gooddelta ranks the UK No.1s of 2000
I really like Take on Me by A1 as well. God, I like a lot of songs that everyone else thinks are pants!!! 😂

JADE - Plastic Box • 4th Single
Just watched the video. It's really good. Probably has the most replay value of all her vids (up with AOMD). She is very Ariana Grande at the start, and there's a bit of Madonna, Don't Tell Me, in the middle with the desert setting in front of a screen with the dancers. The only bit I didn't like was the first 5 seconds, because watching anyone shovel food into their mouth is pretty vile to me. The song just gets better.

Having a Michael Jackson Greatest Hits was a bit like having a Madonna Greatest Hits, you just looked at it and thought, "f-ing hell... The quality of the songs on it!"

gooddelta ranks the UK No.1s of 2000
I Have a Dream being the best of the covers for Westlife there, but Seasons in the Sun starts with a "few and far between" Kian lead vocal. And he's pretty easy on the eye in the video, so it's not all bad. I quite like 5ive's cover of We Will Rock You as well 🙈 but it's about as needed as East 17's version of PSB's West End Girls.

Song Covers SoundClash #75
Alex Parks. Always liked her voice. Plus, all I think of when I hear Fix You is Pete saying it to Dawn in their vows on Gavin and Stacey

Radio 1 Playlist (20/06/25): The rope and the contract are in Suzanne's plastic box
It really is!! Hahaha!! Who knew I had such influence? 😂

There are a few songs that I thought were going to take a good stab at #1 that fell short - Love Me Not, Blessings, and especially Undressed. It woulda been good if it wasn't "just another Sabrina Carpenter song" that was going to replace Ordinary.

JADE - Plastic Box • 4th Single
It looks like FUFN is still on there, so I think they are keeping on the songs that were performed at Summertime Ball. Maybe Plastic Box will be added next week instead? (Though that doesn't explain why it was added and then removed). Instant add to B-List at Radio 1 though.

If it finally happens and Alex goes to ACR and loses #1 next week because of it, I will be pleased to see a new #1 and all that. But it will still be odd that the (likely) most consumed song of the week isn't #1 on the charts.

Pop Track of the Week 2025: Week 25
It's got to be Jade this week

JADE - Plastic Box • 4th Single
I listened to this first thing and it's so immediate. It has such a good dance beat which at the same time is laid back. Perfect for summer. Hoped it would be a little higher on NMF, but it is what it is. Angel of My Dreams > FUFN > Plastic Box > IT Girl > Fantasy > Midnight Cowboy

How many times do I have to vote for U2?

Round 1: Year End Survivor #120
Goldtrix, because I don't remember it. I'm sure Hear'say will go first, but it's not deserved

I'm quite surprised that a song that was No.1 for 12 weeks gets so little attention on a music forum. We should talk about Ordinary, peeps... 😁

Top 100 Best Selling Singles Acts Of The 80s
Ultravox being the best here. Hymn, Loves Great Adventure, Dancing With Tears... And "that piano song"???? Few years ago a mate was talking about a programme he watched which had "that piano song" in it. When I questioned further he said. "You know.(Sings) Ohhhhhh. PIANO!" He had no idea it was called Vienna.

I forgot what Bamboogie was, so I had a listen. It's okay, but I can see why I forgot it. Renegade Master is a cracking tune.

Isn't that what happens now when people listen to playlists on streaming? They're just playlists put together by people at Spotify or whatever. Not necessarily what people CHOOSE to listen to. So there is an argument for airplay there!?

On This Day...
As a previously huge Kylie fan, who watched it all fall away and I started to lose interest, it was a massive surprise to see Spinning Around and Light Years do so well. But it was great to have her back!!

Yes, Old Phone was No.1 for a week. The Big Top 40 FAQs state the chart is based on iTunes sales and Apple streaming, but Wikipedia throws in airplay from the stations that broadcast the chart... So who knows? At times it's not a bad chart to listen to, as some songs make it which are nowhere to be seen on the official charts, but at other times you have A Bar Song still Top 20 and four songs by Teddy Swims in the Top 40.

Although I prefer the Official Charts, the Big Top 40 has had better #1s, in my opinion

Over on the Big Top 40, Ordinary has NEVER been No.1, stalling at No.2 so far. But there has been three Ed Sheeran No.1s in the meantime (amongst others) Which would you choose?
