Take That - Odyssey: The Greatest Hits
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatIt wasn't great both Mark and Robbie. I think in terms of the huge lack of success of this album outside the UK, is the fact nobody or very few have released Greatest Hits albums in at least past 8 years since 2010. Other audiences may have been aware but just listened to odd tracks and not the whole, or the originals. If this album proves the reason why GH's aren't successful in current climate, at least they tried with it and did something different. The album hasn't charted in Greece first week whereas all previous reunion albums, including Wonderland did. Let's see in the next few weeks though when Gary said 'I don't give a **** if the album is a hit or not to be honest' I think this is starting to show with only focus put on the UK. It could be promo is done in other countries whilst they are touring next year in the nations.

Take That - Odyssey: The Greatest Hits
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatI'm pleased with German top 20 debut. Netherlands and Italy I'm disappointed in. Italy especially as it's always been a nation easily in their top 5 outside the UK for success. I think for the tour outside the UK, it would have been good for them to have seen which countries they are still top 40 in and gone to those nations and really toured them.

Take That - Odyssey: The Greatest Hits
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatThanks so much Better Man! That's great. It's interesting to hear first hand from other countries as info is harder to come by from their first time around. TT and Depeche Mode back then is quite different crowds!

Take That - Odyssey: The Greatest Hits
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatThank you for the picture! Looking at those cassettes are really nostalgic! It makes sense for their 30th though as they are showing all the changed formats since they first released in 1991. Better Man I see your flag is Russian, I know East 17 were far more popular in Russia but were TT a big act in Russia 90's and present? Thanks.

Take That - Odyssey: The Greatest Hits
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatTrue iTunes isn't what it once was .. however wouldn't we want TT to be high on any list/format as opposed to non existent? It's an indicator still for audience though nowhere near the definitive now. In terms of consistency on iTunes, UK, Ireland and Denmark have all had the album in the top 10 throughout week. If you add physical sales there is a chance for a high debut in those nations. I remember the Wonderland peaks all tailing off by end of week, then being surprised by how high some of the first week chartings were in some countries. We'll have to see.

Take That - Odyssey: The Greatest Hits
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatCountries album reached #1 on itunes at any point: Chile, Denmark, Ireland, Latvia, Egypt, UK, Israel, Bahrain. Hopefully they'll release all other continent tour dates soon as this would self serve as promo also and help record. I echo Everlasting, a really catchy song and the one stuck in my head. Out Of Our Heads truly is the worst of the three in my opinion although it is by far the most unique and less obvious track for them to have gone with. In terms of reworked versions I liked all of them. I don't like the update of Back For Good, the beat is harsher and more obvious, less soft and dreamlike in my opinion. I know it was the only change made but that song was perfect in every way already.

nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatStrong initial debut in NZ/Oz. ITunes Albums: New Zealand: #7 Australia: #9 I hope it stays strong for the week over there as will have a ripple effect. Success creates success etc. I like the new versions however am not sold on Out of Our Heads, I just don't like it. Though hope it charts tomorrow as to chart is something on the singles even if not high.

Take That - Odyssey: The Greatest Hits
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatSo in terms of UK top 10's (20 total) only Why Can't I Wake Up With You is left off the Greatest Hits. I wonder if this is because it's had two versions in it's time and a third might be a step too far they felt. The track list is perfect, though for me personally, I'd have took Cry out and put Love Love in instead or maybe Kidz. I see Never Forget is a minute shorter. As epic as the song is, once the fan fare dies down it's a long old wait to that glorious chorus, as many have found out picking the song for karaoke. If they've shortened that part to make it a minute shorter I think it'll be amazing.

Take That YT & Streams Statistics - Countries Of Popularity
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatThe top 10 have their own stats for views/streams in places for that country and also a top highest 20 songs. I'll just put the top 10 for each though. I've selected the year stats again. Lot of info sorry!!! WORLDWIDE 1.Back For Good 2.The Flood 3.Rule The World 4.Patience 5.How Deep Is Your Love 6.These Days 7.Shine 8.Greatest Day 9.Could It Be Magic 10.Love Love This isn't a surprise and is consistent with the facts we know about Take That. During the 90's TT had four singles chart all over the world on every continent. In terms of rank of success - 1.BFG MASSIVE & stunning stats speak for themselves. 2.HDIYL another huge global chart topper on every continent. 3.NF followed BFG and a top ten global smash worldwide. 4.Pray hit and miss in peaks though global in the fact like other three it at least charted on every continent, none of other 90's singles achieved that. These four songs all charted well across Africa in the 90's. A continent that is now far behind all the others in terms of reunion success for the group. They do have a current African audience, it's just not comparable or at the levels of the other world continents for the band. This is why Brits may be surprised HDIYL ranks high on views/streaming - it was a global smash. When TT said they were going out on top, internationally this truly was the case. The largest two have remained in top ten. NF just misses out at #11 and Pray is #17 now in 2018 overtaken by tracks (Everything Changes, Babe & Relight My Fire) that were hits on a few continents but not all of them like Pray was. We know that Patience and The Flood were massive singles all over the world on every continent and RTW though patchy as a single has found a global audience over time through Stardust and the Olympics performance to rank highly. Magic at #9 is the Robbie factor and as you can see below has been chosen over EC as the 90's Robbie TT song in global audience 2017/18. EC is #14 for the year. The surprise for me is These Days at #6, though I seem to recall this doing well in Asia and the Caribbean more than Europe. UK 1.The Flood 2.Rule The World 3.Back For Good 4.These Days 5.Never Forget 6.Greatest Day 7.Shine 8.Patience 9.Giants 10.A Million Love Songs MEXICO 1.Back For Good 2.The Flood 3.Love Love 4.How Deep Is Your Love 5.Rule The World 6.Patience 7.Could It Be Magic 8.Get Ready For It 9.Shine 10.These Days ITALY 1.Back For Good 2.The Flood 3.Patience 4.Rule The World 5.Shine 6.How Deep Is Your Love 7.Love Love 8.Everything Changes 9.Relight My Fire 10.Could It Be Magic GERMANY 1.The Flood 2.Patience 3.Back For Good 4.Rule The World 5.Never Forget 6.These Days 7.Relight My Fire 8.How Deep Is Your Love 9.Could It Be Magic 10.Shine BRAZIL 1.Back For Good 2.How Deep Is Your Love 3.The Flood 4.Patience 5.Rule The World 6.Love Love 7.Get Ready For It 8.These Days 9.Greatest Day 10.Could It Be Magic USA 1.Back For Good 2.Rule The World 3.The Flood 4.Get Ready For It 5.Patience 6.How Deep Is Your Love 7.Greatest Day 8.These Days 9.Shine 10.Could It Be Magic SPAIN 1.Back For Good 2.The Flood 3.Patience 4.Rule The World 5.How Deep Is Your Love 6.Love Love 7.Shine 8.These Days 9.Never Forget 10.Greatest Day ARGENTINA 1.Back For Good 2.How Deep Is Your Love 3.The Flood 4.Patience 5.Rule The World 6.Could It Be Magic 7.Love Love 8.It Only Takes A Minute 9.Everything Changes 10.Shine CHILE 1.Back For Good 2.How Deep Is Your Love 3.The Flood 4.Could It Be Magic 5.Patience 6.Rule The World 7.Everything Changes 8.Love Love 9.It Only Takes A Minute 10.These Days IRELAND 1.The Flood 2.Rule The World 3.Back For Good 4.Never Forget 5.These Days 6.Greatest Day 7.Patience 8.Shine 9.A Million Love Songs 10.Could It Be Magic No top ten appearance in these nations for Pray, Babe or Sure for the past year. 2024 update: Top Markets: Take That: 1.UK 2.Indonesia. 3.Brazil. 4.Philippines. 5.Germany. 6.Italy. 7.USA. 8.Spain. 9.Argentina. 10.Malaysia. Take That & Westlife
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatOut of curiosity here are the ten places the past year Take That & Westlife were most viewed on youtube & streamed. Highlighted in bold a nation in largest top 10 IFPI music market for 2017. Top 10 places listening and streaming past year TAKE THAT 1.London,UK (Europe) 2.Santiago,Chile (South America) 3.Dublin,Ireland (Europe) 4.Rome,Italy (Europe) 5.Milan,Italy (Europe) 6.Lima,Peru (South America) 7.Tel Aviv,Israel (Asia) 8.Budapest,Hungary (Europe) 9.Sao Paulo,Brazil (South America) 10.Liverpool,UK (Europe) 6 Europe, 3 South America & 1 Asia. Other highest places from other continents for past year: 24.Sydney,Australia (Australasia) 49.New York,USA (North America) - None in top 100 (Africa) Total places out of 100: 66 Europe, 13 South America, 12 Asia, 5 Australasia, 4 North America & Africa none. WESTLIFE 1.Jakarta,Indonesia (Asia) 2.Bangkok,Thailand (Asia) 3.Quezon City,Philippines (Asia) 4.Kaula Lumper,Malaysia (Asia) 5.Ho Chi Minh City,Vietnam (Asia) 6.Surabaya,Indonesia (Asia) 7.Hanoi,Vietnam (Asia) 8.Makati,Philippines (Asia) 9.Cebu City,Philippines (Asia) 10.Davao City,Philippines (Asia) 10 - Asia Other highest places from other continents for past year: 16.London,UK (Europe) 21.Nairobi,Kenya (Africa) 29.Lima,Peru (South America) 39.Sydney,Australia (Australasia) 43.New York,USA (North America) Total places out of 100: 81 Asia, 5 North America, 4 Africa, 4 Europe, 3 Australasia and 3 South America. Top 10 countries listening and streaming past year TAKE THAT 1.UK (Europe) 2.Italy (Europe) 3.Germany (Europe) 4.Brazil (South America) 5.USA (North America) 6.Spain (Europe) 7.Argentina (South America) 8.Chile (South America) 9.Ireland (Europe) 10.Mexico (North America) 5 Europe, 3 South America & 2 North America Other highest nations from other continents for past year: 15.Australia (Australasia) 17.Japan (Asia) 49.South Africa (Africa) Total countries out of 100: 43 Europe, 24 Asia, 12 North America, 10 South America, 9 Africa & 2 Australasia. WESTLIFE 1.Indonesia (Asia) 2.Philippines (Asia) 3.Vietnam (Asia) 4.Thailand (Asia) 5.USA (North America) 6.UK (Europe) 7.Malaysia (Asia) 8.India (Asia) 9.Taiwan (Asia) 10.South Korea (Asia) 8 Asia, 1 Europe & 1 North America Other highest nations from other continents for past year: 11.Brazil (South America) 20.South Africa (Africa) 22.Australia (Australasia) Total countries out of 100: 33 Asia, 30 Europe, 19 Africa, 8 North America, 7 South America & 3 Australasia. They interestingly have different areas of popularity from each other. In terms of TT Wonderland Live Tour last year and daring to go to new places, Israel, New Zealand being a first time and Australia after 20+ years. Dubai again after a couple of years. All those cities are represented in the top 100 for past year, except the two NZ cities which didn't make the 100. I think this shows that touring has a huge effect, the fact Tel Aviv shot up to #7 for the year proves this and hopefully they've now learned you need to tour all of these countries to see results. On top 10 countries list, five countries they have never toured, the three South American countries - Chile, Argentina, Brazil and in North America - USA and Mexico. For top 10 cities list, they haven't toured in Chile, Peru, Brazil or Hungary in Europe select cities of popularity.

nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatThat may be so in your opinion, however neither have had one song as successful as Back For Good was all over the world. #1 in 31 nations all over the world and BSB 'I Want It That Way' #1 in 25 nations. Westlife never impacted the world so much with just one song so regardless of record sales, TT reached a level in higher than both have, regardless if only brief. Though as I've said before, over time both sold more as they got out to the whole world touring far more than TT were willing to.

Take That YT & Streams Statistics - Countries Of Popularity
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatTouring as far as I can see makes a huge difference. My biggest wish for Take That in all phases was that they got out there and toured Africa, North America and South America at least once and Asia and Australia far more also. Gary mentions they all had ambition. How can that be so if they never truly took their music and tours all around the world? Howard and Jason were against too much travel and work back then, which I feel held them back. Robbie, Gary and Mark have all said they wish they had gone for it more back in the 90's. Taking the past two tours since 2015 and showing the effects of this (UK excluded) on the top 100 places for last year reads like this: 3.Dublin,Ireland 5.Milan,Italy 7.Tel Aviv,Israel 17.Vienna,Austria 21.Berlin,Germany 23.Bangkok,Thailand 24.Sydney,Australia 25.Melbourne,Australia 36.Hamburg,Germany 37.Singapore,Singapore 39.Munich,Germany 45.Cologne,Germany 48.Zurich,Switzerland 53.Amsterdam,Netherlands 55.Brisbane,Australia 56.Perth,Australia 59.Dubai,UAE 96.Adelaide,Australia As for the countries as a whole in the top 100: 2.Italy 3.Germany 9.Ireland 15.Australia 16.Netherlands 19.Israel 21.Denmark 22.Austria 30.Switzerland 32.Thailand 45.New Zealand 46.Singapore 48.UAE 91.Jersey I think this shows that touring has a huge effect and is still the most effective way to create interest and success. Top 10 places in UK past year 1.London 2.Liverpool 3.Glasgow 4.Birmingham 5.Leeds 6.Manchester 7.Sheffield 8.Newcastle 9.Bristol 10.Edingburgh So aside from London and Bristol in south and Birmingham in the midlands, a very strong northern presence with Scotland in as well.

Take That & Westlife
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take That... Nobody said either of those things nor was it referenced as such in the said article. A sign of youthful sensibility perhaps, though you're right they're both on same levels of achievement. If you are referring to my want for them to remain the biggest selling boyband in the UK that's just natural as a fan. Based on Official Charts Company UK sales as it stands at the moment: TT: 13.7 mil albums / 10.6 mil singles = 24.3 million Westlife: 12 mil albums / 7.4 mil singles = 19.4 million 4.9 million in total more records sold by TT. However TT were a huge 7.5 million records behind when they got back together in 2005, so you never know. You know what though? It doesn't matter there's more to life than two pop bands. You'll see that one day. Ultimately it's music not stats that may or may not out live both groups. It's just nice to know TT have sold so well. What I will say however is, TT fans accepted when WL were millions of records sold ahead of them in the UK with no fuss all those years. Then it changed in the other direction with TT currently millions more sold than Westlife in the UK. Difference being WL fans unlike Take That fans have a hard time accepting this change, which I don't understand as Westlife have sold slightly more worldwide. So why the big fuss over the UK? You know Everything Changes right? However, with Westlife's return I hope their fans have matured as well. Hopefully the new music will reflect this.

Take That & Westlife
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take Thathttps://www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbiz/75202...e-that-success/ I suppose this was quite inevitable so will be interesting to see. I'd just like TT to remain the biggest in the UK on sales. Having Ed Sheeran write you a song doesn't always work, look at Boyzone, that song didn't go anywhere.

Take That & Westlife
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatThat's actually a really good point that I never thought about actually. My Love is an original song and in their top 10 3 covers. Surely that should have told them to stick with originals though we know that didn't happen. It's good My Love but the music video isn't amazing in my opinion.
