iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 1st December 2013
This is just so illogical. On average you will get the same number of impulse buys regardless of the weekend of an album's release. They are all just coincidental. Stocking it on Monday just means the album's "supermarket week" is Monday-Sunday, shifted a day later, instead of Sunday-Saturday (which is what the official chart measures). The only argument to be made is that one weekend might be "preferable" to another for the album to be higher on the shelf.

One of the most succesful vloggers on youtube. Anyone vaguely connected with the community there might recognise him. He just released the music video:

The Storm Queen song is HUGE. Like it or not it's kinda the perfect example of "cool" music today. Feels like I've been hearing it for years. Cant believe its only just been officially released.

I knew Eminanna would push down to 50 :w00t: I'm not convinced the 1D video will actually have much impact, if its just one of their standard videos. Anyone who swoons over them has presumably bought the song already.

The Monster is working up that lead!!! Go go go

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 27th October 2013
Actually that could happen. One Direction are falling pretty hard and if Em/Rih work up that 50% lead I can easily see them keeping it until Sunday.

Poor dat. :yahoo: About Tom Odell, I'm a bit surprised and disappointed by his flopage. I think he's a quality artist.

Also... god only knows why Miley is releasing tomorrow. And why she didnt perform WB on Alan Carr.

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 15th September 2013
That Jason Derulo song is utter trash. It's not just harmlessly generic like Jessie's song, it's actually offensively bad. In an ideal world, some SAINT would perform Counting Stars on X factor tomorrow and it will SHOOT to #1.

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 8th September 2013
Is there a reason One Republic are at #2, like any sort of promo? Or is it genuinely just a sleeper hit? I mean, I'm SO glad! This has been my favourite song for a month now. Very happy for them.

I think that's gone out the window. Naughty Boy looks pretty safe now. The hype has just been snowballing for this song, there's something about it. I agree when people say it doesn't sound like a #1. Without a huge name it's impressive. But now with the #1 exposure, I'm not surprised its blowing up, it's catchy but also unique. The lead is still growing substantially.

I think Naughty Boy might be dangerous this week actually! It's very unique. And in the past few days I've seen so many people tweet about it. Hope it can at least make a good challenge.

Where will Rihannas Pour It Up chart?
You might classify Thrift Shop as 'urban' but it's not exactly comparable to Pour It Up. In my opinion anyway. :teresa: I would say TS verges on pop-rap. And while I agree other songs with urban elements can be succesful (will.i.am, Bingo players, baauer), they are generally cross genre and more dance songs. I can only really remember ..In Paris making the top 10 recently. And even that is basically cross genre. You don't see ASAP Rocky, Future, Kendrick Lamar or Miguel charting well in the UK. I know they aren't huge names here, but that's almost the point. If you think it's bad then I won't argue. :P Your opinion. I'm only discussing it's success as a single.

Where will Rihannas Pour It Up chart?
Yes it did smash hugely - on urban radio - that's the format it was released on, and it was #1 for multiple weeks. Comprehension is key. The reason it will flop is because of the genre. We don't have a huge urban music culture here and UK listeners won't buy it massively. That doesn't mean the song is bad. I'd be surprised if this made the top 40, but maybe it could. Combined it's about #60 on itunes now.

Lol. Didn't will.i.am delay himself purposefully to this week? Bad move.

Where will Rihannas Pour It Up chart?
To be honest the realistic worldwide single choices are Right Now Nobody's Business Jump It's likely to be one of them Jump would be by far the best move imo, even if its riskiest (fresh, different, well produced) The other two are better off left on the album (RN is terrible; NB is just not a good move)

Where will Rihannas Pour It Up chart?
Yes the release is the same as 'Stay' but its treatment is not the same at all. This song is basically an urban US single (where it smashed hugely) which is being released in the UK to fill the gap between 'Stay' and the next worldwide single. And this is basically because Stay rose very early in the UK (because of an X Factor final performance). I don't think anybody expects it to do well here, so it's inevitable flop won't be a surprise or shame. That's why people will "downgrade it" like you say.

Better measure of a song popularity? UK Singles or Hot 100?
The poll results are delusional. There is something to be said for a sales chart. It measures the actual purchase of music. But a Hot 100 is a far better chart for actually measuring a song's reach and popularity. How people deny that is beyond me. Delayed releases produce some absolute stinkers charting highly. Often they are by no means actually the most popular song of that week.

Amazing they've pushed Mirrors down to 0.5 Credit to them. I doubt many expected that lead

Top 100 Best Selling Albums Of The 2010s
I forgot about Take That's 520k first week. That's huge. I don't actually remember any of the singles from it. For some reason I don't associate it with the same huge era aura of 21, Loud, Crazy Love etc.

Rihanna's Record-Breaking Year: A new female record?
It is exciting for sure! If she has 776 now then 1000+ is more than possible, she could do double. And ^There are a good few criticisms to make about her music/personality, but dull is not one of them. -_-
