  1. That would be really helpful, this is the only forum I use so just didn't clock that there was another quiz in progress.
  2. Looking forward to this but have I missed a quiz somewhere (week 2?) - I've only seen pointless so far.

Tend to agree, think Freddie would be just about my first choice if asked to pick great all-round male pop & rock vocalists!
  4. Some great climbs into the semi final zone, nice to know there'll be quite a few songs I'm excited to vote for when the semi final comes around

Jeezo, my slam dunk #1 and #2 in this rate out in #7 and #8. Couldn't care less the order of what's left 😂

Having not seen the results from last time, my initial reaction was disbelief at some of the acts the Beatles must have finished beneath in this rate. But reading all the comments, I guess this time round is actually a marked improvement! Number 8 still seems very low to me. Admittedly I only gave them +17 but assumed they'd have broader support than some acts still to come.

Happy to see The Killers up here, though they didn't make my votes. I've got most of their albums but just don't find myself going back to them that much. However a few specific songs I love and will still play often (e.g. Tranquilize, Read My Mind, Dustland Fairytale) Coldplay a bit similar (fave songs being Champion Of The World, Up And Up, Us Against The World) but their old stuff has aged better for me hence giving them a chunk of points.
  10. Oops, I misremembered One Direction as the group that did well in the Diana Vickers / Alexandre Burke year of X Factor, 2008. (I don't know any One Direction album release dates so was working it out on the basis they'd have released their debut album the year after X Factor, whose dates I do remember quite well. 2008 + 1 gave me my answer of 2009). But that was of course JLS. Schoolboy error.

The Saturdays 🤣 . Didn't even cross my mind that they'd be this high. Up and Ego are bangers. But that still leaves them some distance from being the 13th best group in the history of music, I would contend...

Just as well you ran this rate before dynamic pricing!
  13. I play it like I was on Pointless on the TV... if I don't know any valid answers to the question, unfortunately that means failing the question
  14. Not knowing any Pet Shop Boys album titles and (later on) not knowing any Nicki Minaj ones either is killing what otherwise has been a strong quiz for me so far!
  15. I was annoyed about Q1 as the three pointless answers were 3 of the 5 on my shortlist along with Charli and Post Malone, so I picked the worst option. Gone well since then. But will fall off a cliff later as there were two questions I didn't know any answers to (and I try not to Google on these quizzes)

Two very solid pop acts there. Only gave them a combined total of 3 points but (depending on how you define the term) would consider them the 'best boyband' and 'best girlband'
  17. Sorry to be a pain but I've edited my votes again. Just heard London Grammar - Rooting For You for the first time and had to get it straight into my votes. Absolutely astonishing vocal. I've put it as my +22 and shuffled everything below down by one place.
  18. Just edited my post as the bottom two in my list had got cut off. If the host has already submitted it into the supercomputer, please re-submit!
  19. Think I must have followed music less closely in the 2016-2019 time period (or just liked less of it) as I struggle to find more than 15-20 I want to vote for during these years. Adore the top 8 or 9 here, then it drops off fast. +30 alt-J - Adeline +29 Arcade Fire - Creature Comfort +28 Big Thief - Mary +27 Arcade Fire - Everything Now +26 LCD Soundsystem - Oh Baby +25 Wolf Alice - Don't Delete The Kisses +24 alt-J - 3WW +23 Lorde - Perfect Places +22 London Grammar - Rooting For You +21 Harry Styles - Sign of the Times +20 CamelPhat & Elderbrook - Cola +19 Dua Lipa - Be The One +18 Lorde - Green Light +17 Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee - Despacito (Original ONLY) +16 Rita Ora - Anywhere +15 Sufjan Stevens - Mystery of Love +14 MGMT - Little Dark Age +13 Bicep - Glue +12 Pink - What About Us +11 Killers - The Man Edited to add London Grammar as +22 and shuffle everyone else down one place

I was hoping to see Radiohead a bit higher given how well they've done in a few other rates on here, e.g. No Surprises winning the best #4 rate. Certainly seeing them below S Club 7 is quite something 🤣. Anyway, glad they're at least top 20. An absolute genius band at each of their many evolutions.

That's a pretty savage last 3 revealed before the top 20. Didn't vote for Arctic Monkeys but would have been happy to see them in there. Blur are outstanding across 30 years and one of my favourite bands ever. And Muse used to be my favourite band ever bar none, though have dropped off considerably since album 5 (barring Drones).

Erasure and Depeche Mode each have a couple of songs I love but I don't know enough of their overall catalogue to consider giving them votes. Good to see the 80s well represented in this section!

Manics were on the cusp of my votes, pleased to see them so high

Having not looked at the results from the last running of this rate, I'm getting plenty of surprises. I'd have given long odds on No Doubt being the first act with 13 voters! Imagine Dragons and Atomic Kitten this high? Less surprised at Maroon 5 being so high but I can't stand them so am relieved it's not higher!
