Timeless at 7, on for a new/re-peak? Cry For Me at 12 and Sao Paulo at 15

Fairly certain it's to encourage people to listen to the whole album to find the features, if the features are credited from the start fans of those artists will just go straight to that song and skip the rest of the album. Frustrating but very smart

Does the Weeknd have physicals out this week? If he's streaming only he might struggle for number one...

Buzzjack's Ultimate UK Number 7 Single - 1st Round
Ah no I lost Jump (one of the first songs I remember loving) AND Green Onions (which I've used as backing music on the radio absolutely loads) today! Surprised the latter got that many points though, good showing for it.

2025 singles year to date estimates
Not 100% sure Hozier's Do I Wanna Know has done enough to enter this week. GBP definitely has, I have Taylor Swift dropping out for it, with Sophie E-B and Snow Patrol on the chopping block if Feel Good Inc and/or something else wants to enter

There's already a radio edit available on streaming but even then there's a lot of stuff I imagine Radio 1 would want to edit out. The probably won't even say the title and call it FJW or something  In other news the new Latto ft. Carti is at 179

New Release Schedule: Friday 24 January
That's probably a good thing, they'll have a better chance against the Wombats than the Weeknd for a number one. EDIT thought it was originally out Friday, nevermind

They've both charted multiple times in the past 3 years, they'd need manual resets

BBC article: 2010s lost classics that became sleeper hits
I'll agree there's a lot of churnalism going on here, I think whoever wrote this is getting their info from another publisher and not doing the proper fact checking. The songs they've chosen to write about were pretty good choices but I would've said "lovely" hasn't had a huge resurgence, it's always been big just never doing enough for top 40.

Greatest Chart Run Ever: The Beatles vs. Take That vs. Oasis
Thanks for this, pretty interesting that Oasis are number 3 and not the Spice Girls as I would've guessed at a glance. Would Wings not count for Paul McCartney outside of the Beatles? That would give them an extra number 1 single and number 1 album. EDIT: If Wings count then the Traveling Wilburys should for George Harrison, that's one extra album

Could CDs/digital downloads ever make a comeback?
Weren't CDs actually up this year? The press likes to avoid talking about CDs positively, I think because labels want to push positivity about vinyls as they're more expensive and will get them more money. There's a guy on "Now Spinning Magazine" who talks a lot about physical music and has called publications out for this for ages.

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cgj2l4e1d09o An interesting article from the Beeb about old songs getting revived. Any thoughts?
