  1. Yes, I think I have had this in the past, but not from a highly successful track.
  2. Ah! I don’t know that series, but I see now that a lot of recent entries come from it.
  3. Interesting to see G Flip getting their chart debut a week after The Beaches - as they collaborated together earlier this year.
  4. Love the fact that 45 years on, The Fizz (Bucks Fizz) are still smashing it on iTunes!
  5. Only just realised this was released last year on Spotify! I saw them last year and they put on such a great show… Taking 25 years to release a debut album is quite iconic!
  6. It’s a shame his version of ‘Only You’ didn’t make a Number 1.
  7. Snap. Although I knew none of them had Number 1s.
  8. I’ve gone with Bon Jovi and Tina Turner: classic songs over a long period of time. Then Bruce Springsteen as I felt he was huge - and has released successful material over a long period of time. Bob Dylan could well be included but as his peak was before my time he doesn’t spring to mind. Avril Lavigne and Amy Winehouse didn’t have enough breadth of material (Amy, for obvious reasons), The Killers and Led Zeppelin were massive album acts but I couldn’t name many songs, and I really don’t think Janet Jackson was that big in the UK.
  9. ‘Dreams’ is catching up at present.
  10. I’m glad you have mentioned Bananarama, as I love them, but beyond my taste, I wouldn’t put them on a par with Bon Jovi and Tina Turner - particularly for cultural impact.
  11. Dolly Parton might have icon status - but I don’t feel she was particularly big in the UK when she was actively recording. Regarding Shania – she had one massive album, but other than that, I don’t think she was huge enough to fit this list. I would also say similar things about Bob Marley - he has legendary status now, but was not as successful during his lifetime. I think the same can be said of many people on this list. To be champion of this list, I feel you would need to have a considerable number of top 10 hits, and at least a couple of huge selling albums. I don’t feel Janet was successful enough in the UK to be included. I think Bon Jovi would probably be top. Also Guns ‘n’ Roses, Tina Turner and Bruce Springsteen - but maybe our opinions are also influenced by our age.

Yeah - I can’t figure out the Beauty & A Beat thing. Either it has increased massively compared with this time last week; or for some reason it has been granted a reset early in the week which practically never happens; or there are physicals; or Amazon has suddenly been feeding it to everyone. I have no idea, which is the most likely! And I haven’t checked his streaming figures on Spotify.
  13. With a big climb, don’t you think ‘Landslide’ fell by less than the market average? It climbed 125-92 on Audio Streaming - the second biggest rebounder. ‘Purple Rain’ rebounded more - and it seems there was quite a boost for songs in Stranger Things.
  14. Is that ‘Landslide’ refusing to ever go back to ACR? 😅
  15. Please remind us - which track holds the record for most weeks on this list?
  16. I imagine, therefore, they were only available until midnight last night
  17. So many great artists releasing stuff this week - it’ll be interesting to see what the new tracks sound like. But please - no more Three Lions! We have had enough. It will be fascinating to see how high Dua Lipa charts, now that it seems it will be treated as a greatest hits collection. In that sense it reminds me of Madonna’s ‘Finally Enough Love.’
  18. I think you’ll have to do it yourself 😜😜😜
  19. Great to see The Beaches entering. I didn’t know the song though, I have just realised it’s an old one.

I imagine it will end up being counted as a greatest hits compilation, therefore rather than having a negative impact on the studio albums, it will have a positive impact. The studio albums will still also be allocated streams, but overall because of the existence of the album, her streams will increase, and therefore the studio albums will chart higher (but not by much).
  21. With the songs in the 30s quite bunched up, I wonder if Fleetwood Mac, Dreams will climb quite a bit over the next few weeks. Great to see ‘Smooth Criminal’ in there - despite not having charted, and I imagine ‘Dirty Diana’ will eventually chart too. I’m sure we’ve had this chat before, but have there been many cases of a song not charting during a year, then ending up in the year end top 100? And are there other songs in there at the moment that haven’t charted this year? I think ‘Silver Springs’ was one of them but I’m not sure it is still in.

Ah! Thank you. This is the first time I have noticed it. Do you know when that change was made? Was it at the same time that they started lisiting positions from outside the top 100?

Am I right in thinking that on the OCC page, in the Chart Update, last week’s chart position usually refers to last week’s Chart Update position? I see that, at least for Fleetwood Mac who were still on ACR at this point last week, they have instead put last week’s final positions.

No. Actually quite fabulous. And the crowd of thousands loved it.

Just saw her perform it live this afternoon and it was iconic!
