It’s the kind of thing I’d try to work out in order to help me get to sleep at night 😴
  2. They embrace it. When some friends realised that I could name a lot of songs from the 1st second or 2, made this into a game whilst we were in the car. What they didn’t realise is that I actually realised what was going to come next on the playlist before they played it 🤣 Then I have friends like @Jessie Where who are similar to me, and we can discuss and debate chart rules and regulations. And I handle their disinterested when I feed them a really (un) interesting fact about chart history 🤣

  4. B*gger. Just seen this - as I’ve been so busy with limited internet. Sia and Carrie would have been high up and therefore probably qualified for the next round. But… bring on the final! (Please give us a couple of weeks to vote )

  6. Pay attention Jessie! We get this all the time 😁
  7. Pink Pony Club for number 1 (again)! Or at least back to its favourite position of number 2!
  8. Hmmm. But will Alex decline by less than the market?
  9. Fleetwood Mac coming for Weeknd’s crown! Top 4 very soon - and will they catch Sam Fender before anyone else overtakes them?

Wow! Almost all charity singles, novelties, reality TV spin offs, boy bands and ex boy band members! The biggest surprises for me are Manic Street Preachers and Daniel Bedingfield - as well as the two Busted tracks - though I guess Busted had already sold hundreds of thousands of albums by the time those singles were released. But yes - very strange that ‘Slow’ was in that very short list. A very underrated track.
  11. I’ve never been a Take That fan but I found ‘Forever Love’ beautiful - I bought it despite never owning any TT music.
  12. Not quite the same: but it reminded me that the original version of Dreams by Gabrielle was pulled after getting loads of airplay because of the uncleared sample (or likeness) of Fast Car. Nonetheless it set a new record for the highest debuting debut single of all time. Please correct me if I’m wrong
  13. This sometimes happens when the music is identical (rather than remixed). The two versions get muddled up and combined. Something similar happened to Mae Muller ‘I Wrote A Song’ if my memory serves me correctly.
  14. Brilliant list! I always assumed ‘We Will Rock You’ was a double A side - but I’ve not checked.
  15. My top 2 out today - but at least they made the top 20. ‘My Immortal’ is one of my all time favourites - I first heard it in the Daredevil film and bought the soundtrack as soon as I could. One of the best film soundtracks ever in my opinion.

Does anyone know the next biggest selling single to miss the top 75 and the biggest to miss the top 100?
  17. Quite a clear out in two weeks time, I imagine!

‘The Chain’ must have set records for high certification v low chart peak. I wonder if anyone is brave enough to investigate what records it has set.
  19. Sad to see Kirsty so low! I love that song.

They just happen to be classics!
  21. I just find it amazing that such an old studio album, more than 45 years old, can still be one of the 10 biggest studio albums of the decade so far. Especially when it had no big hits in the UK at the time - none of them made the top 20. Part of the secret is in still having 3 massively streamed songs: Dreams, The Chain and Go Your Own Way. But I think also the album itself, unlike many other albums, is genuinely streamed as a whole.
  22. Can you clarify what you mean?

  24. Regarding Brenda: the two versions of RATCT appear to be on different record labels. I would assume that this means that they are not combined for chart purposes. Does anyone have an opinion, or any knowledge of this?

Amazing work! And great to finally see Kylie as one of the 10 greatest artists of all time!
