  3. Buzzing at my nomination for Metric getting within 7 points of AQ! Although in probably my least favourite year of this rate, it's also disappointing to see Metric narrowly miss AQ and my other favourite Four Out Of Five narrowly miss SF

Thanks Gezza for all your efforts hosting such an epic rate. While I don't agree with some (a lot!) of my fellow voters, it's been great fun
  5. Just catching up with the last few days' numbers... incredible hold for Linkin Park! Was expecting one day in the top 10, one more in the top 30 and then a fairly steady descent out of the top 100! Deserved - great song and a better relaunch than I dared imagine

That's me out. I gave ABBA points due to weight of memorable hits and great comeback singles a couple of years ago. Find their studio albums too hit and miss to be really into though (Voyage being a perfect example - Little Things, really?!) The top 2 were nowhere near my votes but would prefer to see the Spice Girls win on the basis of cultural impact, their total dominance of pop culture in the second half of 1996 is an early cultural memory for me.
  7. Started easy but soon got a lot harder...! I've got about half on the first go

Very true - overall this thread has been great fun!

There's no having a go, or saying female-led pop groups (which they are, don't need quotes, the top 6 groups are all pop groups with female lead vocals) are invalid. It's just disappointing that the results have turned out so slanted in one direction that a much more restricted rate would have given the same result. I was hoping the top end would have included a broader tapestry. I'd have been equally disappointed if the top 6 had been Pink Floyd, Beatles, Oasis, Radiohead, Muse and Arctic Monkeys.

It's more the fact that a rate for "Favourite Female-Led Pop Group" would have returned the exact same top 6 as the rate for "Favourite Group"!

Spotted that too, I think 20 of their 21 voters gave them +18 or more? For me this rate has hit its full jump the shark moment after a few close calls lower down, not really sure what to say any more!
  14. That would be really helpful, this is the only forum I use so just didn't clock that there was another quiz in progress.
  15. Looking forward to this but have I missed a quiz somewhere (week 2?) - I've only seen pointless so far.

Tend to agree, think Freddie would be just about my first choice if asked to pick great all-round male pop & rock vocalists!
  17. Some great climbs into the semi final zone, nice to know there'll be quite a few songs I'm excited to vote for when the semi final comes around

Jeezo, my slam dunk #1 and #2 in this rate out in #7 and #8. Couldn't care less the order of what's left 😂

Having not seen the results from last time, my initial reaction was disbelief at some of the acts the Beatles must have finished beneath in this rate. But reading all the comments, I guess this time round is actually a marked improvement! Number 8 still seems very low to me. Admittedly I only gave them +17 but assumed they'd have broader support than some acts still to come.

Happy to see The Killers up here, though they didn't make my votes. I've got most of their albums but just don't find myself going back to them that much. However a few specific songs I love and will still play often (e.g. Tranquilize, Read My Mind, Dustland Fairytale) Coldplay a bit similar (fave songs being Champion Of The World, Up And Up, Us Against The World) but their old stuff has aged better for me hence giving them a chunk of points.
  23. Oops, I misremembered One Direction as the group that did well in the Diana Vickers / Alexandre Burke year of X Factor, 2008. (I don't know any One Direction album release dates so was working it out on the basis they'd have released their debut album the year after X Factor, whose dates I do remember quite well. 2008 + 1 gave me my answer of 2009). But that was of course JLS. Schoolboy error.

The Saturdays 🤣 . Didn't even cross my mind that they'd be this high. Up and Ego are bangers. But that still leaves them some distance from being the 13th best group in the history of music, I would contend...

Just as well you ran this rate before dynamic pricing!
