Not knowing any Pet Shop Boys album titles and (later on) not knowing any Nicki Minaj ones either is killing what otherwise has been a strong quiz for me so far!

I was annoyed about Q1 as the three pointless answers were 3 of the 5 on my shortlist along with Charli and Post Malone, so I picked the worst option. Gone well since then. But will fall off a cliff later as there were two questions I didn't know any answers to (and I try not to Google on these quizzes)

Two very solid pop acts there. Only gave them a combined total of 3 points but (depending on how you define the term) would consider them the 'best boyband' and 'best girlband'

I was hoping to see Radiohead a bit higher given how well they've done in a few other rates on here, e.g. No Surprises winning the best #4 rate. Certainly seeing them below S Club 7 is quite something 🤣. Anyway, glad they're at least top 20. An absolute genius band at each of their many evolutions.

That's a pretty savage last 3 revealed before the top 20. Didn't vote for Arctic Monkeys but would have been happy to see them in there. Blur are outstanding across 30 years and one of my favourite bands ever. And Muse used to be my favourite band ever bar none, though have dropped off considerably since album 5 (barring Drones).

Erasure and Depeche Mode each have a couple of songs I love but I don't know enough of their overall catalogue to consider giving them votes. Good to see the 80s well represented in this section!

Having not looked at the results from the last running of this rate, I'm getting plenty of surprises. I'd have given long odds on No Doubt being the first act with 13 voters! Imagine Dragons and Atomic Kitten this high? Less surprised at Maroon 5 being so high but I can't stand them so am relieved it's not higher!

Ugh almost all my favourites making big climbs but narrowly missing AQ, and then Disturbed and Kygo both a point short of deserved SF places.

I'd definitely have given Florence a few points but always think of her/them as a solo artist not a group so never crossed my mind for this rate

Wow at Saint Etienne. I love He's On The Phone (a cruel #11 peak) but don't know much else by them and wouldn't have guessed in a million years their name would come up this high. Will have to check their other stuff out. REM have some great songs but aren't a particular favourite of mine overall. Unlike the Chemical Brothers who are my favourite dance group. Echo what the earlier posters have said.

Perhaps unsurprisingly for someone with mainly indie & alternative taste, a lot of my favourites have fallen before the top 50. Arcade Fire the latest biggie to go, consistently strong with every album having at least a couple of absolute worldies on it and Funeral in particular being an all time classic. I went to their tour the week after the allegations about Win Butler broke and it was a weird vibe, so can understand why they might have been swerved by a few folk in this rate.

Of all the acts I could have seen live but haven't/didn't, The Prodigy are the one I regret the most. Must have been incredible.
