Mother has voted! Really struggled to get it down from my top 15 to 10 votes so a pretty strong semi imo! I also love FARC’s AQ !! It was annoying me that I recognised the beginning couple of notes/beats of it but then it clicked! It sounds just like the opening to Lifetimes by Katy Perry, lol!

BJSC 180 - JT - Girls Gone Wild Embracing the ‘180’ in Mother’s own way, Mothertopia is sending its first rap song to the BJSC! This is the first time a JT song has really grabbed my attention, and I think that’s because it’s a huge banger, lol. That chorus slaps, and I always find myself singing that “lemme stop, Chile” line!

This is definitely one of the biggest Semi’s since I joined which makes me a bit nervous! I went for the “180” theme a little bit as Mothertopia have never sent a rap song before. Don’t think they typically do well but with such a varied range in the semis maybe it can find an audience!

Was out last night at CMAT so didn’t get to follow along but what a great result for Miss Lexie Liu! So close yet so far from that top 10 result but still Mothertopia’s 3rd best result !! Thank you for all the votes and predictions!

BJSC 179 - Lexie Liu - X I wanted to send this because the first time I heard about Lexie Liu was through BJSC, and since then I’ve went away and listened to more of her music! In my opinion, this is probably her best song and such a massive banger! But I would not describe it as MUNA-esque so I don’t know how well it will do :p

BJSC 178 - Audrey Hobert - Thirst Trap Was a bit hesitant to send Audrey after Sue Me didn’t do too well in the spin off competition, but since I’ve started listening to her I really love her stuff. She has that (Dis-)Gracie Abrams sound but her lyrics are always so fun and playful and she seems really quirky and self aware… I’m here for her! And I just loooove that saxophone solo in the last chorus! Wow!

Wooo! Happy that Mothertopia is back with the smallest of Q streaks, lol! Semi 2 was ultimately pretty strong and I do feel like we’ve lost some good contenders there! Half Horse Half Man I will always remember you!

BJSC 177 - SAMIA - Lizard I first found SAMIA when she supported Maggie Rogers back in 2022 and I went and listened to a bunch of her stuff and really enjoyed it. This is (I think) the first single she’s released since I saw her live and thought it was great for BJSC… I love her “doooooooooon’t do it!” Fun fact - SAMIA is Kathy Najimy’s (of Hocus Pocus & Sister Act fame) daughter. But sometimes a nepo baby can slay x
