Back on topic..... whats the numbers looking like between Bird Vs Cardle at the moment?

Some great debate going on here & its been a pleasure to read. It appears from whats been said above that X factor winners (the vast majority) dont have the ability to bounce back from poor sales. Where the artists mentioned above have made successfull come backs is because they have to a degree creative talent. Without the full backing of a lable X factor contestants tend to be screwed. These people are not song writers, bed room producers or even singers in pub bands. Most of them prior to fame do very regular jobs with little to no involvment with music at all. If for example the black eyed peas had a slump & got dropped by there lable then no doubt there would be a good chance of a comback as there is a very strong creative force behind the band. Failing that Will.I.Am would no doubt make a career in production. Poor old Joe Mceldry is going to be back working in Tesco(this is an example) Record companys know this & thats why some artits are given more time to come up with the goods. Amy Winehouse is still signed & when was her last album released? Though whether she remains sober for long enough to mske another one remains to be seen.

Sammy01 you are so right, thank you. you have just made the ultimate quote regarding everything that is wrong with the modern music industry. You have put into words what I & no doubt many have been thinking for so long. Meet me at the pub & I will get you a drink.

But to pass their "sell by date" in such a short time? That only reinforces the argument above, that the artist is not very good & has no more to deliver or they are quite literally dissposable in the eyes of the record company, as another short term cash cow (Cardle) as come along. Unfortunatley for the majority of these talent contest winner success is short lived. The dont seem to hold the interest of the public for very long & hence sales start to plummet & they get the boot from the label. And no that doesnt happen to most other established artists, the public & the record companies are happy to wait for years between album releases & the interest is still there.

The album is worth checking out too.

I think what you are saying about the production of the X Factor winning single is true, not just regarding Matt's record but all of the previous winners. There is a limited time to produce all of the potential winners singles in the run up to the final hence the "Cowell-sounding production" that they all seem to have. To me its quite a bland sound so most of the covers tend to sound like watered down versions of the originals & just a bit sh*t (christmas bells). Though as mentioned in previous posts this has worked out ok for some of the winners singles, eg Hallelujah. I'm a noob to this forum & I'm surprised there isnt a music production discussion section (I may have just overlooked it)

Why... because I can. Her music is utter drivel & I'm a bitter angry man. No but seriously people dont look as good (the way the world wants) in press releases as in real life. Beyonce is black in reality, I mean blacker than in the pictures & video's, actually a black woman as opposed to that dark skinned white chick that we see. Rihanna has massive thighs, I know you dont see that in her promo stuff but check the images from live performaces. Promotional material is made to make the artist look how we want to see them. People sitting at computers make the image to suit the requirements.

Trust me that pic above is real, its from an article in the guardian, check the image properties. Though now the guardian has removed the page. (scum) I admit that in the promotional images she looks alright but in reality.....
