So does a B-side only count to a lead single's sales if it's bought in a bundle, like an EP for example?

Anybody else find it ridiculous that B-sides supposedly count towards a singles sales? THEY ARE DIFFERENT SONGS! -_- Anyway, guessing Pixie Lott has this #1 in the bag.
