Madonna named 4th greatest musician by Spin Magazine! She changed the world. Bruce Springsteen may have been the biggest rock star in the ’80s (may still be) but Madonna was the biggest star. No movie star, director, painter, writer or other musician created the tsunamic wake she did when she floated into and out of a country. Crowds the size of those who came to see the Pope greeted her when she arrived in a city like Rome, besieging her hotel. (When she later played Evita in a movie, that role was a step down from the adulation she witnessed in real life.) Her music was great (I think, always did) but that alone didn’t create the rip in the cultural space-time continuum. She was a liberator. She was 100 percent who she wanted to be and who she said she was, which was more than refreshing, it was, then, society-tearing down. Love her or hate her, she was (I believe) equally happy with either reaction. She freed sex from the prissy cotton wool Reagan’s America was wrapping it back in. Nothing she did was as outrageous as the next thing she did. She was a sustained cultural orgasm. She coincided with MTV’s rise perfectly, and defined them as much as they helped define her. Her videos were small movies — some R-rated level and banned — and they were great! Her songs and videos were controversial on multiple levels, including the tremendous furor that “Like a Prayer” caused for using Christian crosses and kissing the statue of a Black saint. She sold more than 300 million records, but that’s beside the point. Madonna more embodied the spirit of rock ‘n roll than rock stars. She was nobody’s fool, and still isn’t. – Bob Guccione, Jr

Not sure if it’s been mentioned yet but - in regards to the Strictly performance - it seems Kylie will be opening the show alongside the dancers and Five will be performing in the regular guest performance slot: BBCBBC One - Strictly Come Dancing, Series 23, Week 12 ResultsBoth Kylie Minogue and Five perform in the studio ahead of this year's final dance-off.

No complaints about the bottom two. So many Westlife songs following the first couple of albums merge together and are so painstakingly dull that I can’t even finish them nor recall what I did hear immediately after listening. ‘The Rose’ is marginally more distinctive but that’s not saying much at all. McFly’s cover of ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ is inoffensive which kinda makes it offensive given the star power and charisma Freddie Mercury brings to the original. That said I do have to admit it probably wouldn’t be in my Top 10 Queen songs! I do really like Leona’s version of ‘A Moment Like This’ - much like Alexandra Burke’s ‘Hallelujah’, I think she brings it 100% vocally which elevates it beyond the typical winners single formula.

I’ve been reading everyone else’s reviews in the past week but missed them all whilst they were ongoing, so I hope to keep up with this one!

I wonder if the Untold Chapter vinyl charts separately or with the original album given there’s also a double CD with both editions?

The vocals sound so weird! I think I’ll stick to the rough demo on YouTube over this poorly remastered one.

I know a Christmas album is likely to pick up sales from an older audience so makes sense to promote on TV, but does make me laugh how we’ve been anticipating Strictly performances to promote her other albums but it’s now that we get the Strictly spot.
