The big questions: will Mariah and Wham! physical counts get reset, and therefore be chart eligible? Will various versions of Band Aid be combined for chart purposes? Does anyone have any recollection how these issues have been handled in the past?
  2. I think so. Though Amazon Christmas song data will already be in decline but if Christmas was on a Thursday, Christmas Day streams from other platforms would not fully be included.
  3. I take that back: Amazon Prime chart is now including Christmas songs: 31 Mariah 32 Wham! 52 Ariana 100 Mariah again 111 Wham! again
  4. Amazon Prime does not seem to include Christmas songs in its chart (I think they become included from December 1). Amazon Music Unlimited: 12 Mariah 18 Wham! 28 Pogues 70 Shakin’ Stevens 90 Brenda Lee 98 Ariana Grande But I feel this is only the minority of Amazon users, and does not show the full power of Alexa.

Likewise - I really appreciate reading them - but I have nothing to add and try not to interact too much on forums.
  6. It’s gotta be Supersister, Coffee! Such a classic.
  7. I came to say exactly the same thing: I predicted Wham! would take the lead on the first Monday of November. Tbf it appears Wham! held the lead during October. It’s mostly Mariah’s self promotion that gives her a couple of days in the lead - but then again if it wasn’t for Mariah, the world probably wouldn’t be listening to Christmas music at such a high level so early in the season.
  8. Someone mentioned that there were no Christmas songs on the Amazon chart yet. Sometimes Amazon withholds its Christmas songs from their chart until December (effectively the chart is fake). That is the Amazon Prime chart. However the Amazon Music Unlimited Chart has: 21 Mariah (22 an hour ago) 22 Wham! (26 an hour ago) 59 The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl Last year in the official chart, Wham! charted higher from the start but that did not include November 1st and 2nd: November 1st is Mariah’s best day (in comparison) so it will be a closer battle between the two on the Official Chart this week as the chart will include the whole of the first week of November.
  9. I have a feeling that this year people are celebrating Halloween later therefore starting Christmas later. Wham! have narrowed the gap with Mariah quicker this year than last year.
  10. Big lead for Wham! on Apple. On Spotify, ‘Last Christmas’ seems to have very poor playlisting this year.
  11. Question: (I don’t think this has been discussed). Is it a) possible b) likely for ‘Apple’ and ‘Guess’ to avoid ACR by increasing streaming by 25%? On Spotify for example, Apple must have around double the streams on Friday that it had on Thursday. —— Edit: just realised this has been discussed in detail in the streaming thread.

Love it! The alternative reality where Kylie reached number 1 with her first 11 singles.
  13. I forget the rules about ACR and old songs. Chappell Roan, Pink Pony Club - wouldn’t this be on DCL too because despite only being in the chart 3 weeks, it had already been on ‘permanent ACR’, hence it hadn’t charted!

Great to see Kylie in the two airplay charts, but with different tracks!
  15. Hooray for Linkin Park going gold and hitting the top 40, but sad that they’ve knocked out George Michael.

‘Pink Pony Club’ going silver the week IT CHARTS is hysterical. And just as I was wondering whether it was going to eventually become a rare song to be one of the 100 biggest selling singles of the year without ever charting. Can anyone think of any previous examples of a song being one of the 100 biggest songs of the year without having any chart history?
  17. Ah - that bumper sales week is probably partly responsible for ‘Pink Pony Club’ finally moving from ‘permanent ACR’ to ‘SCR’
  18. I agree - at least 4 hits for Noah! I was hoping to see Fleetwood Mac reach the top 5 - but Oasis are now coming to overtake them. Finally some 2024(ish) albums by male artists passing the 100,000 mark. And looking forward to Linkin Park making the top 40 (though unfortunately at the expense of George Michael.)

Is this the first time you’ve estimated Pink Pony Club to be above Red Wine Supernova?
  20. Top 8 albums to make their chart debut this year - and to reach 100,000 2024 sales - now by female soloists, as Sabrina reaches the 100,000 mark before Eminem and Teddy Swims.

Little Mix and Steps on the same number of points! I imagine the rest might be close too. Edit: oops, I see someone else said this.

Heartbeat was already on Step One. Tragedy was on the Bee Gees Tribute Album, though I had forgotten that until you mentioned it - but back then people often bought singles, even if they had been included on albums already. Particularly in this case, as Tragedy hadn’t been on a Steps album, people were keen to buy it instead of spending several times as much buying the tribute album.

That’s interesting to hear that. I was around at the time, and I remember the buzz was all about ‘Tragedy’ even before it was released - and on the back of that I remember them playing ‘The Dot Cotton Club’ in Cambridge and ‘GAY’ in London on the same night. But I didn’t have a tv at the time, so maybe that’s why my perspective was different.
  24. I see not… Small Bump was another of my favourites.
  25. Yes! Overpass Graffiti is one of my favourite Ed Sheeran tracks so I was sad not to see it on there. Were those the only 3 singles missing? I haven’t checked.
