Barrowman is saying on Twitter that his album had dropped to #42 but is now back up at #15 I must say that I'm a bit surprised about that.

Can I just say that #16 for John Barrowman is pretty good for an independent, fan funded album. :cheer: I wonder if its success will prompt any other artists to go the fanfunding route if they find themselves without a record label? (JB did it via Pledgemusic, at the suggestion of fans). It was great fun for the fans as well. as the money was raised by buying things (pre-ordering the album, tshirts, visits to the recording studio to watch it being made, and lots more goodies)

Barrowman also sells a lot of physicals. He also had a lot of presales (both physical and download) via Pledgemusic as the entire album was fan funded. (By 2219 pledgers, who would have bought at least 1 album each, as the minimum pledge was a preorder of the download album).

I assume that albums sold at gigs aren't included in the official charts? (I'm not saying that loads are sold at gigs, just curious)

Here, Here. I remember a few years back, when Rhydian and Barrowman both released albums the same week. Barrowman had previously been partly responsible for Rhydian not getting through to the live shows on ALW task to find Joseph, (because he didn't think he was suitable for that particular part, not because he didn't think he could sing). There was a lot of malicious glee directed by some Rhydian fans on some forums against Barrowman when Rhydian's album charted high, and Barrowman's (his 2nd for Sony) at the lower end of the top 40. They called Barrowman, amongst other things , 'a nobody' who had never done anything. I would point out that at that time I had actually bought a ticket to see Rhydian perform, and quiet liked him (and still do as a singer, even though not entirely impressed by his albums), so was in no way anti-Rhydian, but it p**sed me off that the Rhydian fans were completely ignoring Barrowman's nearly 20 years in the business in one form of another. I really don't understand it when some 'fans' slag off other singers. After all we all have different musical tastes. Anyway bearing in mind that Barrowman''s latest album has dropped out of the top 40 (not surprisingly with an album containing songs that most fans already have - I was actually surprised it got to no 12), and that this thread is about this weeks charts. I have to say, from what I've heard I like Joe's singing style on the current album. I also like Wills (though not as much as his previous one). I haven't bought either though (lack of funds). The last album I bought was Alfie Boe.

Barrowman top ten?!! Maybe because he's gone back to doing pure musical theatre rather than the pop stuff. I know he's been plugging the album like mad but no more so than the previous ones, which didn't make the top 20. The reviews have been generally very positive this time though Be interesting to see if he's still top ten by end of the week. I hope so. Its the best album he's done since Swings Cole Porter back in 2004.
