UK Singles Chart without Christmas songs (2024 version)
Not sure if I'm not getting something here, but this has been posted in the Top 100 thread with Tate 2 Hands at #40. Lady Gaga Disease is then at #42 with Hot To Go at #41.

EastEnders
They could do a new twist on an old classic using Davinder and Ravi... "You can't stop me seeing him...He's still my Grandad" "NO HE'S NOOOOTTTTT!!!!"

EastEnders
Can someone please take Linda's alcohol away. She's really getting on my nerves now.
-
Disease ● 2nd single
I recounted and still got 46 Christmas songs... But regardless it's chart history will always show much lower and it's unlikely to regain much traction in January.
-
Disease ● 2nd single
#86 in the midweeks. Without Christmas songs it would be heading for a seventh week Top 40 (though only just at #40)
-
What's your ultimate Christmas classic?
I voted for six, but Top 3 is Merry Christmas Everyone Driving Home For Christmas One More Sleep

Griff - last night's mascara
Heard this for first time on Radio 1 this afternoon. What a great song. So deserves to be a hit. It's a shame that although she is always supported by R1, she doesn't seem to get enough playlist support to get a decent hit.

EastEnders
Oh dear God. How is he still in it?
-
Disease ● 2nd single
With 31 Christmas songs above it... so without the influx it would be set for a sixth week Top 40.

Streaming Services Chart Discussion
When I asked Alexa to play Christmas music on Saturday, Last Christmas was the first song on Amazon Music... even before their Tom Grennan exclusive!

35% Off Entire Kylie Store - Black Friday Sale
I actually contemplated a padambrella, but I can't justify £50 on something I would neither use nor display.

Impossible Princess ● album discussion
Just been reading on Wikipedia about Impossible Princess' initial release and it says the album sold 20,000 copies in its first two weeks, "ten percent of the expected sales figure." How can there have been expectation of 200,000 sales in a fortnight for this album when it's predecessor had sold 100,000 in total? (I realise it's Wiki, so might not be entirely accurate). It also says Kylie considered retiring after the album due to bad public and media reaction. I wonder how much she truly contemplated packing it all in... and look at what we (and she) would have missed out on if she had!! I haven't listened to this album for years so going to give it a spin and see what I think with fresh ears.

EastEnders
Yes, you're right... The Scott and Charlene wedding was just a pretty perfect day for them. It would be good for a British soap to find a much-loved couple and wed them without drama one day. That in itself would be as eventful as anything else they could come up with to tarnish the day.

Streaming Services Chart Discussion
I have to take a moment and point out New Peak: 132. Twenty One Pilots, Arcane, League of Legends- The Line (from the series Arcane League of Legends) I didn't expect this to do anything, so that it is climbing the Spotify charts is really exciting. At a time when the charts wasn't full of Christmas songs, I'd be fingers-crossed for a fourth Top 40 hit for them.

35% Off Entire Kylie Store - Black Friday Sale
First thing I thought when seeing all those "Limited Editions", vinyls and CD singles all slashed in price was... Hmm, they overestimated their market. Shame there aren't any Padam's left... I'd have gone for one of those!! At least the sale is a few months (or even years) after release. I have stopped buying CDs on release day after a little while ago finding that I was paying full-price on pre-order only to see reductions come in during release week to make No.1. Of course this isn't something that happens with Kylie releases, but other acts have done it and it does smart a bit when you paid more only three or four days before.

Ed Sheeran - Under the Tree
Yes... they need to be over-sexual, include a good few swear words and have a diss at one of your peers. Writing a love song ballad for a family Christmas movie without the above is inexcusable!!!

EastEnders
I wonder if there has ever been a wedding in Soapland where the couple have just got married, had a party and that's been it - no hospital rush, no arguments, so admission of infidelity. I thought the scenes of George and Elaine's wedding were great, and the party scenes were really good. The entertainment came from the women all getting drunk together, Priya coming on to Jack, Ravi and Denise, drunk Kathy. It didn't need someone rushing in to say someone is in hospital to make it entertaining to watch.

Ed Sheeran - Under the Tree
Just had a first listen to this and I actually really quite like it. Very Ed Sheeran, very different to Merry Christmas and all a bit sad, but a pretty decent song all in all.

BOBD! SAVE "KIDS"!!!!

Tension Survivor FINAL ROUND
Padam Padam is the best Kylie song for many years. I never ever get fed up with listening to it. So I voted Tension here as Padam is dor the win!!!

The Trevor Horn Rate Results
Videotheque is a brilliant Dollar track, only really beaten for me by Hand Held In Black and White. Here's an odd fact for you... The male singer Theresa Bazar is now touring with is Stephen Fox, who did loads of video work with The Fizz when they were known as The Original Bucks Fizz. For a while, he was even the fourth member of the group with Cheryl, Mike and Jay. Of course David Van Day was also in Bucks Fizz back in the 90s when he tried to steal the name. And Van Day was also in Dollar. And you thought Sugababes had a chequered line up!!!

Band Aid - Do They Know It's Christmas? (2024 Ultimate Mix)
Hmm... Parts of this I really liked on first listen. I was thrown when they repeated the first couple of lines, but when I got what they were doing it was okay for the rest of it and I actually quite liked hearing the same prominent lines echoed over and again. The backing track is good and at times it felt like it was building to something quite special... except... It didn't. It dropped near the start when it should have elevated The news reports were out of place The Dizzie rap sounded as bad on this as it ever did The whole point was that lots of pop stars came together to sing it and they all did the Feed the World bit at the end, but they cut that faaaarrrr too short This could have been something really good... but it kind of just isn't.

Round 7: Year End Survivor #99
Kids is one of my favourite songs ever. This was well tough choice but I had to go for Fighter

EastEnders
I mean... I doubt they has this set up as a back-story for Elaine all along, but it does fit well as to why she's so theatrical and OTT. Linda's reaction - whilst I appreciate she was very drunk - didn't sit right with me. Whether there is something I am missing by not knowing the full story from when Elaine was in it before and I wasn't watching then, but for a mother who is so caring for her daughter to be spoken to is such a way seemed too much. I don't really like drunk-Linda to be honest.

Twenty One Pilots - The Line
Listened to this a couple of time this morning - second listen was better than the first. I never know what to expect from 21Ps and this slower type of song isn't always great on first listen, but once I knew what I was getting then the second listen was nicer. It's an okay song. Probably not one I would rush back to over and over like I usually do though.
