forms.

Spotify & Apple Music Chart Discussion
In this day and age labels shouldn't bother picking singles in advance. Only with pop stars and maybe most dance artists they need to do that. With rap artists the public always choose the singles. It might be that way with rock bands too if Maneskin are anything to go by. Like with Pop Smoke's album for example, I don't know why they chose something before release. They could have just waited a week or two to tell Radio 1 what to playlist. His current single might be ineligible to chart the whole time now lol.

Haha that's true. Well he can do a Galway Girl re-release and a Wellerman remix to get the others back on board. For Wales maybe a Duffy collaboration would suffice.

Friday Chart Predictions
If I were Ed Sheeran I'd take my song off streaming for a couple of days if it looked like I was going to block Three Lions from #1. It would be a good publicity stunt and would probably make him and the song more popular in the long run. The whole ACR thing is good for speeding up the charts, but putting all songs more than 3 years old on it permanently is stupid and doesn't prevent the Christmas situation anyway, it was nice when random old songs would re-enter the charts for a bit in the download era.

Friday Chart Predictions
LadBaby is the biggest rock star of our generation.. He has 3 #1s under his belt, he just changes the words "rock & roll" to "sausage rolls" in all of the songs, but we haven't had any other artist propel so many rock songs to #1 in how many years? More than 20 at least, surely.

Spotify & Apple Music Chart Discussion
There have been too many cases of songs featuring even the likes of Drake or Ed Sheeran doing nothing being followed up by them getting massive hits shortly after for me to make that conclusion. It's probably happened to Justin himself before, I bet you can find an album track he featured on in the 12 months before What Do You Mean came out which didn't do well in the charts. I never liked What Do You Mean btw, he had so many better songs than that before which everybody hated on when they were released.

I know they've always been popular, but it seems like they've made a bit of a comeback recently with their past hits.

Lil Nas X should have done something like that with Montero, because a lot of modern-day Satanism draws from Ancient Egypt mythology. Like the pyramid is an important symbol for Satanists, and they use the Ancient Egyptian owl hieroglyph a lot, and they use the Eye of Horus/Ra hieroglyphs a lot as well to represent the all-seeing eye (in fact Katy Perry used that trick in her video for Dark Horse).

Official Chart Flashback
Freak Like Me is an amazing song. But I'm surprised that it only gets 40,000 plays a week now, I thought it would be more. Lots of "retro" songs get 300,000 a week on Spotify alone.
