OCC: Take That's Top 40 Best Selling Singles
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatThere are a few UK sales certifications I'd love to see or am shocked that the song/album hasn't hit a certain level: The vast majority are the 90's output which sales wise reflected their time but now need to come in line with their status and reunion sales. Singles: Never Forget: I completely agree with other people who are surprised that this isn't a Platinum selling single in Britain. However it will be at some point. A Million Love Songs: It's mad that such a well recognised and reality singing television favourite and repeat radio staple hasn't even gone Silver (200,000 copies sold in Britain) though again in time this will happen. I would have had this song down as gold (400,000) at least due to it's profile. Said It All/Love Love: I'd love both of these to hit Silver however am not sure as neither are given airtime by the group on TV performances. Giants: This song is still played on TV and on other programme promos and clearly has an audience and a use so a Silver certification at least would be great. Albums: Take That & Party! Will this album ever hit 3x Platinum (900,000) as it's lingered for decades at 30,000 copies shy and 870,000 total sales. Greatest Hits (96) After Take That era a 4x Platinum album was the most common average selling album threshold for a boyband as Westlife, Blue, Boyzone repeatedly had this level as boyband sales peaked after Take That. This album is less than 100,000 copies from going 4x Platinum but that said if TT&P is struggling to gather 30,000 than 100,000 perhaps is a huge ask. The Ultimate Collection from 2005 is clearly the Greatest Hits of choice between the two. Wonderland going Platinum (300,000 copies sold) and at the year end was 217,000 however has grinded to a complete halt. For a band like Take That they need to remain at a Platinum album level in the UK. I can live with a drop in sales but not too steep so here's hoping Wonderland joins the Platinum club. Leading up to the Greatest Hits why not release all the studio albums again like Phil Collins every few weeks to boost their numbers then off the back of that release the Greatest Hits with new songs? However I can't see them promoting former album re-releases as I believe the 90's output is on a different label.

nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatI'm wondering what is everyone's favourite Take That song per individual member? I'm only doing a full lead on a Take That song however it's up to you if you want to include partial leads. I'm judging mine by my ipod play count! Gary: Pray Howard: Never Forget Jason: Wooden Boat Mark: Babe Robbie: Everything Changes Gary: Pray is such a great and strong vocal along with the step up of production for this track which Gary matches. He also does some great vocal work towards the end of the track with some higher notes. (Top three runners up: Love Ain't Here Anymore, Relight My Fire, The Flood (partial lead) Howard: Never Forget is an anthem and is perfect for Howards voice and he does a great vocal on this which in my opinion a better vocal and song hasn't been better matched for him since. (Top three runners up: Here, Beautiful World, Mancunian Way) Jason: What a fantastic surprise here with Wooden Boat. Jason and his guitar on a mellow track which highlights his voice perfectly. In terms of tone I would actually put Jason third behind Gary & Robbie. (Top three runners up: The Garden (partial lead), Flowerbed, How Did It Come To This) Mark: Babe is a song which until this time last year and the airing of the Carpool karaoke this was outplayed by both Shine and The Day After Tomorrow by me. The latter of which has led for years and was a lost opportunity single in my opinion. Marks vocals were perfect for Babe and I love the vocal harmonies he's backed up with by the other band members similar to The Day After Tomorrow. The song lyrics are also interesting telling a story and also helps this songs strength as well. I also like the song River from Wonderland which Mark sings lead on. (Top three runners up: The Day After Tomorrow, Do It All For Love, Shine) Robbie: Close call between Everything Changes and Could It Be Magic his two Take That singles. Changes takes it and I think is his better vocal although overall Magic perhaps has more charm and personality behind it. (Top three runners up: Could It Be Magic, The Flood (partial lead), Happy Now (partial lead) )

Greatest Hits 2018 and full World Tour 2019
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatIn anticipation of Take That World tour I've decided to run a list of shows they have done in countries touring or publicised concerts. I've left out festivals as the only non UK festival they did was in Mexico at the Acapulco music festival in 1993. They were a last minute addition to the festival pulled off last minute by Nigel after having filmed the Pray music video earlier and so this wasn't a publicised set and also they weren't a headliner. TV appearances although plenty done overseas especially in the 90's I'm not counting as again this is not a full setlist or a tour performance. Take That touring; AFRICA No countries ASIA Indonesia Israel Japan Singapore Taiwan Thailand United Arab Emirates AUSTRALASIA Australia New Zealand EUROPE Austria Belgium Denmark Finland France Germany Ireland Italy Jersey Netherlands Spain Sweden Switzerland UK NORTH AMERICA No countries SOUTH AMERICA No countries The other three continents so far completely left are being visited during the World tour which is about time for their loyal fans in these places of the world. The reaction to them going to Israel and New Zealand for the first time was testament to this. Africa they are still popular in North, East and Southern Africa and South Africa would be the obvious place to go and tour as many artists already have including Backstreet Boys and Westlife numerous times. Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban in South Africa are the three main places bigger artists go to tour. Westlife also did a show after South African shows in neighbouring Namibia and the capital city Windhoek. The Progress album did well in Namibia. Africa has actually been the second most consistent audience for TT since reforming behind Europe and ahead of Asia though is often the one most overlooked. North America Canada has always been a loyal and moderate to huge (#1 BFG single) country for them and in the US they have a healthy following in Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Chicago, Boston, Las Vegas, Dallas and San Diego. See article below: http://www.radiocremebrulee.com/take-that/...-tour-in-the-us They shouldn't however just focus on the obvious three in North America the US, Canada and Mexico though these nations are the obvious start. South America there is this great research article: http://www.radiocremebrulee.com/take-that/...n-south-america The person has even done a viable SA tour breakdown and based on research how many shows. They have even located appropriate venues doing TT work for them!!! They really need to make this a World tour on all continents at least the three that have so far been neglected. Exciting times ahead with a World Greatest Hits tour!!

Biggest Selling Boybands by Year in Britain
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatIn terms of album/singles breakdown the top 10 in UK sales looks like this: Albums 1. Take That - 13.8 m 2. Westlife - 12 m 3. Boyzone - 6 m 4. One Direction - 4.2 m 5. Blue - 3.3 m 6. The Monkees - 2.9 m 7. JLS - 2.8 m 8. Bay City Rollers - 2.5 m 9. Busted - 2.4 m 10. East 17 - 1.8 m Singles 1. One Direction - 12.7 m 2. Take That - 10.6 m 3. Westlife - 7.2 m 4. Boyzone - 7.1 m 5. JLS - 4.1 m 6. Backstreet Boys - 3.3 m 7. Bay City Rollers - 3 m 8. Five - 2.4 m 9. The Wanted - 2 m 10. The Monkees - 1.9 m Overall Top 10 best selling boybands for the UK: 1. Take That - 24.4 m 2. Westlife - 19 m 3. One Direction - 14.9 m 4. Boyzone - 13.1 m 5. JLS - 6.9 m 6. Bay City Rollers - 5.5 m 7. Backstreet Boys - 4.9 m 8. The Monkees - 4.8 m 9. Blue - 4.3 m 10. Five - 4 m Also rans: East 17 - 3.6m / McFly - 3.4 m / Busted 3.4 m. Those top 4 are like they'd say in football 'the big four' truly are amazing sales to go over 10 million overall sales in the UK is unprecedented. Those big four are interchangeable in both singles/albums split showing a true overall dominance across both formats. To put it into context in the United States sales over 10 million of any album is diamond (and quite rare) so granted these are combined UK sales but still these four boybands have truly sold in amazing terms in Britain. So Take That have sold the equivalent of 2 US diamond albums (10 mill) plus one 3x Platinum (3 mill)!!! If those UK sales as they stand were actually American TT would be lauded and held as one of the most successful acts of their time. 10 mill singles and over 13 mill albums that's far more than the UK band Bush sold in America and they are considered the UK success rock act of the 90's in America. This shows how phenomenal these UK sales truly are. Had TT been able to actually replicate this UK success in America or even half of it Stateside as well they would have shot up in sales globally. Take That are the only boyband to have gone over 10 million UK sales in both albums and singles no other boyband has achieved that. For anyone wondering about Take That in pure 90's sales they were in the combined 7 million area and would have placed in 4th overall had they not come back in 2006. They have put distance between themselves and Westlife having overtaken WL sales in 2009 to go into #1. Time will tell with regard to the future Westlife and One Direction reunions: Westlife at present would need 4.5 million sales which is a lot less than where Take That were in 2006 in playing catch up and One Direction 8.8 million. One Direction have blown up single sales (the leaders) however their album sales are good but not up their with TT/WL and this is what hampers them in sales. It's unfortunate the latest TT album hasn't sold Platinum or Giants hasn't gone silver considering it's used in background music often on television so hopefully these will go in time and push a further gap whilst both those groups are inactive. In further analysis Blue and Busted were hindered by the times as despite strong album sales the period 2003 - 2005 is often regarded as the lowest selling period for singles due to the decline of physicals and the changeover to digital. This explaining why neither have made the top ten on the singles list. These two bands also used TV promo appearances to perform album tracks to a wider audience when others stick to the singles. Blue even performed an album track at The Brits which kick started that particular albums sales again. Backstreet Boys have always been promoted as a singles act in Britain from the beginning hence their high singles standing. Despite global smash albums they were never pushed in Britain and are surprising actually quite low. It's only since their decline in singles success and being on an independent label 2007 onwards that the albums are now being promoted in Britain however only to current minimal sale returns. Five and The Wanted were both single success driven with The Wanted album sales being really quite poor and minimal when compared to their single sales. They never appeared to promote their albums even in the UK and such were returned with apt sales returns. The Saturdays girlband were exactly the same truly identical to The Wanted here's an album if you want it but let's churn out the singles. If the artist isn't truly passionate about an album the fans are less likely either and casuals certainly won't be. Five actually produced good albums but were very singles focussed especially as they had to wait years before actually topping the singles chart after falling just short so many times. It would appear most of their attention went onto the single releases. Both The Monkees and Bay City Rollers had tremendous success however in a very short time space shorter than Take That, Boyzone, Westlife or One Direction. The fact they remain in the top ten lists for both shows how highly concentrated their success was. Telling for the times perhaps the fact unlike some groups they appear in both lists show fans supported all product both albums and singles. The Monkees especially chalked those sales over just 1-2 years in their UK height of popularity 1967-1968 and Bay City Rollers were also high selling during 1974-1976. They both potentially could have gone higher if they had the commercial longevity given to later boyband groups which had expanded to a now average of 6 years high commercial success. This makes sense as if you triple both those groups sales they would both be around the current top four sales.

Take That - Odyssey: The Greatest Hits
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatI know they have said they are updating the old material on the set. I don't mind the whole career hits collection however I think I'd prefer a 2006 onwards greatest hits with new songs on first. It would highlight how good both eras have been a GH vol 2 purely of 2006 onwards filled material and it could encourage more purchases of the first GH (96) or Never Forget: Ultimate Collection (05). It would be nice to recognise the reunion work which does feature all five members have it's own set meaning less track compromise. I think later on afterwards they could do a mixture of both eras on one CD Greatest Hits or a double album like Queen with two discs 90's and 00's onwards and further down the line. Maybe even a greatest hits vol 3!!! I hope like Laura130262 has said it is post 2006 with a few new tracks with Robbie however they have repeatedly said in interview it'll be an overview release of their career anniversary and with the older songs tweaked. What does everyone else think? What type of greatest hits would you like to come? I just hope they stick to their promise of touring North and South America and also some dates in Africa another continent they haven't toured for this World tour after the set comes out.

Biggest Selling Boybands by Year in Britain
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatLittle Mix selling 3.8 million last calendar year is amazing and would easily be at the top of the boyband yearly tally which is headed by Boyzone at 3.1 million sold in a year from 1999 and above Robbie's biggest year which was 1998 and 3.6 million sold and Take That's biggest in 2010 with 3 million sold. They have also gone far past One Directions biggest yearly UK tally which was 2.6 million sold during 2013. As it stands it is the third largest yearly tally for a girlband behind two blockbuster years from the Spice Girls 4.7 million in 1996 and 4.6 million in 1997. Spice Girls currently stand on 13.1 million records sold in the UK though don't sell on previous catalogue sales at all rarely adding to this huge tally. Girls Aloud are sitting on 8.5 million and are similar to Spice Girls with rare sales activity. Little Mix this year overtaking Girls Aloud to go second biggest selling girlband in UK history with 9.6 million total UK sales. 3.5 million sales behind the Spice Girls it would take a few more years of this kind of success to match up and then do the unthinkable knock the Spice Girls down into second biggest selling girlband ever in British history. I think that last year maybe feels like Little Mix peak in my opinion however on steady sales for a few more years they could possibly do it.

Take That - General Chart Topic
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatSince 2005 these are the catalogue UK Take That single sales addition with only notable sales listed: 1. Back For Good - 247,286 2. Never Forget - 104,000 3. A Million Love Songs - 42,500 4. Relight My Fire - 30,000 5. Pray - 28,000 6. Could It be Magic - 15,000 When I think about it and look back these songs are the older Take That songs favoured that are usually performed on TV shows (X Factor, Let It Shine, Strictly, Concert For Diana, Carpool Karaoke and others etc) so can explain their sales. It would be nice for them to throw in some of the other 90's singles from time to time to slowly build those sales up however I think at this point they feel it's obvious which older tracks have most exposure/recognition and so stick with those few. I think if Babe was pushed a little more on TV appearances (rare airing on Carpool Karaoke) and Love Ain't Here Anymore they'd still attract a newer audience for slight sales improvements. Those two tracks are strong ballads and could still have an audience however I understand why on rare opportunities they'd rather air the upbeat tracks plus BFG & AMLS. Note: I got A Million Love Songs slightly wrong it's currently 192,500 so now 7,500 copies away from Silver. I've edited post above.

Take That - General Chart Topic
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatTheir next three closest certifications for albums are as follows: 1.III - 579,000 - 21,000 copies away from 2 x Platinum 2.Take That & Party - 870,000 - 30,000 copies away from 3 x Platinum 3.The Platinum Collection - 60,000 - 40,000 copies away from Gold TT&P has been so close for eternity and is so frustrating! The sales for the 90's albums though stalled even during the huge second coming of the band. Greatest Hits namely the 2005 was what new fans were buying as opposed to the original albums. Maybe they could do a Phil Collins and re release them all individually as that counts towards the original album sales as long as it's not a remix of the tracks album in which case it would be a stand alone sales. They would have to promote each album like PC did and perform the hits but also good album cuts as well to sell the albums. When you look at boybands like Westlife and Boyzone routinely getting x3/x4 platinum studio albums it always seems odd TT have x2 studio albums stuck on double platinum when they were a bigger band. Next closest three singles are as follows: 1.A Million Love Songs: 192,500 - 7,500 copies away from Silver 2.Everything Changes: 367,000 - 37,000 copies away from Gold 3.Never Forget: 524,000 - 76,000 copies away from Platinum Like the albums these singles need to start representing just how big TT were!! I know Never Forget has had a big (for a catalogue track) sales since 2005 going from 420,000 to 524,000 slightly over 100,000 sales since 2005. None of the other older tracks only Back For Good have sold like that having shifted 200,000 copies since 2005 to go double Platinum.

Take That - General Chart Topic
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatToday Rule The World has been certified 2x Platinum in the UK for total minimum sales of 1.2 million copies! This means the song has finally tied with Back For Good as their biggest which has also sold 1.2 million copies in the UK. I think both songs will be quite similar in their trickle sales from now on with perhaps one just always being slightly ahead of the other.

Take That Christmas Single
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatThat's true however there are songs more recent than the 80's from the last 15 years still played on radio at Christmas time and re-chart in December such as The Darkness 'Christmas Time', Coldplay 'Christmas Lights', Leona Lewis 'One More Sleep', Kelly Clarkson 'Underneath the Tree', Michael Buble 'It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas', Justin Bieber 'Mistletoe' and Matt Terry 'When Christmas Comes Around'. I really think Gary could write a great Christmas song either for himself or the group.

Take That Christmas Single
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatWith the onslaught of Christmas songs coming from everywhere and also a broad range of years in which these songs were created my question is who thinks it would be a great move for TT to release a Christmas single? I know Babe was released for Christmas but I mean an actual season appropriate Christmas song. Songs that initially didn't do well for example Elton 'Step into Christmas' or Coldplay 'Christmas Lights' have still been played every year selling well (over years) despite not initially peaking high and even in Elton's case has re peaked this year. As a vocal harmony group it would be perfect for them if they could produce a great and timeless Christmas song and back in the 70's and 80's many songs were created purely for this purpose and have endured. It would also gain attention as less artists are doing these songs and would definitely gain airplay during it's initial season at least. Thoughts?

Greatest Hits 2018 and full World Tour 2019
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatGiants didn't appear anywhere on US iTunes top 200. For that to happen they need radio play and repeat day time slots over weeks not late night which has far less power and influence. The week of Wonderland album release from memory I think the album got to around 115 highest peak on USA itunes and in Canada highest peak was #38/40 for a day. The number fell by end of the week however as was very front loaded in those nations. It did however show there is a core fanbase there. The album didn't chart anywhere on Billboard 200/Canadian albums top 100 as in order for that to happen it would have had to have been top 40 on iTunes at least all week mixed in with high streaming and physical sales also. I believe in America it was only a digital release (which considering it was only in 2012 possibly even 2014 when their reunion albums were finally put onto the US iTunes for once an album was available for American fans like rest of the world) on iTunes and no physicals. I think for them social media is a better tool of judging where to tour especially countries they didn't do masses of promotion/touring first time around like Canada/US etc which naturally means they won't have the same chart presence as they do in Europe and Asia second time around. They are starting where they left off and in North/South America they disappeared as soon as they became a chart topping/one-two hit wonder because of this. The history isn't as long or as rich as it was in Europe, Asia, Middle East, Australia and Africa meaning more promotion/touring would be needed in N/S America to remind the audience of their existence. That said Patience was a hit in Canada and South America so they must have been remembered to an extent and also the fact a great song which could be played on the radio helped. In terms of African countries for anyone who's interested they are still popular in Botswana, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Egypt (very popular in 90's), Gambia, Mauritius, Namibia, South Africa (very popular in 90's) and Swaziland. This is mainly North, East and Southern Africa though in Western Africa they were also very popular especially during Nobody Else Back For Good era and in parts Everything Changes era but haven't really caught on that side of continent since reunion. On a separate note below is the digital impact of the tour. Tour iTunes impact (peak) Australia: Greatest Hits: #75 Wonderland: between #80 - #100 New Zealand: Wonderland: #9 Greatest Hits: #27.

Greatest Hits 2018 and full World Tour 2019
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatI agree however How Deep Is Your Love is a must for global touring as the song charted high on every continent in the World especially South America and Africa (if they go there) and remains their second biggest single after Back For Good worldwide. The song was #1 in Israel (4 weeks) along with Relight My Fire (2 weeks) and Back For Good (1 week) as well so will need to remain included for the Israel show too along with Love Ain't Here Anymore a top 10 hit. I think the setlist for the Israel show will be a greatest hits also as a first ever show there. The top 10's they had in Israel in the 90's were Could It Be Magic, Pray, Relight My Fire, Babe, Everything Changes, Love Ain't Here Anymore, Back For Good and How Deep Is Your Love. I know Patience and Rule The World were hits in Israel however am unsure of other reunion songs. They were more popular in Israel than Australia/New Zealand so as a first time ever concert that is why there is so much buzz and joy around them going there. The same with fans hearing they may be going to North/South America and Africa despite them having had less hits there. I know Patience again did well in Canada and South America though unsure about Africa. I think Shine and Rule The World were the bigger hits in Africa than Patience. In terms of global hits covering each and every continent Pray achieved this in 93/94 (Europe, Africa, Asia, Middle East and Australia) and then again in 96 when released after Back For Good and before How Deep Is Your Love for the remaining continents North/South America where it also became a hit. Back For Good, Never Forget and How Deep Is Your Love from first time around were all songs successful worldwide in North/South America and Africa as well as the usual Asia, Europe Middle East and Australia continents who had all been consistently giving chart hits to the group since the Everything Changes era at the bare minimum. REST OF CURRENT TOUR In terms of the rest of the tour the chart hits where known are as follows. The other songs added are made up from ITunes best sellers and the songs featured in the TV adverts promoting those concerts indicating the song's previous popularity in that country. For Israel, New Zealand and UAE they read like this: In brackets the chart peak. Israel (Top 30): Could It Be Magic (6), Why Can't I Wake Up With You (20), Pray (2), Relight My Fire (1), Babe (4), Everything Changes (9), Love Ain't Here Anymore (9), Sure (14), Back For Good (1), How Deep Is Your Love (1), Patience (7) and Rule The World. Never Forget was likely a hit judging by chart pattern though as of yet not found however it didn't reach #1 though. The #1 in Israel during August 1995 was 'Stars' by Dubstar. New Zealand (Top 50): Back For Good (6), How Deep Is Your Love, Patience, Shine, Rule the World, Greatest Day, The Flood, Love Love, When We Were Young and These Days. UAE: Could It Be Magic, Relight My Fire, Everything Changes, Back For Good, Never Forget, Patience, Shine, Rule The World, Greatest Day and These Days.
