2025 singles year to date estimates
I did think Pink Skies was going to hang on for another couple of weeks, must be doing around 7.5-8k a week after at a glance on Spotify. If a third song should enter this week I would have Prada next to drop out, it's dropped a fair bit on the dance charts

Show Me Love 100% entering with Mutt extremely likely this week. I have CRG and BMF falling out for them.

2025 BPI Certifications
It's definitely a million seller, 21st in pure sales on around 1.65 million as of 2017 so at least 800k downloads!

Official Charts x NEXTGEN- Making Your Music Heard online session
So... the OCC are doing a Zoom meeting next month in partnership with Youth Music talking about the importance of the charts and trying to convince young musicians that the charts are easy for them to get into? Thoughts on this? I would probably join for the laughs but doubt I'll be able to make that date... "Our NextGen online session with the Official Charts team will break down what it takes to take your music from a bedroom beat to a chart-topping track. Across the one-hour session, they’ll take you through how the Official Chart works and why it matters. You’ll also find out how you get yourself registered for the Chart, and ways you can make your sales and streams count. The team will also talk over how you can compete for chart positions even as an early or independent artist, and how you can use the charts to power your career in music. Where: Online (Zoom) When: Wednesday 21 May, 6 PM to 7 PM" https://www.youthmusic.org.uk/opportunities/nextgen-x-official-charts-making-your-music-heard-online-session

It's from the Minecraft Movie and is technically an advert song for Steve's (Jack Black) fictional chicken shop. If you aren't interested in the film obviously you wouldn't be in on the joke but it was funny in the movie! Same type of thing as "Peaches" from the Mario Movie

Every song that has gone platinum despite never reaching the UK Top 40- FULL LIST
Yeah I think no more than 20 songs here would've made the top 40 without the 3-track rule, a lot of the bigger streaming albums were released (and had their tracks go top 40) before the rule was implemented. Most of these genuinely have bubbled under

Good to see Sick Boi go silver, great album! Also good to see Bad To The Bone go silver, surprised it hadn't already

Undressed back ahead of Back To Friends again and both in the top 10!

Every song that has gone platinum despite never reaching the UK Top 40- FULL LIST
Just one new addition this week, "Run Boy Run" by Woodkid. Bit disappointed after the wait but we now have 422 songs on this list! (and possibly more if I've made more mistakes. I don't think I'll bother searching for more now as I'm getting pretty sick of the BPI's terrible website...)

Just had a go at a full top 40, week 14 2024 to week 13 2025. You're pretty much bang on with your sales estimates, just had to change Hot To Go (it would've done a few sales in 2023 so its total wouldn't fit this list). 1 Espresso 2.064m 2 Too Sweet 1.711m 3 Beautiful Things 1.697m 4 A Bar Song 1.586m 5 Birds Of A Feather 1.574m 6 Good Luck Babe 1.554m 7 Lose Control 1.532m 8 Please Please Please 1.389m 9 Stick Season 1.366m 10 Austin 1.314m 11 Stargazing 1.257m 12 Die With A Smile 1.100m 13 Taste 1.100m 14 I Had Some Help 1.089m 15 That’s So True 950k 16 Sailor Song 940k 17 The Door 940k 18 APT 920k 19 Not Like Us 910k 20 I Like The Way You Kiss Me 910k 21 Fortnight 900k 22 Cruel Summer 878k 23 Hot To Go 855k 24 Houdini 830k 25 Kisses 820k 26 Slow It Down 819k 27 Messy 780k 28 Million Dollar Baby 762k 29 Mr Brightside 753k 30 Scared To Start 725k 31 We Can't Be Friends 724k 32 I Can Do It With A Broken Heart 718k 33 Wildflower 710k 34 I Love You I'm Sorry 710k 35 Prada 704k 36 Pink Pony Club 700k 37 Somedays 690k 38 Texas Hold Em 670k 39 Guess 660k 40 Backbone 654k

Ed always gets his way so it'll be number one when Ordinary finally goes ACR and he sends out his army of CDs. It's not a flop
-
Streaming Services Chart Discussion; W/C 18/04/25
It's 5 years old so on ACR for now but it will easily do the 25% increase for a reset. Maybe not top 40 this week but if it keeps climbing like this there's a good chance in a following week!

Feels really weird that Birds Of A Feather is going to overtake Bad Guy that quickly. To me Bad Guy felt like a massive cultural moment, I wasn't even into music at the time but I remember it and Billie being everywhere, more than any other artist/song that year, meanwhile I've barely heard people in person refer to "Birds..." or Billie in general over the past year.

Surely not when Bad Guy exists!

A lot of people have Christmas parties and Christmas dinners which they make with Christmas songs on in the background to lift the Christmas spirit. I don't know anyone who has an Easter party or Easter dinner... The party bit also applies to Halloween
