  1. Of all the big anniversaries this year (Rhythm of Love, Light Years, Aphrodite), it’s Kylie Christmas that gets a re-release! πŸ˜‚

    Yeah that’s what I thought!

Vogue is Platinum! :o adding its 1990 sales (445k) it’s another million seller for Madonna! Like a Virgin and Into the Groove should reach Platinum next year too.
  4. Celebrating Halloween with this Scooby Doo anthem! πŸ˜‚ Not that it's spooky at all, I'll be going with something more on theme like 'Where the Wild Roses Grow' and 'Confide in Me' next!

    Just a thought - is β€˜Madeline’ a play on words of β€œmeddling”?

I've absolutely loved reading everyone's thoughts; it's so nice to see us all connect through shared feelings of this unexpected, special album. I knew what the main subject of the album was going in but I didn't realise every song would be about it, almost like a diary that details each event from start to finish. Lily's storytelling is pitch perfect, I can envision every moment in my mind so well. The way the song structures help tell the story as well, such as the repetition of certain lyrics to really emphasise specific thoughts and the phone calls (the voice of "Madeline" is so good, like the words she speaks sound supportive but the voice is just so passive aggressive and stuck-up, you can tell Lily just wanted to claw her eyes out!). Also the gasp I let out going into the song 'Madeline' itself as it dawned on me it was about Lily confronting the other woman! I love being entertained like this as if I'm reading a book or watching a film, seeing the twists and turns in the story. Some of the lyrics in 'Dallas Major' remind me of those in '22', not sure if that was intentional like the "it's not me, it's you" reference was in 'Fruityloop'. Speaking of, what a great concluding moment to the album with Lily making peace with what's happened. It's an absolute thrill to see this album rewarded with growing success! I said previously that I thought a sudden release was the best way to grab people's attention, but I never anticipated success like this. It's going to be a joy to see where the era goes.
  8. Incredible! ❀️

I just realised that the "I look at the sun and I look in the mirror" lyric in 'The Fear' is referring to the newspapers! πŸ˜‚ It's gone from being the weaker lyrics of the song to the best!

Will post my thoughts soon but listened to the album this morning and wow, perfection!
  11. I'm calling on this song to do best: Eurythmics - Here Comes the Rain Again
  12. Just noticed 'Not Such An Innocent Girl' is track #1 on Spotify UK's Throwback Thursday and Victoria is the cover!
  13. Don't watch Strictly anymore but this was such a great tribute!
  14. Opposed to what previous time? The reissues were all released on CD and vinyl. I think this will attract less sales just due to the nature of it being a Christmas album but I imagine will still be Top 100.
  15. Yeah I very much get that. There’s a few songs here that are really cheesy and if they were on a different album I’d probably rate them less, but here they add to the charm and personality of the album.
  16. I honestly thought nothing would beat 'Jungle' but then came 'Shook'! 1) Shook 2) Jungle 3) Nice to Know You (Situation) 4) When the Rain Comes 5) Weeds I get the feeling 'When the Rain Comes' will be left off the album.
  17. 'Password'. It's a fun secret moment where the CD owners had to rewind before track 1 to hear it, but I think it's right to remain a bonus track.
  18. We've had two previously unreleased tracks revealed so far from Madonna's two side projects this year, but which is your favourite?
  19. Going with 'Nobody's Perfect' but already in 8/10 territory for me!
  20. Been going through old Music Week articles and found these sales from 2013 for Mark Owen's album totals: Mark Owen's first solo album since Take That reformed in 2005, The Art Of Doing Nothing debuts at number 29 (5,412 sales). It thus becomes his highest charting album in a solo career of modest proportions. His debut solo set, Green Man, reached number 33 in 1996 and follow-up In Your Own Time got to number 59 in 2003, while How The Mighty Fall - issued a little prior to Take That's reformation in 2005 - failed to chart. Green Man actually did okay, selling 106,161 copies but In Your Own Time sold 17,802 and How The Mighty Fall - whose title at least showed an ironic self-awareness - has sold just 3,279 copies. The Art Of Doing Nothing's first single, Stars, debuts at number 135 (1,842 sales).
