  1. I think Ella Henderson might have a career like Alexandra Burke. Ghost and Bad Boys seem to have done similarly well. So if my comparison is vaguely accurate, then for Ella we could expect maybe a few more top 10 hits, another #1 and a couple more top 40 hits.
  2. I really hope they do push Prayer in C forward. Then it'd be best of both worlds. David Guetta wouldn't get #1, but Duke Dumont and whoever does Prayer in C both would, which is ideal. Maybe I'm biased in thinking Prayer in C could beat David Guetta next week since I really don't like his song, but I think it could, since the song is gaining ground so fast. Haven't heard Ella's song, but Sigma's song sounds like a sure #1 to me. It's soooo good. It's almost like a Rudimental track, so I'm always going to like it. :D Reverse Skydiving is a tune, but the song is tainted for me slightly since I embarrassed myself once when I heard the original song (the one it samples) and I got all excited thinking it was the new house version. :drama:
  3. Yeah true. There's other factors to take into account too, like Don't is likely to get more airplay overall since adult contemporary stations play him (although in this case Heart FM isn't playing the song, and opting for Thinking Out Loud instead so might not benefit him that much this time around). Heart FM doesn't play hip hop songs (only one I can think of they played recently is Same Love, and that was only night-time spins apparently), so Black Widow doesn't stand much of a chance of being played there. Also, I think Ed Sheeran is more likely to be doing TV performances than Iggy since he lives here (although Rita Ora does too, so who knows?). TV performances aren't a huge deal, but they can boost a song for a couple of days. I think Black Widow has a good chance of going #1 in the US, but not so sure about the UK. Technically Thrift Shop was a 5th single too, but I know that's not quite the same as it was also his break-through hit so felt like a 1st single to most people probably.
  4. I don't think it is compiled by the OCC, so really this isn't the official one. I also don't know why remixes of Cheryl Cole and Jessie Ware are in the charts. Makes literally 0 sense. They might as well just include every song in the chart since they probably all have dance remixes.
  5. Black Widow has been played on the radio for weeks already. I know it's not been on Capital or Radio 1, which are the main stations, but it's still something worth noting.
  6. If any post-album single is going to get to #1 I think it'd more likely be Don't, as it's currently doing better.
  7. Pretty much the same for me. Of his slow songs, only Lego House I kind of liked since I at least liked the melody to it. Very true. In the UK not so much since a lot of people were familiar with You Need Me his rap collabs, but in the US his only mainstream hits were The A Team, Lego House and that song he did with Taylor Swift, so really it was quite urgent he release something up-beat. If he left it too long people probably would've found it too weird, kind of like how we'd find it weird if Christina Perri or Birdy released something up-beat.
  8. You're probably right, but they don't bother me personally, so I'll be able to cope. I'm a bit worried for everybody else though.
  9. Wow. Look Right Through who? Usher and Alicia Keys beg to differ. :coffee:
  10. lol this. The song's promotion campaign has barely started, and it's already climbing iTunes. I'm sure it'll go top 40 at least.
  11. 2011 was obviously Adele. Rihanna's biggest years were probably 2007 (because of Umbrella alone), 2008 or 2010. In 2012 it was definitely Emeli Sande, she was absolutely everywhere that year (and 2013 for that matter :drama:). She was on TV probably every day. Runner up for 2012 was Rita Ora.
  12. I don't think instant grats are done to help singles success anyway. I think they're done mainly to get more people to pre-order the album, so if it succeeds at that it's fine.
  13. Of course it won't go #1. But I like the song. It gets the adrenaline pumping like POW did.
  14. I've heard it on the radio the past couple of weeks now, but not sure if Capital plays it yet.
  15. The Spanish version of Bailando at least might be up for download, since it's on streaming sites, whilst the English version isn't. It's such a catchy song imo.
  16. I heard that song in an advert the other day, I assume that's why it's back in the charts? 150,000 is very good sales for a song released in 2004 (you could be in the year-end top 10 with 250,000).
  17. Ah okay. I only heard of her last year, but still, I can probably find dozens of successful artists who took more than 2 years to get going. Black Eyed Peas, Sean Paul and 50 Cent got their major breakthroughs in 2003, but they were all releasing music since the late 90's. Imagine if any of them decided to give up after 2 years, they would have missed out on so much. Even recent breakthroughs like Iggy Azalea. She got played on the radio in the UK since 2010, but only got her first big chart hit in 2013. I think it's too soon to say Little Nikki will never have big success personally, although obviously it's a possibility. Well, that's good since he'd definitely miss top 40 this week. But even next week I'm not confident he'll make it. I wish Galaxy FM still existed instead of Capital FM, they'd be all over a song like No Mediocre lol.
  18. lol. It might take some people a few hours to scroll down the chart to find their position, so I think this thread will pick up around mid-day.
  19. What do you mean? She's only been around since like last year I think.
  20. It's doing okay I suppose, but I remember Leah McFall's song was top 1500 on pre-orders for ages and it missed the top 40, so I'm not sure that No Mediocre will get there. :(
  21. Well, it does help that it actually samples Show Me Love. I think it'll be the 3rd chart hit this decade to do so after Don't Wanna Go Home :puke: and Show Me .
  22. Lose Control was in the soundtrack to St. Trinians 2, which is probably why it's sold so much. Or people might have been getting it confused with the Missy Elliott/Ciara or Keri Hilson songs of the same title. :kink:
  23. Personally, I pressed 'skip ad' as soon as I heard her song. However, sometimes I've gone to listen to a song I've not heard before on Youtube and then listened to the whole song only to find out it was an advert.
  24. Never heard the song on the radio, but I saw an advert for the song on Youtube for some reason.
  25. We're okay for now, the changeover at #1 is still very fast, but in 5 years time I can see 5+ weeks at #1 becoming the norm, since by then the chart will probably be 90%+ streaming.
