Saw it last night and thought it was fantastic. I'm indebted to my wife for telling me it was written and directed by the guy who did Whiplash as that's probably my favourite film of the last decade. Otherwise I might have overlooked it. I thought the ending was perfect. The montage was fun and was a clever way of giving the audience the "happy ending" and then making them realise both endings are happy...but realistically there was only one way for them both to achieve their goals. By going their separate ways at that time. It's sadly very true to life - you meet someone at the wrong time and you do wonder what might have been...but often you do that from a point of happiness...just with someone else. It also lets you know why there were so many references to Casablanca. Except, in this case, they won't "always have Paris". Quite the opposite and, as the perfectly timed smiles at the end show (here's looking at you, kid...and you, kiddo), they're all the better for it. As for the songs, I can't remember any of them apart from their main theme he plays on the piano. But, so what? I enjoyed them and they added to the magic of the film.
  4. Good grief, that chart gets worse every year.

Last year's Royal Rumble was ok but I'm wracking my brains to remember a really good one in the past 15 years or so. It's one of the only things I make a habit of watching every year, that and some of Wrestlemania, but I might not bother from now on. Some wrestlers were lying around on the floor for about 8 minutes while they set up all the Wrestlemania stories for the old farts who only want to work for 3 minutes at pay per view rate as Lesnar, Goldberg and Undertaker all miraculously "picked" high numbers right next to each other. I used to hate it when somebody came in and cleared the ring so there were only two people left, but at least that was a bit more realistic. Of course it's all planned out, but it's not really a match any more just an hour of obvious and disappointing set-pieces.
  6. I'd have liked to have seen it a lot higher. The album is pretty good too.
  7. Damn, got seduced by Kingmaker being there when I really should have voted for New Order so it could tie with REM. Definitely REM's worst song ever.
  8. One of the better nominations overall. Good to see it finish in the top 100.

I'm guessing Pete Wylie didn't want to appear on the show and there was no video? Otherwise can't understand why Wah! haven't been on yet!
  10. I've voted Lib Dem in every single election apart from the last general election where I voted SNP in the vain hope that they would be able to form a coalition with Labour. But then England stayed blue for some reason and, despite a landslide in the seats they fought in, the SNP gained no real power but did replace the Lib Dems as the third party. So, I'm kinda perpetually doomed to be a supporter of the bronze-placed party. Lib Dems next time it is then.

Plus they would often get reduced along with the other Christmas tat that didn't sell before the 25th!

I saw that on Twitter this morning. Are they trying to induct people who are still active in order to get younger fans to watch the ceremony? Can't understand why he would get in before Rick Rude, Mike Rotunda, The British Bulldogs or Demolition.
  13. Three of mine out on the first day, but not surprising as my definition of indie / alternative is very different to most folk on here. Thanks for featuring King Creosote's video in that part of the rundown. Criminal that it didn't receive any further points from anyone! Ditto Cate Le Bon. Cheers to whoever gave Malcolm Middleton some points and I'm assuming Teenage Fanclub picked up a few too elsewhere. At least Teleman featured in several BJ users charts, so fingers crossed it gets me one track in the top 100.

Have you played this? What did you think of the song? It's not their greatest, but nice to see that name mentioned on Buzzjack.

It was released on 12" for the first time in 1982 I think with an extended mix, so a lot of DJs contributed to the sales. It amazes me that I Feel Love will be 40 years old this year and still sounds fresher than 99% of the current top 40. It carried on selling beyond Christmas, which is rare for a novelty track. Keith and Orville were probably either finishing the panto season or basking in the success of their Christmas TV special, hence the repeat and the controversial sign of a Christmas tree in January.
