  1. That's not what he said. Read it again. If you think someone has posted something ridiculous, it's always worth double-checking to make sure you didn't mis-read it. You said he mocked you before for pointing out (correctly) that dance songs usually fall on Sundays. So why mock him back? I assume you didn't enjoy it when it was done to you.
  2. I'm not 100% sure, but I think when it was VERY first out it actually was Tinchy Stryder ft. Dappy and they changed it to N-Dubz later, but obviously it was a held-back release so it was changed long before it was able to chart, etc. I just think this because most of the MP3 files that were going around before it was available to legally download always said "ft. Dappy" or "ft. Dappy (of N-Dubz)".
  3. It might just be a case of the good old Youtube algorithm lol. I still can't believe it was such a big hit in the first place. Does this really count as a "quiet" week? There's like 20 big pop stars who released singles this week, just none of them are charting. Bastille, Ciara/Chris Brown, Usher, Bebe Rexha/David Guetta, Ella Henderson, Sigala, Swedish House Mafia, Doja Cat, James Arthur, Meghan Trainor, etc.
  4. It's unfortunate the music industry is constantly changing with time and we can't compare songs' success well outside of their time period. But I reckon in the long run, decades into the future, things will balance out, because with each year that passes the late 10's streams become a smaller proportion of overall streams and older songs can gradually catch up. I think we're already seeing this to some extent.
  5. Can't be bothered to make an account, but I'd probably vote for: Better Than Today Come Into My World Giving You Up I Was Gonna Cancel Kids Other contenders are: 2 Hearts Chocolate I Should Be So Lucky On A Night Like This Red Blooded Woman Timebomb And Music's Too Sad Without You should have charted, I think it's a great song.
  6. I think it's probably to get more media coverage. If they announce one every couple of weeks then they have articles/posts written about it constantly. And probably by the time they're all announced other artists will regularly be trickling over the threshold so it can go on forever.
  7. There are a dozen+ policies which are mandatory in all Western countries (regardless of which political party is in power at any given time) which have a little effect on fertility, combined they have a very big impact on birth rates.
  8. He's not allowed to ditch the 2 child policy. I'm not allowed to say too much (but research for yourself if you're that curious) but it was decided decades ago as one of the many methods of reducing birth-rates. If Starmer goes around supporting or encouraging large families of the British in any way he will get Liz Truss/Jeremy Corbyn treatment and removed from power asap along with onslaught of hostile media coverage. It's that serious an issue. There's nothing he's allowed to do except pretend to support the policy. Also, as for the topic of being "skint", yeah, that's all a complete lie the things they teach about economics. There is an infinite amount of money. The most elite people in the world can digitally alter the balance of their own bank accounts on a computer to whatever they want, whenever they want. So they have infinite money. The mainstream media aren't allowed to report on this (with access to infinite money this is easy to achieve), politicians aren't allowed to talk about this (again easily achieved when you have access to infinite money), universities aren't allowed to teach this in their business/economics/politics courses, but you can find proof this happens if you do research.

That makes so much more sense haha. Thanks. Yeah I think Miley has this, at least 99% sure. For a song to sell 1.5 million (it might need significantly more) in 6 months it's going to have to be such a massive hit and we have no sign of one and with each week that passes it gets harder. I think the only other possibility is a song that's already in the top 20 YTD goes viral and becomes a hit again pretty soon, like what happened with Levitating in the US. I agree, I think Dave might have a chance of top 10 but it's fallen too fast to overtake Miley. Miracle which was another potential contender before I don't think can do it anymore.
  10. It's currently top 50 on the US HAC airplay chart (and this is counted for the Hot 100):

The whole top 22 is non-movers compared to last month. So I don't think the final list will look a lot different (near the top). Most songs will probably be a few positions out with a few new songs in the mix.
  12. They probably don't know who Dave is (although a few might because he did a song with Drake), but I've been astounded at Sprinter's success internationally. Songs by UK rappers used to be notorious for doing almost nothing outside of the UK and Ireland, like how does it happen that this one randomly gets #5 in Canada?
  13. I put 41-50k but I wouldn't be that shocked at anything between half or double that.
  14. It wasn't banned, just a lot of radio stations in the US played it less (or not at all) for a while because they thought it might be insensitive to the public. It did certainly tumble down the airplay charts faster than anything else I can remember (so it was still a remarkable incident), but it was still getting thousands of spins each week to an audience of at least 10s of millions after the "ban". It's hard to find a pop song that gets truly banned, I've even heard Ignition a few times in recent years.
  15. I think Arctic Monkeys or Doja Cat are good bets too. I think it's the right thing to do, it re-entered the Hot 100 top 50 before they announced it as a single, that's something you can't let go to waste imo. All the album tracks from her current album dropped out the charts fairly quickly considering their incredible first week performance. And The Weeknd and Chris Brown recently got big hits with songs from a few years ago too.
  16. This was an amazing post, thank you. Not really about the charts, but I first read your post about 20 minutes ago and thought to myself "I don't know who Rik Mayall is". And now I've just had a news article about him pop up in the "For you" section on Google News... Just wow. I knew Google spied on us, but I thought it was just like "User visits buzzjack.com = interested in pop music", I didn't think it went all the way down to reading all the text on every page.
  17. I think it might be getting released as a single because it's suddenly started getting a lot of airplay In the US (and apparently In the UK on Capital too?). It might just all be a coincidence but it's been viral for ages so a lot of stations starting to play it at the same time suggests there could be label involvement.
  18. I doubt it. They had songs in the year-end top 10 before didn't they? I'm sure those would've got #1 regardless. I think what's more interesting is how the album tracks would've done. Oasis probably would've had Ed Sheeran level domination at some point. And as a result things such as future singles might have been different and so on. And there might have been other Kate Bush moments which just wouldn't have been detected in the charts back then when it was only physicals.
  19. If anything it's probably the label milking it. An artist in that situation would most likely want the attention to be more evenly split amongst their other songs but there's not much he can do about that. I think most artists signed to major record labels aren't allowed to just go out and promote whatever song they fancy at the time.
  20. I've been thinking if Kylie's song keeps growing over the coming weeks and she can get like top 10 in the charts naturally, and then her label does Lewis Capaldi/Ed Sheeran strats she could get #1. She's one of the few people with the UK fanbase to pull that off.
  21. Yeah I think the song selection is not much different to how the radio algorithm worked normally. But the AI voice is cool. It sounds quite realistic and you get an experience a bit like listening to a radio station where it will make comments about the songs played. So probably even if you listen to very obscure music it will probably find something off the Internet to read out to you about the song played. If Thinking Out Loud got played the AI might comment on the recent court case, for example. Honestly if they add local travel and news updates into it wouldnt be far off the experience of a commercial radio station.
  22. The same happened to me. I got like 5 songs I liked and then it went to half a dozen payola songs, but after that it went back to interesting music. But I figured out why this is happening. The AI works by having lots of different categories. For example things like "Songs that you've listened to recently", "Songs similar to ones you listened to recently", "Songs you don't listen to by artists you listen to a lot", "Songs you listened to in 2017", "Editor's Choices", etc. The Editor's Choices category seems to be payola where record companies have paid money to have current singles they want to promote included in it (I got Jonas Brothers, Anne-Marie, Dua Lipa as well, so I think everybody gets the same songs). It also seems to be the 2nd category that comes up for everybody (it was 2nd for me and it seems it was for everybody else too). You can solve this problem easily, there's a big blue button you can press and it will skip immediately to the next category. It also tells you what category the music is being drawn from on the UI at the top where it would normally say the playlist/album/radio station. I continued to listen through another few categories afterwards and I did actually get some interesting songs playing (including songs I haven't heard before but like), it's just a shame about the Editor's Choices category because I didn't like any of the songs they chose to be honest.

^ Even just reading those song titles makes me feel things. Time flies.
  24. I think Taylor Swift, Adele and Harry Styles would most likely all do over 100,000 but I doubt any of them are releasing proper albums this year. Olivia Rodrigo is a long shot but her last album did extremely well, I think it's not far off Adele's latest in total units.
  25. Yeah, it's pretty obvious. They've chosen her in advance to be a big star and they've spent the past year trying to manufacture a rise to fame that seems organic and natural. But they've failed because it seems almost everybody can tell it's been orchestrated.
