26 points Ozzy Osbourne- Crazy Train (UK chart peak: 49, platinum 24/01/2025) Frank Ocean- Thinkin' Bout You (UK chart peak: 94, 2x platinum 07/02/2025) Billie Eilish- Bellyache (UK chart peak: 79, platinum 12/11/2021) "Crazy Train" inspired me to compile the list of non-top 40 platinum singles. It is Ozzy's debut solo single with great guitar work from the late Randy Rhoads. Frank Ocean has 8 eligible tracks but only 4 got points, we have seen 2 of them from Blonde drop out, this one is from his debut album Channel Orange, leaving him with one song left. 5 of Billie's 9 eligible tracks got points, here is the first to show up, taken from her 2017 EP Don't Smile At Me.

25 points Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes- Home (UK chart peak: 50, 2x platinum 19/04/2024) Paolo Nutini- Iron Sky (UK chart peak: 42, platinum 29/09/2023) Harry Styles- Sweet Creature (UK chart peak: 46, platinum 30/06/2023) Harry Styles- Kiwi (UK chart peak: 66, platinum 04/08/2023) Lewis Capaldi- Forever (UK chart peak: did not chart, platinum 31/03/2023) Taylor Swift- Paper Rings (UK chart peak: did not chart, platinum 11/04/2025) "Home" was released in 2009 but didn't chart until 2013 when it was used in a Peugeot advert. It enjoyed a wave of TikTok virality in 2020. "Iron Sky" is from Paolo's 3rd album Caustic Love and reached its peak before an official single release. Two tracks from Harry Styles' 2017 debut album bow out at the same time, meaning he has one more song left. Capaldi also loses his only track to get points.

24 points Fleetwood Mac- Rhiannon (UK chart peak: 46, platinum 16/09/2022) The 1975- Girls (UK chart peak: 45, platinum 19/03/2021) Taylor Swift- August (UK chart peak: 78, platinum 05/01/2024) "Rhiannon" is taken from Fleetwood Mac's self-titled 1975 album and was written by Stevie Nicks. She was unaware of the Welsh goddess Rhiannon when writing the song but after realising the lyrics could be applied to the goddess she began working on a Rhiannon-themed project which in 2020 was revealed to be a mini-series. The first of 4 eligble songs from the 1975 drops out here, it is included on their 2013 self-titled debut album. "August" from Taylor's 2020 album Folklore appears, the first of her 7 eligible tracks, all of which got points- it always gets a big boost from Swifties at the start of the month it's named after. It would have hit the top 40 on album release week without the 3-song rule.

23 points Carmen Twillie- Circle Of Life (UK chart peak: did not chart, platinum 10/05/2024) Dwayne Johnson- You're Welcome (UK chart peak: did not chart, 3x platinum 10/01/2025) Double Disney here! "Circle Of Life" was a number 11 hit when sung by its co-writer Elton John but the original as featured in the 1994 film The Lion King is the most successful version in the digital age. Pro-wrestler turned actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson features on Wyclef Jean's number 3 hit "It Doesn't Matter" but this track from Moana is by far his most successful. He is set to reprise his role as Maui in a live-action remake, believe it or not...

22 points Oasis- Slide Away (UK chart peak: did not chart, platinum 06/09/2024) Childish Gambino- Heartbeat (UK chart peak: 97, platinum 11/10/2024) George Ezra- Listen To The Man (UK chart peak: 41, platinum 13/05/2022) Becky Hill and Weiss- I Could Get Used To This (UK chart peak: 45, platinum 13/08/2021) Oasis' 1994-1995 output has done extremely well in the digital age, not surprising given their cultural significance during the time period. "Slide Away" is the penultimate track on their debut album Definitely Maybe, and was a B-side on their "Whatever" single. Childish Gambino loses his 3rd track, taken from his 2011 album Camp- it didn't chart until it went viral in 2023. George Ezra's other eligible song "Barcelona" got no points meaning George bows out here. Both are featured on his 2014 debut album Wanted On Voyage.

21 points Beastie Boys- Sabotage (UK chart peak: did not chart, platinum 14/03/2025) Limp Bizkit- Break Stuff (UK chart peak: did not chart, platinum 05/01/2024) Bring Me The Horizon- Can You Feel My Heart (UK chart peak: did not chart, platinum 30/08/2024) Auli'i Cravalho- How Far I'll Go (UK chart peak: 55, 2x platinum 15/10/2021) Sam Fender- Spit Of You (UK chart peak: 41, platinum 10/01/2025) "Break Stuff" is Limp Bizkit's most enduring song, taken from their 1999 album Significant Other. The music video features cameos from Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre and fellow nu-metaler Jonathan Davis of Korn. Their performance of the track at Woodstock '99 has gone down in infamy. "Can You Feel My Heart" is the album opener for BMTH's 4th album Sempiternal, it would later find fame as the theme of the internet's "GigaChad". I will correct myself from an earlier statement: "How Far I'll Go" and "Songbird" are the only two songs to go platinum and not hit the top 40 for 2 different artists. Alessia Cara's pop version of the song didn't receive points but the film version did, it is of course from Disney's 2016 film Moana. Sam Fender has 4 eligible tracks: all got votes. This one is taken from his 2nd album Seventeen Going Under. (I messed up on "Sabotage": it is credited as a double A-side with "Get It Together" which reached number 19 and because of this it did not show up in the OCC's terrible search bar when I was checking for its chart position. Didn't realise until writing for this post, sorry to Jaz13music who was the song's sole voter. Great song anyway and based on Jaz's votes I can assure this mistake did not affect which songs made the final.)

20 points Jodi Benson- Part Of Your World (UK chart peak: did not chart, platinum 17/01/2025) Eminem ft. Nate Dogg- Shake That (UK chart peak: 90, platinum 24/12/2021) Two Door Cinema Club- Undercover Martyn (UK chart peak: 79, platinum 20/05/2022) Ruth B- Dandelions (UK chart peak: 42, platinum 07/04/2023) Daniel Caesar ft. H.E.R.- Best Part (UK chart peak: did not chart, platinum 03/11/2023) "Part Of Your World" from Disney's 1989 film The Little Mermaid is often considered one of the best songs from any of their films: it is the "I Want" song for protagonist Ariel (voiced by Benson). "Shake That" is one of two Eminem and Nate Dogg collaborations eligible for this rate: taken from Em's 2005 compilation Curtain Call, it did not chart until 2013 but if download-only singles had counted towards the chart in 2006 it may have charted higher. "Undercover Martyn" is the first of three TDCC songs to drop out, all of them are from their 2010 album Tourist History. Ruth B's 2017 track "Dandelions" enjoyed a 30 week run in the top 100, peaking at 42 after going viral in 2022. It is not quite the record for longest run in the chart without going top 40 but still very impressive!

19 points Rusted Root- Send Me On My Way (UK chart peak: did not chart, platinum 18/12/2020) Kendrick Lamar- Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe (UK chart peak: did not chart, platinum 05/08/2022) Catfish & The Bottlemen- Kathleen (UK chart peak: did not chart, 2x platinum 04/04/2025) J. Cole- No Role Modelz (UK chart peak: did not chart, 3x platinum 05/04/2024) Dean Lewis- Waves (UK chart peak: did not chart, platinum 30/09/2022) Travis Scott ft. Kendrick Lamar- Goosebumps (UK chart peak: 65, 2x platinum 30/12/2022) "Send Me On My Way" was first recorded in 1992 but the best-known version is a 1994 re-recording which would be used in films such as 1996's Matilda and 2002's Ice Age. Kendrick loses 2 tracks here- "Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe" features on his 2012 album Good Kid M.A.A.D City and was originally going to feature Lady Gaga. Gaga would later release the version with her contributions herself. "Goosebumps" is from Travis Scott's 2016 album Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight and is Travis' most streamed song worldwide: it would have reached the top 40 in 2020 after Scott's virtual concert in Fortnite had it been reset, instead it reached 65 on ACR. A deep house version by Spanish producer HVME reached number 8 in 2021. "Kathleen" is Catfish & The Bottlemen's most successful single, included on their 2014 debut album The Balcony. "No Role Modelz" is the most successful single in UK history to never reach the top 100- it is also the only song from Cole to receive points out of his 5 eligible tracks. "Waves" is the debut single from Dean Lewis who would later have top 40 success with "Be Alright" and "How Do I Say Goodbye".

18 points Solomon Burke- Cry To Me (UK chart peak: did not chart, platinum 05/04/2024) Blue Swede- Hooked On A Feeling (UK chart peak: 90, platinum 04/06/2021) Fleetwood Mac- You Make Loving Fun (UK chart peak: 45, platinum 28/02/2025) James Bay- If You Ever Want To Be In Love (UK chart peak: 96, platinum 16/08/2024) "Cry To Me" was released in 1962 but would later become widely known after it was used in 1987's Dirty Dancing. "Hooked On A Feeling" was first recorded in 1968 by BJ Thomas but this 1973 cover by Swedish group Blue Swede is the best known version: it hit number 1 in America and would later be used in 2014's Guardians Of The Galaxy, helping it chart here for the first time. "You Make Loving Fun" becomes the second Rumours song to fall out, while James Bay loses his second and final eligible song, taken from his chart-topping 2015 debut album Chaos And The Calm.

17 points Kanye West ft. Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross and Bon Iver- Monster (UK chart peak: did not chart, platinum 07/03/2025) Grouplove- Tongue Tied (UK chart peak: 84, platinum 14/04/2023) Fall Out Boy- Immortals (UK chart peak: 84, platinum 24/06/2022) "Monster" is the only song eligible from Kanye's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, it is one of 2 songs from Yeezy to get points meaning none of his songs will advance to the semi-finals. Two 84 peaks here: "Tongue Tied" was a minor global hit for indie rock band Grouplove, while "Immortals" is Fall Out Boy's only eligible song. It was written for the 2014 Disney film Big Hero 6.

16 points Eva Cassidy- Songbird (UK chart peak: 56, platinum 12/04/2024) Ben Howard- Old Pine (UK chart peak: did not chart, platinum 19/05/2023) Beach House- Space Song (UK chart peak: did not chart, platinum 16/08/2024) Gerry Cinnamon- Belter (UK chart peak: 88, 2x platinum 20/09/2024) Julia Michaels and Niall Horan- What A Time (UK chart peak: 71, platinum 21/03/2025) "Songbird" is the only song to appear twice on the list of platinum non-top 40 songs: the original by Fleetwood Mac is yet to come. The late Cassidy's version charted unlike the original, reaching 56 in 2009 after an X Factor performance. It is featured on her 1998 album of the same name which reached number 1 in 2001. Ben Howard loses the first of his two eligible tracks. Gerry Cinnamon has 3 eligible songs but only 2 of them got points- "Belter" is taken from his 2017 debut album Erratic Cinematic. "Space Song" is another TikTok-fuelled sleeper hit from 2015- I'm a little embarrassed to admit my first exposure to the song was from a meme of Pedro Pascal laughing then crying. 😂

15 points Arctic Monkeys- Knee Socks (UK chart peak: did not chart, platinum 09/08/2024) Lauv- I Like Me Better (UK chart peak: 58, platinum 12/06/2020) "Knee Socks" is one of four tracks from the Arctics' 2013 album AM to go platinum without going top 40: all but one received points in this rate. "I Like Me Better" was released in 2017 and peaked that year in the UK, but in his native US the track spent 6 months on the chart before peaking at 27 in late 2018.

14 points The Offspring- You're Gonna Go Far Kid (UK chart peak: did not chart, platinum 01/03/2024) A$AP Rocky ft. Drake, 2 Chainz and Kendrick Lamar- F**kin' Problems (UK chart peak: 50, platinum 17/04/2020) Kristen Bell and Santino Fontana- Love Is An Open Door (UK chart peak: 56, platinum 10/09/2021) Zach Bryan- Something In The Orange (UK chart peak: 70, platinum 10/05/2024) One of the Offspring's most successful singles here is surprisingly one that never charted- only their number 1 "Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)" and number 11 "The Kids Aren't Alright" have done better than this. "F**kin' Problems" was originally a Drake ft. 2 Chainz track before Drake handed the song to Kendrick, Kendrick would then hand it back to Drake and it would eventually end up with Rocky who kept the other rappers' verses- safe to say this collab would never happen now. "Love Is An Open Door" is the only eligible track from Disney's 2013 film Frozen, though if the 3-track-per-artist rule existed at the time it impacted the charts we may have had more. The song is apparently intended as the villain song for Hans (voiced by Fontana). "Something In The Orange" is the most recent release eligible for the rate, being released in April 2022. It would have made the top 40 in early 2024 but it had gone to ACR by then and didn't increase in streams enough for a reset. It ended 2024 as the 92nd biggest song of the year.

13 points Buffalo Springfield- For What It's Worth (UK chart peak: did not chart, platinum 29/09/2023) Big Sean ft. E-40- I Don't F**k With You (UK chart peak: 67, platinum 07/10/2022) Another song closely associated with the Vietnam War appears in "For What It's Worth", however it was actually written about the 1966 Sunset Strip riots in LA. Big Sean's most successful song in the UK other than his feature on Calvin Harris' number 1 hit "Feels" also bows out: it is said to have been written about Sean's ex-girlfriend Naya Rivera, and Sean has said that he regrets making the song following her death in 2020. I'll give a mention to the song's memorable use in the 2017 film Fist Fight where an explicit performance of the track at a school talent show inspires Charlie Day's character to stand up to Ice Cube's character!

RATE: Buzzjack's Ultimate Platinum Non-Top 40 Single: Round 1
12 points Fleetwood Mac- Never Going Back Again (UK chart peak: did not chart, platinum 31/05/2024) Fleetwood Mac have done extremely well in the digital age with both their greatest hits and Rumours being album chart mainstays: Rumours alone has 4 tracks eligible for this rate, this is the first of them to depart. Written by Lindsey Buckingham following his break-up with Stevie Nicks, it was the B-side to "You Make Loving Fun" which is also eligible for the rate.

11 points Alt-J- Left Hand Free (UK chart peak: 85, platinum 09/09/2022) Flume ft. Kai- Never Be Like You (UK chart peak: 95, platinum 26/04/2024) Khalid- Location (UK chart peak: 67, platinum 12/07/2019) James Bay- Us (UK chart peak: did not chart, platinum 08/11/2024) Olivia Rodrigo- Brutal (UK chart peak: did not chart, platinum 19/07/2024) "Left Hand Free" is the first of Alt-J's two eligible tracks, it features on their only UK number 1 album This Is All Yours and appears on the soundtrack to 2016's Captain America: Civil War. "Never Be Like You" was a US top 20 hit and a number one in Flume's native Australia but only just scraped the top 100 here; it went viral in early 2024 and would've likely reached a new peak with a reset. James Bay also loses the first of his two eligible tracks, while Olivia Rodrigo's "Brutal" from her debut album Sour drops out, leaving her with no songs left as her other eligible track "Happier" did not get any points. All tracks from the album would've gone top 40 without the 3-track rule.

10 points Hailee Steinfeld- Love Myself (UK chart peak: did not chart, platinum 21/03/2025) Cigarettes After Sex- Apocalypse (UK chart peak: did not chart, platinum 23/02/2024) The Greatest Showman Cast- A Million Dreams (Reprise) (UK chart peak: did not chart, platinum 12/11/2021) Imagine Dragons- Bones (UK chart peak: 51, platinum 13/12/2024) Actress/singer Hailee Steinfeld's uncharted debut single from 2015 appears, as does another Greatest Showman song- this one would not have gone top 40 but would have charted without the 3 song rule. Of course the first version from the film and Pink's "reimagined" version both reached the top 40. "Bones" is one of the most recent releases eligible for the rate, released in March 2022. "Apocalypse" was released in 2017 but became a sleeper hit in 2022- it has since become a regular of the independent top 50 chart.

9 points 21 Savage- Bank Account (UK chart peak: 41, platinum 17/09/2021) Hugh Jackman and Zac Efron- The Other Side (UK chart peak: 48, 2x platinum 04/11/2022) 21 Savage's adlib-heavy "Bank Account" is his first solo song to chart in the UK, peaking at 41- his top 40 debut would be on "Rockstar" with Post Malone which reached number one around the same time this song peaked. "The Other Side" is another Greatest Showman track which would have made the top 40 if not for the 3-song-per-artist rule.

8 points T-Pain ft. Yung Joc- Buy U A Drank (Shawty Snappin') (UK chart peak: did not chart, platinum 06/12/2024) Neon Trees- Everybody Talks (UK chart peak: did not chart, platinum 04/08/2023) Until 2023 "Buy U A Drank" was the most recent US number 1 to not chart in the UK- the track almost went to Chris Brown but T-Pain refused to give it to him and kept it for himself. "Everybody Talks" was a number 6 hit in the States for Neon Trees, it was written by frontman Tyler Glenn about an ex-girlfriend who tried to out him as gay while he was still "in the closet".

7 points Peter Frampton- Baby I Love Your Way (UK chart peak: 43, platinum 11/10/2024) Rick Springfield- Jessie's Girl (UK chart peak: 43, platinum 07/06/2024) Dr. Dre ft. Eminem and Xzibit- What's The Difference (UK chart peak: did not chart, platinum 05/04/2024) James TW- When You Love Somebody (UK chart peak: 54, 2x platinum 12/01/2024) Two classic rock tracks that peaked at 43 drop out: "Jessie's Girl", which was a US number 1, and "Baby I Love Your Way" which would later become a number 2 hit in 1994 when covered by reggae group Big Mountain. Dre's "What's The Difference" is included on his 1999 album 2001, the beat would later be used on Blu Cantrell and Sean Paul's number 1 hit "Breathe" giving Eminem his only writing credit for a number 1 he didn't perform on. "When You Love Somebody" was written by James TW after a kid he was working with told him his parents were going through a divorce.

6 points Frank Sinatra- Fly Me To The Moon (UK chart peak: did not chart, platinum 25/08/2023) Childish Gambino- L.E.S. (UK chart peak: did not chart, platinum 06/06/2025) Daughter- Youth (UK chart peak: did not chart, platinum 19/05/2023) Sinatra has 3 songs eligible for the rate, one of them didn't get points and he loses one of them here. The song "Fly Me To The Moon" has enjoyed a lot of success in late 2021/2022 thanks to its use in Netflix's Squid Game and a sample on Dave's number 1 hit "Starlight", neither of these involved Frankie's version but his 1964 recording is the most well-known and surely gathered streams thanks to these events. A 2011 Childish Gambino album track becomes his second of four to be lost, while indie folk group Daughter's biggest song falls out. "Youth" is included on their 2013 debut album If You Leave. All three of these songs never charted in the UK!

John Legend- Like I'm Gonna Lose You (UK chart peak: 99, platinum 27/01/2023) Chris Stapleton- Tennessee Whiskey (UK chart peak: did not chart, platinum 16/06/2023) Kiiara- Gold (UK chart peak: 48, platinum 26/05/2023) Polo G ft. Lil TJay- Pop Out (UK chart peak: 41, platinum 13/05/2022) "Fortunate Son" is CCR's most successful song in the digital era. Written in protest of the Vietnam War's drafting procedures, the track was a top 3 hit in the US but never charted here- it has since become synonymous with the war and almost every piece of media set during the time period uses the song. The late Biggie Smalls loses the first of his two eligible tracks. "Tennessee Whiskey" was first written in 1981 and performed by David Allan Coe but this 2015 version by Stapleton is the best known version: he has performed the track with Justin Timberlake on multiple occassions. The two would later collaborate on JT's number 9 hit "Say Something". "Pop Out" is the first song to peak at number 41 to appear here.

Another song from Frank Ocean's Blonde appears which never charted- a version featuring Kendrick Lamar was leaked in August last year.

3 points Slipknot- Psychosocial (UK chart peak: 67, platinum 14/06/2024) Drake, Kanye West, Lil Wayne and Eminem- Forever (UK chart peak: 42, platinum 11/06/2021) Ed Sheeran- Kiss Me (UK chart peak: did not chart, platinum 07/01/2022) Childish Gambino- 3005 (UK chart peak: 79, platinum 17/07/2020) Frank Ocean- Pink + White (UK chart peak: did not chart, 2x platinum 16/08/2024) A few tracks to highlight here- Psychosocial is Slipknot's 2nd most successful in the UK behind their highest charting song "Duality" which reached number 15 in 2004. "Forever" was recorded for the soundtrack to 2009 LeBron James documentary More Than A Game- Kanye and Wayne were so impressed by Em's verse that they rewrote their verses to match it. "Kiss Me" from Ed Sheeran's + is the only one of his 3 eligible songs to get any points. Donald Glover loses the first of his 4 eligible tracks, all of them received points. "Pink + White" has never charted but would have done so in 2023 had it been given a reset- the song is produced by Pharrell and features additional vocals from Beyonce.
