This week "Messy" is one of those very rare tracks that is number 1 in both sales and streaming but, due to ACR, not number 1 overall. I think this happened to Despacito in 2017, can anyone think of any other instances?
  2. Thanks for all the lists, incredibly helpful. Would I be correct in saying there are now 21 tracks with more than 4.2 million chart units all time? And a further 17 tracks with more than 3.6m chart units all time? Presumably Dance Monkey and Castle on The Hill must be close to being declared 7x platinum?
  3. Thank you. I find it fascinating how close they all are. I think I had expected Band Aid to be a little closer to Ed Sheeran.
  4. Does anyone have 2024 "sales" estimates for the original Band Aid, "Someone You Loved" and "Shape of You"? These three, plus "Mr. Brightside" and "Last Christmas" must surely now comprise the all-time Top 5 songs. I'm assuming Shape of You must be close to being certified 11 x Platinum, likewise "Someone You Loved" must now be very close to being certified 10 x platinum?
  5. Good streaming figures for Wham this week, over 10.5 million streams on Spotify alone.
  6. Mr Brightside was certified 9x Platinum on 16/02/24, Someone You Loved will no doubt also be certified 9x Platinum this week or next. Perfect must be in excess of 5.30m by now? Does anyone have up to date figures for Bohemian Rhapsody and All I Want for Christmas is You?

Thank you very much, most helpful. I'm new to this, but from the above I have compiled a Top 15 of all time, all of which have reached the 4 million chart units total. Where a song was outside the 2023 year end Top 100, I have made a sales estimate based on the time since the most recent BPI platinum award, and the time taken to achieve the previous BPI platinum award. 1 Shape of You 6.15m 2 Do They Know It's Christmas 5.95m 3 Last Christmas 5.53m 4 Mr. Brightside 5.29m 5 Someone You Loved 5.27m 6 Perfect 5.22m 7 Bohemian Rhapsody 5.03m 8 Candle In The Wind 4.99m 9 All I Want for Christmas is You 4.97m 10 Thinking Out Loud 4.58m 11 Wonderwall 4.33m 12 Blinding Lights 4.26m 13 Shotgun 4.23m 14 UpTown Funk 4.20m 15 FairyTale of New York 4.04m Does anyone have any additions or corrections?

Does anyone have a "final" figure for Candle In The Wind '97? From somewhere, I have the figure of 4,864,611?
  9. Thank you. I'm pretty sure it was a different recording of Three Lions that topped the charts in 1998?
  10. So it is looking like Last Christmas will be Number 1 on Friday. Would I be correct therefore in saying that this would therefore be the first occasion that the same recording by the same artist has made number 1 on four separate occasions?
  11. Thanks Jim!
  12. Hello everyone, I just wanted to check that the current list is as follows 5 times - Do They Know It's Christmas (by 5 different artists) 4 times - Unchained Melody (by 4 different artists) 4 times - I Believe (by 2 different artists) 4 times - Singing The Blues (by 2 different artists) 4 times - 3 Lions (by the same artist) Any that I have missed? Thanks in advance.
  13. Has anyone else noticed that the video for “Padam Padam” was shot at the same location as Charlotte Devaney’s “Flip It (The Edit)” ft. Snoop Dogg?
