How is Stay Another Day not higher up? If you're going to do a cover of a classic, especially when you're a very credible artist, don't whatever you do make an utter b******s of it!

Should The Emptiness Machine have a couple of weeks' old chart history in the rundown?

  7. The right winner for me out of the songs that made the top 10. Great job hosting danG, my favourite thread of the year as ever, thank you
  8. Agree with the above comment about Doomscroller being a great gateway into Metric, whose entire discography I now love. And this very rate was my introduction to Doomscroller in the first place, so thank you Buzzjack! The #11-15 section has knocked out all my remaining favourites (Kaarija, Faded and above all my +40 Last Man On Earth). But delighted at Kaarija and Wolf Alice being so high. Physical, Escapism and Billie are the only songs left I much enjoy so I'm rooting for one of them to win, probably in that order.

These new rules are nonsense. So for example Arctic Monkeys could have been nominated for the 2007 Sound Of list despite having already had two No 1 singles and the fastest selling UK debut album of all time*? *(by a group? Can't remember exactly what record it broke)
  10. A superb section there. Anywhere is good pop, the other 4 are worldies. Doomscroller and Happier Than Ever were my +39 and +38 - delighted and amazed Doomscroller has cracked the top 20. Slightly disappointed that Happier Than Ever isn't pushing the top 10, especially as it might get swamped by her Hit Me Hard And Soft tracks next year.
  11. A strong 21-30 but perhaps more to the point I am *buzzing* that Metric, Cha Cha Cha and Last Man On Earth have all made the top 20! Of the group just to have gone, I really enjoyed Padam Padam and Miracle from artists I'm not usually that into. Happy to see them this high although, given the usual tastes on this forum, perhaps surprised they're not a little higher still. Tattoo also excellent and deserves to be top 25. The jump for I'm Good Blue is an egregious outlier for me in an otherwise very strong section!

  13. A lot of gooduns in that section, the highlights for me being belated proper recognition for the brilliant Two Weeks, and a new peak for Wolf Alice's second best song in this top 100 😝
  14. In intrigued what their sales will be, no idea what to expect, wouldn't be surprised with anything between 30k and 70k
  15. I'm also excited about how many of my favourites haven't appeared yet...
  16. Great to see Kill v Maim almost hitting the Top 40 (though I'd definitely swap it with Flesh Without Blood as her top track personally!) Impressive consistency for Tilted, I'd like to see it consistently 10 or 20 places higher ideally. Totally agree with DanG about Chandelier. While it's never quite made the very top section of my votes, it's undeniably brilliant and for it to have just the one year scraping into the top 10 feels like we've undervalued it a bit on here.

  18. I'd be here for a top 10 including Sam Fender and 3x Linkin Park on Friday!
  19. Excellent 63-62-61 finale to that section. Happy to see Sign Of The Times back up higher where it belongs - easily my favourite song of his. Very much here for Chemical Brothers cracking the top 100. And Ghost is obviously great. Thought Vampire might be a bit higher too.
  20. Disappointed to see Shum fall so sharply as it's brilliant. But taking a step back, still amazing to see it so high overall! I gave a fair chunk of points to What Was I Made For and Trustfall, thought they both might have made it to the Top 50.
  21. Happier Than Ever also gets a good chunk of her vote. Cumulatively across all her songs, she'll do great in this rate. But I'm not sure she has one specific song enough people get behind to actually win it.
  22. Shame Out Of The Woods has finished on a drop, it's in my top 3 favourite Taylor Swift songs. Wow at MGMT, hope that bodes well for some of the indie stuff still to come.
  23. No big losses for me in the first 10. ABBA, Spaceman and Bury A Friend made my minor points places. Glad Greedy didn't get any further, find it very grating.
  24. The voting seemed a bit more mixed this year so could be anyone's. Of the newbies I think Loreen and Kylie will have done well. Fka Twigs is my dark horse for doing better than usual.
  25. Thank you for editing, and noted for future!
