Jesy Nelson - Boyz (feat. Nicki Minaj) • 8th October 2021
I mean it's not unheard of for girl group members going solo to have a feature.. Camila was flopping until she released Havana and even Beyoncé had a feature on her debut.

Love (Sweet Love) • 3rd September 2021
The song is called "No" (According to insiders) although I'm holding off naming the thread that until it's officially announced on Thursday, it's the song teased in the video they posted. Insider confirmed this to be released mid-September (please don't hijack the thread over Jesy's debut clashing) @1427006326115348480 It's also the song Leigh teased with the above lyrics. Not sure what the parent album is yet - things point towards a Greatest Hits but it could also be a LM7 drop or just a fan single (which I doubt considering they've got a new logo) Snippet at the end @1426975374316081155 Weee, our first solo single since October, let's discuss x

Also not massively 10th Anniv related but Jax Jones apparently confirmed a collab with them on insta earlier this week

If this indeed a Greatest Hits watch it be November 19th. Wouldn’t be a Little Mix campaign without clashing with another artist 😭 (Although Fearless only debuted with 21k i believe)

What would everyone's genuine reactions be if they re-recorded the entire thing? i know they won't, cause Jesy IS a part of Little Mix's history, I'm just lowkey wishing they jush up some of the older tracks - tour variations would be nice. I wonder if this will be more "greatest hits" that includes some of the clunkers like mentioned above or a "singles collection" that is just back to back absolute smashes, they love nostalgia and being sentimental so I'm banking on a GH

this sounds harsh to say but i think at this point, until she changes the people around her, she's beyond help. fans have reached out to her to try and educate her and she just blocks them. the issue now isn't Jesy not knowing any better it's that she simply does not want to, she knows what the issue is - there is no way she has no idea, and she simply removes anyone from her vicinity because they go against her idea of her own image (which has been caused by years and years of conditioning and abuse but it's still no excuse) the team around her, including her friends, are toxic to her growth - she might think they aren't because they've helped her but they're not letting her social awareness grow and it's gonna hurt her in the long run. i'm sad because i was such a Jesy stan, she was my fav but i can't excuse this behaviour at all - until she actively starts to address things and learn i can't stan her, i'll checkout the song maybe but i won't be supporting her.

10th Anniversary Celebrations • The Plans
we have confirmation they're announcing something next week - I'm guessing a singles collection + the lead from that since they have "No" coming in September (last I heard) rounding off the LM4 era with a Greatest Hits before releasing LM7 in 2022 would be a nice closer to a massive era w/Jesy.

Oh yes, good points re: Christina and Miley, they were big culture vultures back in those eras, Xtina even looked like a black woman a lot of the time during her Stripped era, which just goes to show that it happens but doesn’t have any consequences and it’s so wrong.

So it's not about the way she dresses, the way she physically wears clothes is completely fine. It's how she presents her body through hair, make-up and other enhancements and the degree to which she does them. Tanning is fine for anyone, but overly tanning to the point where you are looking ambiguous or just simply not white anymore is a massive problem - this is the biggest issue IMO - lip lining/fillers are done by everyone and her hair is somewhat natural, just curled tighter. And then looking how she does Jesy is generally praised by the public and the media for looking how she does - whereas black women/black features tend to be criticised overly harsh by the media and public. White people who blackfish want to take all the "positive" aspects of being black without having to actually suffer any of the negative consequences that black people are subjected to. Then we move onto appropriation - so black hairstyles, such as cornrows, are black culture, they were created by black people, popularised by black people and so on - not only is typical white hair not genetically created to be put through the process it just isn't theirs to wear, because again they want to take 1 aspect of black culture and make it "popular" and "edgy" and "cool" as a white person but a black person is often called ratchet and ghetto and a whole other plethora of racist terms for having their hair a certain way. Curly/Straight hair is not native to one race, therefore a black woman straightening their hair or bleaching it blonde is not appropriation because straight blonde hair is not white culture, it's just more common, just as there are white people with curly, textured hair. Jesy's hair isn't appropriation but when coupled with the fillers and the attitude, the accessories (the fkn GRILL) and the tanning it pulls together to create an image of a black woman who is actually white. Cultural appreciation does exist, for instance in Japan people are encouraged to wear Japanese clothing such as kimonos, even when Little Mix went there themselves they wore them as they were encouraged to do so by their Japanese label/team as it shows a level of respect, but it is a very fine line, and it's hard to see appreciation a lot of the time because white people generally like to take what isn't theirs (coming from a white person) Adele is another person who teeters on cultural appreciation/appropriation - her vocal stylings and type of music are all heavily influenced by black music, particularly bluesy stylings from the 50/60s, an era of music that is credited to black people but taken by white people (Elvis literally stole the concept of rock n roll from black musicians) and she has always credited her inspiration to black women - however when she wore that Jamaican inspired outfit last year with that hairstyle, that was weird appropriation, but a lot of black people didn't mind because Adele grew up around black people and has credited them throughout - it's a very fine line and it isn't so black and white (so to speak) there's a lot of gray areas and I think it's a case by case basis sometimes. But a white woman wanting to kick off her era and using black images as her new image to appear more cool is just flat out appropriation and borderline racism. Not saying that Jesy is doing this, as tbh she didn't specifically do this for her new solo era, but a lot of women did this in the past including Katy, Ariana, Iggy etc. Ariana is still someone who is a bit sus, she has toned down her tanning a LOT but her over - and embarrassing use of AAVE is very cringe and tbh she needs to be held to the same standard that Jesy is - but I digress. I hope this helps understand it, there's a lot of resources on google that can be used too - I probably missed out a loads of examples. As white people, particularly white LGBTQ people we definitely need to do better when it comes to standing up and calling out racism and anti-black appropriative actions within the community and the industry

1) That's a lie, that's stans reading too much into things and trying to create drama from nothing 2) No she didn't, stop being dumb - you know for a fact that someone like Jesy has NO say over when the Cosmo post would drop, months of planning go into these things at the actual magazine company to keep things flowing, this would have been planned - it was just a very weird coincidence 3 /4 / 5 ) I can't argue w/that - because that's where the criticism should be, anything else is just pettiness. Actually, if you believed 2011 - 2018 Jesy was mixed race that's on you lol cause she didn't start heavily tanning until like the last 2 - 3 years, but she looked like any other white woman who tans. I'm not doing to defend her blackfishing (or if she releases/announces on their 10th anniversary) but i will defend her mental health choices because some of you still do not get it and it's very sad to see.

Whilst I’m not on the Jesy stan train right now- her behaviour only started recently that’s really worth questioning. Her leaving Little Mix, going solo etc is fine. Like up to 2 weeks or so her behaviour was pretty much fine, dont use this lapse in her image to insult her when she hadn’t done anything wrong.

Anne-Marie & Little Mix - Kiss My (Uh-Oh) • July
Wait are they doing an interview or something? But also they're def gonna continue as a Take That-esque group which is the best option, keeping Little Mix alive but exploring different avenues is their best bet. They've broken all boundaries as a girl group and now they can rewrite what it means for a girl group in the pop industry.

do we think she'll rejoin twitter at any point? or at least her team will join like Adele (who doesn't use it cos she got too drunk) i feel like not having twitter will impact her reach considering it's a lot easier to spread things around on there

Anne-Marie & Little Mix - Kiss My (Uh-Oh) • July
agreed, heartbreak anthem is still holding up well and whilst i don't think this will damage them in anyway they could've passed on this and then allowed the hunger for solo little mix in September to grow but oh well

Anne-Marie & Little Mix - Kiss My (Uh-Oh) • July
how are we feeling about this two weeks on? personally i don't feel like it's "aged" per se, but it definitely doesn't stack-up to the monster singles they've had in 2021 - the song definitely falls short for Little Mix's standards IMO, i feel like the only part that pops is the second chorus where Perrie leads it w/Jade & Leigh riffing over it. It's definitely a non-event as an Anne-Marie song it's sorta fine? I'm not a huge fan but this is something I expect from her, I just wish it had a bit more Little Mix magic included.

If Woman Like Me didn’t happen and LM still talked about her then I’d find it sus but they got their Nicki collab so I don’t see the issue. I think it’s amazing that her debut could feature Nicki after looking up to her for so long. Now if it was an Ariana feature.. 😭
