Melanie C - 'Melanie C'
With the streaming era an artist builds towards an album release. It's better to release 3 singles before the album and one afterwards. Streaming doesn't allow for multiple singles after the album release.

Melanie C - Chart Discussion Thread
I stand by Numb being the first single from VOM. With a fresh and exciting music video, Numb could have garnered Mel some new fans. Sure, it probably wouldn't have been played on Radio 2, but it would have been a good introduction for the new era.

Melanie C - Chart Discussion Thread
I wonder if Version of Me could have been more successful if they would have applied the same release strategy as her self titled era. In 2016 streaming was the new norm. Melanie's team released Version of Me with a outdated release strategy. In hindsight they should have done Numb (May) Anymore (July) Room For Love (September) Version of Me album (October) Dear Life (November) Before 2020 Melanie's monthly listeners on Spotify was 500,000, which was terrible.

Mel B - 'Hot'
What does everyone think about this leaked track from Hot? It was written by Mel B & Biff Standard. There's another 2 unreleased songs on publishing sites. Both written by Mel B & Biff. They are called Rush and Miss Me.

Melanie C - Greatest Hits - Your track-listing...
I really like the idea of a Singles/B-Sides collection. Prince released one when he was alive and it was fabalous. Causal fans will buy it/stream it for the singles, but will discover some hidden gems with the B-Sides. Maybe for the 25th anniversary of Northern Star in 2024 she can release this collection along with a vinyl release of Northern Star.

Melanie C - Chart Discussion Thread
Her social media team is not doing a great job. They should be posting on Twitter and Instagram everday. Melanie also should have been on TikTok this era to try and reach a younger audience. She has done a lot of press interviews and her social media never shares those. As a fan, you have to find those on YouTube yourself. Melanie is doing her career a disservice by not engaging on social media more often. Sorry if this sounds too negative, but there's always room for improvement. This has more to do with her team than Melanie herself.

Melanie C - 'The Sea'
What was interesting visually about it? I can't think of anything. It's one of her worst music videos. She is just standing in front of a cheap green screen the entire time. Unpopular opinion alert, The Sea is somewhat overrated. I can't wrap my head around how so many fans dismiss Version of Me and rank The Sea above it. The Sea might have higher highs than VOM, but overall the latter has better production and is a stronger body of work. Take away the top 4 tracks from The Sea and what's left is very hit or miss. My favorite songs from the album would be Drown Weak Enemy Think About It Burn All About You

Spice Girls - Radio Airplay: UK
This Time is a terrible album. Like you said Sammy, she was chasing that FDOML high. There's a few good songs from that era (Already Gone, Understand, Forever Again, Out of Time). Most of the rest are trash. The Moment You Believe is a good song as well. In hindsight it would have made for a better Spice Girls greatest hits single than Headlines. My main problem with This Time and Beautiful Intentions is the production. The songs sound like they were produced on garage band by a first time producer. The majority of the songs from those albums sound like demos.

Love this Jay. Very interesting. Thank you for posting this info.

Melanie C - 'The Sea'
Think About It was her big comeback hit and she spent nothing on the music video. Terrible release strategy with the song. I'll never understand it.

Melanie C - 'The Sea'
Mod Edit: Above quote taken from Melanie C's chart topic, I thought it would be better for the 'The Sea' chat to continue in this topic instead, so I've moved the posts! The Sea deserved so much better, but her marketing team made some horrible decisions. There was no hype for the album. The single choices were all wrong. Had she built momentum towards the album release, it definitely would have gone top 20. This strategy is exactly why her 8th album has done so well. Imagine Burn (May) Think About It (July) Drown (September) The Sea album (October)

I'm so happy for Mel. She deserves all the success with this album.

Melanie C - 'Reason'
Most fans have a negative view of Reason because it was a commercial failure. It's also a more laid back, chill album. Spice Girls fans were expecting Northern Star 2.0 and were disappointed that wasn't the case with Reason. There were plenty of mistakes made with the Reason era. The track listing, the single choices, Mel's image, etc. Had those things been correct, Reason probably could have sold half of what Northern Star did. Instead, it sold a measly 100,000 copies.

Spice Girls • General Discussion
Give me that dark, moody Bond song. Something in the same vein as Take Me Home.
-
Melanie C - 'Reason'
Yes! Justice for Reason. So many great tracks during this era that doesn't get enough love. Love To You is one of my fav from this era.

The Wannabe remake music video is a stupid idea. Thank the pop Gods it's not happening.

A top 5 debut would be amazing. Fingers crossed!

Predict again: Where will 'Melanie C' chart in the UK?
I really hope Mel can hang in the top 10. She really deserves it. A #11 or #12 would be heartbreaking.

Melanie C - 'Melanie C'
A very solid album. The only song I'm not really feeling is Escape. Overload and Good Enough deserve music videos.

Victoria Beckham - 'Victoria Beckham' (VB)
Like That is my favorite song on the album. What a bop! Victoria should have played into her posh, rich lifestyle persona instead of marketing herself as a down to Earth woman with a naughty side. Not Such An Innocent Girl was a terrible single choice. Victoria was 27 years old and married with a child. Did anyone really believe Victoria was an innocent girl? Come on......

We'll probably get one new song and it will be worse than Voodoo.

I really hate this animated feature film idea.
