Yeah... Live to Tell was my first thought, and Drowned World is a really good shout out. The rap in Vogue is incredible. I don't think the lyrics for Like a Prayer are that great - but maybe I'm missing something?
Promise to Try, Till Death Do Us Part, Rebel Heart...
The Erotica and Ray of Light albums are particularly good.
Is Veni, Vidi, Vici clever or cringy? I really like it.
Madonna isn't always the best lyricist... Why did no-one ever tell her, "Hey, Madonna... enough or time not waiting and hesitating already!"?

So as a starting point... Madonna will always be somebody. Whether she is 60, 70, 80... even after she is dead, hers will be a name that is remembered.
We always remember the absolute Queen of Pop, who released epic music, banging classics - the tours, the music videos, the fashion choices, the movies. Yes, she had several mis-steps, but she still seemed to be able to make all of those iconic and she was a force that couldn't be stopped and showed strength. I loved watching her interviews because she always seemed interesting, educated, funny and controversial.
But somewhere along the way, the star begins to fade - she's outlived Michael, Whitney, George... but I doubt they would be having hit after hit if they were still with us - but she is still going. She's attempted to keep making music. MDNA was a good album, but you can hear how rushed it was. 10 years before, Girl Gone Wild would have been a Top 10 hit. Rebel Heart suffered from the leaks, and felt bloated. But 20 years before, Ghosttown would have been an easy Top 5. But it was after this era that things went really off, and Madame X isn't something that would have produced a hit. Even God Control, for all it's brilliance, is probably only brilliant alongside the other tracks that surrounded it on that album. Yes she embraced the music of the country she was in and yes it was brave... but it wasn't good.
Too many things have happened that show her weakness. Falling off the stage at the Brits, not delivering at Eurovision... these are massive events that have stayed in people's minds. Her social media is, indeed, a mess and I cringe a bit when I hear her being interviewed and trying too hard to be controversial, or when she appears at an awards show only to fluff her lines.
What she appears to be seeing now is her legacy is her strong point. Frozen, Material Girl, Remix Revolution, Movie of the Story of her Life.
Can she have another hit? Probably not with something new... but Frozen could have been reasonable. If they had released the longer version where Sickick does the verses. Sickick vs Madonna (so it was a sample, not a remix). Released when it was still relevant on TikTok. But she took over and left it too long and brought out not-that-good 2-minute versions.
I love Madonna... always will... and the old tracks could bring her back to people's attention in a good way. But it needs to be handled right... and I fear it won't be.

Oh I am loving this.
When I first started listening this morning, I was a little underwhelmed, but it got me by the second verse and I have listened a few times since and watched the video a couple of times.
It's has a great, chilled-out vibe and doesn't feel too far removed from Fine Line.
And Harry Styles is far too attractive for his own good, to be honest

I'm just not a fan on Madame X. I have tried REALLY hard to like it and gave it a good few listens, but apart from Medellin and God Control I really have little interest in it. If I'd listened before, I would never have bought it.
On the flip side, Rebel Heart is one of my favourite Madonna albums.
MDNA is just there, isn't it... but I do love Girl Gone Wild.

Forbidden Love is the biggest loss so far.
It's strange, though, because I look and think "Oh, that doesn't deserve to be so low, there are worse album tracks".
Then I have to remind myself that Yes, there are... and we didn't vote for them to be in the Top 3 of each album.
So these songs are just the lower placed of the higher placed album tracks.

Interested to hear this.
I wonder if the idea was that the Fireboy remix took off and made the charts, and then this remix was released a little later to help it maintain the momentum?
If so, then at least someone somewhere was recognising how things can work these days... it's just unfortunate that the first part of the plan didn't go so well.
