Chart Campaign: Kylie Minogue 'Padam Padam' - Top 10!
Personally I would have agreed with you then that 12” should count more towards the chart.

Chart Campaign: Kylie Minogue 'Padam Padam' - Top 10!
I have to disagree with you here. The charts are supposed to represent how people spend their money on music. You wouldn’t go into a shop and expect to get your CDs for free. And this has nothing to do with Spotify - as it’s the same on all platforms, and it’s the decision of the OCC, not Spotify.

Yes! Top 40 on Spotify. Into the top 20 on Amazon. Confidently above Nathan Dawe on all streaming platforms and Sam/Madonna underperforming. Just wonder how many downloads BTS have - though they are not performing well on any streaming platform apart from Spotify.

Phew! That’s a relief. I assumed they would… but having studied the rules for years, I’m still finding new things I didn’t realise, or nuances I hadn’t understood.

Chart Campaign: Kylie Minogue 'Padam Padam' - Top 10!
Can anyone hear clarify whether cassette singles count towards the singles charts? According to the chart rules, the only physical formats recognised our CDs and vinyl. Then DVDs, Dualdisc and Digital Memory Device. But not cassette.

Woah! I never realised this rule existed, but it seems it does. And the rules make no mention of cassettes, which would imply that only CDs and vinyl would count! There’s always the possibility that they are counted, even though the rules don’t mention them - but my belief that Padam Padam could climb this week was based on the potential inclusion of the cassettes.

UK Rap is in sharp decline. If Kylie’s actual sales are higher than last week, she could climb above Fifty Fifty, Lewis Capaldi, Harry Styles and Loreen.

I was delighted with Kylie’s chart position. Bearing in mind I was saying 16 for most of the week, then update to 14 at the end – I was really surprised with number 12. If it hadn’t been for the fact that the two songs above it were so close, I would’ve been delighted. From her record company’s perspective, had it been top 10, it would not have been in such a good position to climb this week as well.

24 hours into the chart week and of the new entries, only J Hus is ahead of Kylie on Apple. Nathan Dawe etc looks like being a hit - but hopefully not above Kylie, and Sam Smith/Madonna looks like being a flop. The other songs on iTunes have not materialised on Apple Music. Hopefully the decline of other songs around it as well as streaming being similar to last week means Kylie’s sales will send her top 10 this week! I just got a random message from a friend’s husband, who I rarely speak to telling me that he is obsessed with Padam Padam.

I’ve upped my prediction from 16 to 14. I am going to be hopeful and say that ‘UK Rap’ and ‘Baby Don’t Hurt Me’ will be 16 and 15. 14 PP; 13 Dua Lipa; 12 ‘Trojan Horse’; 11 ‘Cupid’; 10 Lewis Capaldi. But it would only take a couple of 1000 extra CDs (held back) to climb to 10!

On the contrary - it means I’m going to be delighted if it makes the top 15! (Which it hopefully will do). In my mind, I’m playing the long game - and hoping that it will continue to build on streaming and peak in a future week. I am however, a bit concerned that its momentum has slowed. Knowing her record company, hopefully they will only add the additional sales this week if it looks like Kylie can make the top 10.

Unless something new erupts, I imagine PP will be at 16 this week. Dave/Central Cee have too much momentum - but I believe Dua Lipa does as well. The good thing about being stuck in a tough part of the chart is that it still has potential to climb next week. With so much strength around it - the top 12 will be too far ahead - and the record company will be wasting resources releasing any more material this week (i.e. tomorrow). Having pulled ahead of Loreen on downloads, it looks as though Kylie will have a 3rd week at number 1 on both sales and downloads. I assume that it was iTunes best seller yesterday despite not being number 1. Partly because iTunes appears to include at least two days downloads in its chart. And partly because of the two versions of PP charting. It is good to see that Kylie is now 18 on audio streaming! It was only number 20 yesterday, but that might have included videos too. She has climbed above Jax Jones and George Ezra who are both high (top 15) on Amazon. However, there are no more songs for her to climb above, because all the other songs around her are below her on Amazon.

I love this! 16 downloads ahead of Loreen! Can Kylie keep ahead of Loreen on downloads this week. She will clearly be number 1 on sales.

With Dave and Central Cee releasing an album, Kylie could now be 2 places lower.

It still appears at 11 for me!

All 3 times (or at least all three times that *I* heard it). Back for more today, so I’ll do another count 😅

Even Dannii can’t keep Kylie off the number 1 slot on iTunes for long! ‘Padam Padam’ is back to number 1.

I would agree with that. Maybe it doesn’t have quite the momentum that it had before, but I believe it is higher now than in all three streaming charts this time last week, and therefore will be higher on the streaming chart next week than this week. It will always be worth comparing one Friday with the previous Friday though – so I look forward to seeing how she is on Spotify tomorrow.

A new peak for Kylie then! I think it is worth noting, though that, when Into The Blue was on the audio streaming chart, it was not incorporated into the main chart. That came later the same year.

Taylor at 24. So do we think Kylie ended having some CD sales added? Taylor was a long way ahead on Wednesday. Or was Taylor just in freefall.

Kylie isn’t 26! Woohoo. She’s climbed and we are all happy.

Hopefully no one will post spoilers. But Late Night Talking isn’t above PP - but I feel ‘The Best’ (which hadn’t been reset in the midweeks) might be above PP - as it is clearly in the top 30

iTunes: #1 Kylie Minogue #2 Dannii Minogue Loving the Minogue pile up at the top of the chart! Dannii is coming for her crown 👑 😁 Over on Apple, only one new release (Dave and Central Cee) is currently making much progress - so this could knock Kylie out of the top 10

Great start to the week! Back up to 10 on Apple Music. Suddenly shooting up to 43 on Amazon - probably as a result of finally being playlisted there.
