Better Man • Robbie Williams Biopic (2024)
Better Man posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatDon't like the fact that Robbie and his team almost forgot about the movie. His mgmt is very lazy. Not Tim, David time, of course. I swear even me did more for the movie in 2 days in Almaty than them in 4 months. Not sure we got any big impact from streaming. But again, everybody like this when they seen it.

Better Man posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatGary Barlow releases final track from EP ‘Meanwhile’ Gary Barlow today releases the final track from his new EP, Meanwhile, which features collaborations with Colbie Callait, Becky Hill and Rosa Linn. Today’s track, Out Here Looking, sees Gary team up with Armenian singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Rosa Linn, in a delicate track about the quest for love that seamlessly blends their stunning vocals. Gary said: “What I love about this EP is the way these collaborations have come together. Becky is someone I’ve known for years and we’ve written together many times, so it was nice to be able to do something official. With Rosa, I first came across her music on YouTube and I was so inspired by her voice that I actually wrote ‘Out Here Looking’ specifically around her voice. It was a different way of working for her so when she came to the studio to record her vocals, I think it felt really fresh for her creatively. Our voices blend well together so I’m really happy with how that track sounded in the end. And then Colbie – what a voice! That song started in London with me on my own, reflecting on a friend’s situation and then when I got the chance to work with Colbie and the fantastic Gavin DeGraw on it, I just couldn’t say no.” Rosa said: “I was truly thrilled to hear from Gary, and the very first time I listened to the song, I was struck by how beautiful and relatable it was—I didn’t have to think twice. I instantly knew it would be a great idea to fly to the UK and record my vocals there. Our voices blend so naturally, and I’m so happy with how it all came together.” Gary is one of Britain’s most successful songwriters and record producers. As part of Take That, he has won eight BRIT Awards and sold over 45 million records. Aside from his achievements with his fellow bandmates, he has released six solo albums and co-written and produced music for other renowned artists, including Dame Shirley Bassey, Sir Elton John and Robbie Williams. Earlier this year, he hit the road for a huge solo tour, The Songbook Tour 2025, which celebrated his illustrious four-decade-spanning career. Barlow delighted sell-out audiences around the UK with an array of songs from his much-celebrated back catalogue of hits with both Take That and as a solo artist. Better Man posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatOn this day in pop: Robbie Willi...Robbie Williams - Sing When You're Winning (2000)Online magazine celebrating pop music from the 80s and 90sRobbie Williams - Sing When You're Winning (2000) Original UK release date: 28th August 2000 UK album chart peak: Number 1 Buy Sing When You're Winning here (Apple Music) Stream Sing When You're Winning here (Spotify) Robbie's finest album came roaring into existence as the new millenium rolled around - dropping in the greatest summer of pop music since 1989. After the colossal success of his debut album and follow up, I've Been Expecting You, all eyes were on Robbie - who'd been busy racking up millions of ticket sales in the two year gap between album two and three. The sound of the album moved Robbie away from the Britpop era of album two and saw him embrace the pop renaissance of the 2000s. He, of course, did it in his own way, extrapolating influences from rap, hip hop, clubs and stadium bound anthems that were becoming his signature sound. He even teamed up with pop royalty, Kylie Minogue (after writing some songs for her Light Years album). The golden boy of pop reigned supreme (amour) once more - spawning six singles, another number one album chart smash and selling 2.5m copies on this side of the pond alone. Sing when you're winning? Belting it from the rafters... Rock DJ (July 2000, #1) ~ the absolute brazen audacity of coming back with such a bonkers song and video was trademark Robbie. Partly all about just enjoying the music, partly a celebration of his role in that, Rock DJ was somewhat cocky spoken word exercise (in the verses), a healthy dollop of addictive beats, and one big f*** off refrain that dominated dancefloors all the live long summer. It encapsulated the carefree sound that Robbie did so well - and joined similar "just let yourself go" anthems that topped the charts that season from Kylie (Spinning Around) and Madonna (Music). It was everywhere - each time I turned on the radio or popped on the television, this song was blaring out (sometimes with that flesh stripping video accompanying it). No wonder it soared to number one, but lingered too - spending five weeks in the top ten, 24 on the overall UK chart countdown and sold over one million copies. Not too shabby. Better Man posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatWell...😇 Robbie Williams – Desire Review By Ewan Gleadow August 24, 2025 Uploading Attachment... Uploading Attachment... 1 of 5 Think about the songs which have defined football tournaments in the past. Vindaloo, Three Lions, and Bittersweet Symphony are a mixed bag to say the least. Two songs overplayed to the point of meaninglessness, and The Lightning Seeds’ finest hour. But take the worst aspects of all three and distil them into Desire, the latest Robbie Williams song. Despite the box office bomb of Better Man, the strength of his cheeky monkey autobiography has been a revolution for his public image. It has done very little for his music, though, which seems stuck between genuine innovation with Black Sabbath-featuring Rocket and the safest music possible, made to connect with everyone, and thus nobody, with Desire. We were once freed from desire, as Wigan fans will tell you, but we are back with that lust. FIFA’s official anthem is, unfortunately, not just Bob Dylan’s Desire in full. They just had to ruin the feel-good fashion of football with Williams’ worst work to date. A withering and pathetic piece of music. Inevitable string sections and half-hearted lyrical selections, which lead to loving the beautiful game. There is a difference between writing a song celebrating football and a track which hails FIFA. Tone deaf work from Williams and featured artist Laura Pausini, to say the least. Nearly every trivial football cliché is hit on. It’s a miracle Williams doesn’t end the song by saying “the game’s gone,” and then blowing into a vuvuzela. Compare this to previous songs associated with football and note that, despite the scrappy sound to Baddiel and Skinner or K’Naan, there is heart and genuine passion. Williams managed to make football a major part of his image during his chart-topping days. Sing When You’re Winning highlights that genuine love. Writing about a true passion is tricky, though Williams has done it before. Is he running on empty with Desire, or does he just not care? Both are more than likely. Not just poor but tone deaf, too. “Dignity for the weak in the arms of the brave” is the opening line to a song dedicated to FIFA, a company with more human rights violation controversies than most sporting bodies. Football unites a community, or it used to. The beautiful game has been ripped from the hands of the working class and given to those who can accept the highest bidder for global sporting events. Williams not noting this is cowardly and it tucks him into the pocket of brands. There is safety in corporations for those who can afford to sacrifice their values. Between this and suggesting generative artificial intelligence has been used on his upcoming album, Britpop, the fall-off of Williams needs to be actively rooted for, rather than passively hoped for. He rebuilt plenty of bridges with Better Man, but Desire is a revolting, tone-deaf piece of work. Irrespective of the guilt which should come after writing a song fawning over FIFA, Williams should be ashamed of just how bad it is. A 4D chess move, perhaps, to bring negativity to the brand? Not so. Manipulating your emotions and dignity with some unimpressive string sections and a scattershot of mundane comments on the game, a bit of “one love” here, a splash of “chase the sun” there, it’s sportswashing in song form. Williams has done as much damage to our ears here as Roy Keane did to Alfie Haaland. We can only hope in his next Soccer Aid appearance that Stylian Petrov two-foots him, an act of protecting the true, beautiful game. Corporations with their claws in sports of working-class origins is no surprise, though it is horrendous to hear Williams, whose unquestionable love for the game is found in his ties to Port Vale, is so keen to shake the grubby FIFA hand. Cult FollowingRobbie Williams – Desire ReviewRobbie Williams' FIFA song is nothing short of a disgrace, with his very real love of the game used to sportswash a dirty company.- Bon Jovi & Robbie Williams - We Made It Look Easy
Better Man posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take That15 years ago I would be the happiest person in a room because I liked BJ very much. Have A Nice Day was my fave album in my university life, while solo album by John was my faves after all Robbie's albums talking about solo singers. Many years passed since then but I still admire BJ although almost not follow them. Happy the rumors are true! Waiting for a duet and yes, maybe they will release it as a single or at least as a making off video.- AF League Tables & News
