Disgraceful that the Update is not up on the website yet. Talk about not doing your job properly.

I am hoping ANOTR and "Relax my eyes" can go top 40 this week.

Really excited to see the Eurovision songs chart so high. It was a terrific week in Liverpool and deserves reflected. I am hoping Teya and Selena can do well with "Who the hell is Edgar?" and Marco Mengoni can go top 100.

I am hoping Melanie Martinez and "Void" can squeeze into the top 40. What is the likelihood?

It seems that even songs that go on ACR, they are dropping less far down the charts these days. Does there need to be another ratio change? Looks like we have no new music, exciting stuff!
  9. Enjoying this station, songs from The Adverts and Karl Denver I had never heard of before, songs such as Videotheque by Dollar that I haven't heard in over 30 years and some bizarre ones such as Catherine Zeta Jones. Had 3 Go West songs today which is far too much of them for one day thanks. Overall, well worth a listen for us chart fans.

Liking the Calvin Harris song with touches of Dream house a la the late Robert Miles. But never that fussed on Ellie Goulding as a vocalist. Not happy they bypassed Pink and played Ezra!

I could laugh, the blurb on the Official Chart First Look says - see where Friday's new releases have landed. That's a laugh, no such thing any more! They must not listen to their own programme anymore. We now have November and December clogged up with old songs. And nearing the end of Q1 with so few new entries. They should redefine what this is, it is not actually a chart if nothing actually happens. Come on Trustfall by the way.

Looks like the remainder of the chart is remaining quite static apart from Pinkpantheress. Very disappointing.

Why have Linkin Park returned to the chart? Good to hear some rock music in top 20 these days.

I too would like Maneskin to be doing better. Is it because it is priced at over £16 on Amazon which seems a lot?

A very positive chart week after the gloom that are now Christmas charts. It serves no point to promote current albums at all anymore. Great to see some excellent fresh music from two of my favourite artists, Miley and Shakira. Also Libianca who I had watched in a series of The Voice USA charting in Uk. Just goes to show you never know who will make it from a talent comp. I would have liked to see Maneskin with Tom Morello in the top 100 too, hopefully when their album is released it will get there.

I cannot understand why Miguel with "Sure thing" has not been reset. This would bring a new peak surely. Rules should be applied equally.

Any chance that "You're on your own kid" can replace "Snow on the beach"? The former seems to have been ahead of the latter for sometime on Spotify.

Every week I hope for new songs but 2022 has been extremely stale. I think there needs to be an archive chart for songs more than 26 weeks old. So few new songs breaking through and therefore serves no purpose for promotion of music. Like 323 weeks for Mr Brightside, 128 weeks for Shotgun, 167 weeks for Someone you loved. 22 of last weeks top 100 in chart over half a year! And of course we have the 8 week period now of Christmas songs to come. It is brutal!

Is there a chance that Rosa Linn with "Snap" could be a future hit? The 2022 Armenian ESC entry which is getting a bit of traction.

Hopefully some Eurovision songs in the top 100 this week.

In an ideal world hoping that Lizzo, Swedish House Mafia and Jamie XX can all enter the top 75 this week. Hope springs eternal that we shall see some fresh music make an appearance!

The median of the full Top 40 songs dated last week in March at 10 year intervals is as follows 2022 is 8.5 weeks 2012 is 7 weeks 2002 is 3 weeks 1992 is 3 weeks 1982 is 5 weeks 1972 is 5.5 weeks 1962 is 6 weeks Proof that we are in the slowest chart period. It must be so difficult for aspiring artists to gain any foothold.

Yes extremely stale and boring, 16 of the update top 40 at least were released in 2021 and we are in a chart that will be officially dated April! And this comes after the now 6 week Christmas period when new music does not get a chance anymore. I would say the Singles chart is on life support.
  25. The Singles chart has never been solely about accurately reflecting musical taste by numbers, it has always also been a promotional tool to sell or consume more music. So in the past records were deleted such as "love is all around" in 1994 or further down the charts, older songs were removed between 75-100 I believe. As I pointed out a few weeks ago, it is preferable for a new artist to gain a top 100 foothold and who knows from that exposure, gain a following than Babyshark have its 70th week on the chart for example. And the less interest there is from the general pubic about the charts then it will lead to its further decline and demise.
