  1. It does sound very 'Shout Out to My Ex' but that was never one of my favourite Little Mix songs so I'm not as enthused as other people are.

Oh I know, don’t worry! Think I’ve used the same 80s sales as you in the opening post. Just always useful to work out how the OCC have worked out their own sales.
  3. Another thought piece on 'Ray of Light' influencing current music: 'Her vulnerability still resonat...'Her vulnerability still resonates deeply': Why Madonna's...From FKA Twigs to Addison Rae, many of today's hottest pop stars are taking inspiration from Madonna's swirling 1998 masterpiece. What is it that has made the album such a touchstone?
  4. Anymore votes before next round?
  5. I read that - how devastating! I remember that Graham Norton Show episode well, the dolls were absolutely stunning (and deserved a better response from Madonna!).
  6. Well done for being the only member guessing #21-30 (and only a couple of positions out)!
  7. So glad it seems they're continuing with the re-releases! I think 'Chemistry' is the tracking list I'm anticipating the most because will it include the bonus material from 'Sound of Girls Aloud' too? I'd really like 'Singapore' on streaming as well as their version of 'Made of Glass'/'Giving You Up' (can't remember which Kylie song it was that Nicola said the girls had recorded first).
  8. 4,317 sales confirmed by Music Week: #5 on sales and physicals; #3 on vinyl and downloads.

Meh, I think the song's okay but I think she's capable of much better. What's with the video where she just walks around like an NPC?
  10. #23 in the UK! Last weeks #22 sold 4.2k so expect similar sales. That’s double what I was expecting this time last week!
  11. 'Dress You Up' remix EP released tonight as well! 1. Dress You Up (Remix/Edit) 3:48 2. Dress You Up (12" Formal Mix) 6:16 3. Dress You Up (The Casual Instrumental Mix) 4:37 Edit: here it is:
  12. It's 40 years since 'Dress You Up' was released as the fourth and final single from 'Like a Virgin'. Share your thoughts and memories below!
  13. #11 on today's update - really good hold! I did hear that there was some delivery delays so that may explain matters.
  14. Same, I’m sick of these campaigns that end when the album is released, especially from artists that could easily pull off a post-album hit if they tried.

  16. 11 Hung Up 11 Sorry 11 Frozen 10 Vogue 10 Papa Don't Preach 10 Into the Groove 10 Like a Prayer 10 Music 09 La Isla Bonita 09 4 Minutes 09 True Blue 08 Who's That Girl 08 American Pie Really impressive list of #1s! From her #2s. I'd swap out the last two for 'Live to Tell' and 'Ray of Light', both of which are 10/10s.
  17. In honor of 40 years since Madonna's first UK number one song, let's take a moment to look back on all 13 of them. Rank/rate the songs below: Into the Groove Papa Don't Preach True Blue La Isla Bonita Who's That Girl Like a Prayer Vogue Frozen American Pie Music Hung Up Sorry 4 Minutes
  18. Nice little article looking at the enduring impact of 'Ray of Light', particularly in 2025: Xtra MagazineMadonna’s ‘Ray of Light’ is everywhere | Xtra MagazineAddison Rae, FKA Twigs and Lorde all seem to be drawing inspiration from the Queen of Pop’s seminal 1998 album. What makes “Ray of Light” so timeless?
  19. Today marks 40 years since 'Into the Groove' became Madonna's first UK number one single! Share your thoughts and memories of the song below.
  20. They're very encouraging sales for moving forward with similar releases - 'Bedtime Stories: The Untold Chapter' could end up doing really well for her if it does indeed include mostly demos (assuming it still ends up getting a release). I listened to the album in full today and I really enjoyed it! I have to disagree with comments in this thread because I thought it was a cohesive listen with well-considered choices of remixes. Whilst 'Finally Enough Love' favoured a more commercial sound, the remixes here are darker and compliment the mood of the original album. 'Gone Gone Gone' is really sticking with me now, love the vocals!
  21. 'Definitely Maybe' by Oasis is just below Madonna at #9 and had sold 3,180 at this point last week, so I think we can assume about 3k sales for Madonna. That would be enough to just stay Top 40 last week. Edit: sales confirmed as 3,529 from Music Week!
  22. Dannii is set to return to acting in an Australian drama titled 'Impostor'. https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/home-and-away/a65528347/dannii-minogue-impostor-channel-5/
  23. Starts off at #8 in the midweeks. Nice start but until we know sales I wouldn't count on it staying Top 40 just yet.

'Into the Groove' had 191k post-1994 sales as of the w/e 20 December 2019 - assuming the 562k figure is its current post-1994 total, that means its averaged 1,266 chart sales since. At the rate, it would be certified Platinum in March 2026.

The OCC revised their 80s year end lists in 2021 and they said 'Into the Groove' sold 793k in 1985. I'm guessing the 562k figure they gave earlier today before updating the article really was the post-1994 sales as that would bring its total to 1.355m which rounds up to 1.4m (plus it'll have achieved a small amount of physical sales after 1985). The new article also says 'Into the Groove' has sold 907,500 pure sales, an increase of 30k since August 2016. Only a nearly 30 years to be an official million seller! Last known streaming total was 36.1m in September 2023, an increase of 18.3m streams. https://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/madonna-into-the-groove-number-1-single/
