ROUND 3: One Direction Solo UK Top 10 Hits Survivor
Might have to be For You now. This is very hard.
-
Ed Sheeran - Old Phone
I've only listened to this once. It's good but I prefer Azizam. This is a bit "Ed by numbers". With how things are going chart-wise this era, I think we need to stop expecting huge things. I would imagine Ed is starting to think the same way.

Round 7: Year End Survivor #113
Sticking with Will Young and expecting it to go now

The Posters' Chart: 4th May 2025
Busy personal week kept me away from BJ this week a bit so was expecting a bigger drop. Wrong week to "release my CDs" the previous week as my 54 posts would have taken me to #12 this week but only #17 last week!

The Gallup Years- Top 10 Sales- 1989
Ride on Time is one of my favourite songs. Still love it to this day and played it obsessively back in the day. Became a fan of Shakespear's Sister. Wasn't the name spelt incorrectly because of an error creating the logo for the band or something?

Favourite solo spice #1
I pondered on I Want You Back, but ended up going for Bag It Up first.

Have you seen any Eurovision artists live?
Bucks Fizz (twice - 1991 (Cheryl, Mike and Boddy) , 2011 (Cheryl, Mike and Jay) Scooch - 2023 Swindon Pride Sonia - 2024 Swindon Pride Supposed to be seeing Blue as support to Olly Murs later this month but looking likely I might have to miss it now.

JADE - FUFN • 3rd single
The theme of the song is anger in a relationship and moving away from it. It needs the beat etc of the original. This new version just doesn't fit the sentiment. The swear words even less so. One play was enough.

Least favourite Lady Gaga 2nd single ● ROUND 5
So this is going to be tough from here on in, but going for Rain on Me

The Gallup Years- Top 10 Sales- 1989
I became a Martika fan immediately and bought her albums and all subsequent singles. Toy Soldiers is an absolute tune!!

90s Top 10 sales- Week By Week- 1997
Love Torn. Such an amazing track that has stood the test of time and still sounds brilliant today. And then there's Peter Andre...

Song Covers SoundClash #40
I went for Spicy. Never heard either before but Say You'll Be Mine is one of my least fave Spice Girls singles and the voice on the cover is whiny and horrible.
-
The Gallup Years- Top 10 Sales- 1989
I like Wouldn't Change a Thing and always have. The cover image is not great and the video was a bit pants, but the song itself isn't bad at all.

Song Covers SoundClash #41
It's got to be Muse. Lighthouse Family were one of my least favourite bands ever. Pedestrian rubbish.

The Gallup Years- Top 10 Sales- 1989
The Bros song is definitely a step down from their first as album, but it still wasn't bad. Lil Louis was a dreadful song. And Jive Bunny was just hideous. Absolute tosh that ruined the charts at the time.

Streaming Services Chart Discussion; W/C 25/04/25
I've thought about this for a while... If TikTok hits do well, is it because after hearing the song on TikTok people then actually seek the song out to listen to, ask Alexa to play it, or put it on their own playlists. Which means it is genuinely a popular song rather than just being something that is passively listened to through a playlist? That's better, isn't it. Because it means they are hits because people want to listen to them.

Round 6: Year End Survivor #113
Will Young next.

Round 3: Year End Survivor #114
Pink. I didn't go for her to begin with, thinking it would be a wasted vote, but it's the worst of what is left.

Capital FM Summertime Ball 2025
I think Mae did okay. She got an album out there and a Top 10 single. Olly Alexander seems to still be in the media a lot. They still get the attention for a short while. Otherwise, why would anyone even consider giving Remember Monday a big gig when Eurovision will be done by then?

Capital FM Summertime Ball 2025
I guess the UK Eurovision entry usually becomes a bit of a "national treasure" for a few months after the contest, regardless of how they do. This looks like an impressive line-up, but I am surprised anyone thought Mariah was relevant enough to be a "big" name on this anymore

Calvin Harris & Clementine Douglas - Blessings
This sounds good. Could be a (very) early summer banger. He certainly needs to get something out there and move on from Smoke...
-
The Gallup Years- Top 10 Sales- 1989
I wonder who thought putting a single male dancer, about a foot taller than Sonia, on the stage to dance awkwardly around her? Always seemed odd to me. I like the Gloria Estefan track.

JADE - THAT'S SHOWBIZ BABY! • 1st Album
I guess the pre-order will be up throughout the summer and then release it when the shows are about done. But it's another delay and there's only so many songs you can release before an album. I guess some might not be on it in the end - thinking Midnight Cowboy and maybe even Fantasy could get relegated to a deluxe? Or maybe vinyl will end up with a different tracklisting (as it's apparently already finalised) and that would boost sales with die-hards buying multiple copies?
-
Ed Sheeran - Old Phone
This sounds pretty good. Guessing it's going to be more Ed & Guitar rather than having an uptempo beat behind it.
-
Ella Henderson - Me and You
Oh that sounds okay. Kinda keeping the country vibe but making it more pop. Wouldn't have blamed her for dropping country after her last single didn't make the Top 40 (but did okay for an Ella solo track)
