Has nostlgia played a part in loving the boys new music?
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatAs an adult during the second round of Take That's being it means nostalgia or no nostalgia I wouldn't buy ANY album now unless it's been proven to be of worth over time! However on the other hand I will buy albums from a handful of acts I know in my own personal opinion I've enjoyed their work. When you're paying for it it's very different to your younger years! Take That weren't in that second bracket as I was unsure after such a long decade absence if I liked the older version's sound etc or an album. Many artists come back for a reunion album and through no fault of their own or the music either it just doesn't work commercially. Take That's new music was so strong and fresh and creative so with regards to Take That I think it was a year after release of the album and 'Rule the World' which made me finally buy their reunion album. However that said I have fallen away from other certain artists I used to love and not purchased their albums for years or even a decade (Linkin Park) so nostalgia doesn't drive commitment for me as in the current day and time if the work no longer connects with me or I don't like the direction or sounds I won't continue with the group. Unfortunately am a bit fickle like that! I'm still a fan but only of a certain period if this is the case. In terms of a divide between fans from 1st and 2nd phase liking/disliking the two phases that can only be answered by an alternate universe where TT had continued and released all their reunion records during the mid to late 90's and leading into the early 00's as opposed to splitting. I'm sure the younger fans at the time may have been put off by the maturity of the group's direction (Back For Good) and gravitated towards more teen pop in 96/97 like Hanson or Backstreet Boys instead as a guess whilst Take That branched out into adult contemporary territory. In terms of sales we'll never know if they had stayed on or if they would have declined or re-peaked in preceding years.

Fans from the beginning or from the re kindling
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatI had two older sisters who loved Take That one especially and their albums Everything Changes and Nobody Else were played in the car a lot by my Mum also. This was when I was 6-8 so '93-95 period and as a young male fan there wasn't the stigma that would have come had I been a teenager. Before being a teenager I wasn't really into music and didn't follow or love music in the way most other children appeared to who all knew the chart songs and bands etc. However the three I loved were Take That , Michael Jackson and East 17 (I actually initially liked them pre Take That and especially House of Love, Around the World and Stay Another Day! I remember my sister who was the bigger TT fan out of the two older sisters being agast when she found out (she is 1 and half years older) I liked East 17 and looking fumed bursting into my room and asking 'why do you like them we only listen to Take That in this house'?!! I loved watching Take That Live in Berlin also a lot when I was younger and I thought Robbie was funny but Howard and Jason were my favourites because of the break dancing! My musical likes changed a lot when I was a teenager and I adore bands like Nirvana, My Chemical Romance, Fightstar, 30 Seconds to Mars, The Calling, Nickelback and Linkin Park now and still. However I still love Take That and their new music which is just great decent pop , sounds and lyrics. Pop wise they are definitely aside from Michael Jackson also the only pop act I've had multiple songs of on my iPod. Most pop acts I only have a few tracks each from them. I think for me nostalgia does play a part for the early material as I was young and like I say very naive to music compared to other kids at that time. You don't really let go of the big bands of that phase of childhood I don't think as normally it represents a simpler care free time. The early material some of it is still great and miles better than any other boyband group. The later material stands up in its own I feel as just perfect pop. The songs I liked when I was younger the most were Pray,Back For Good,Never Forget,The Day After Tomorrow, Love Ain't Here Anymore, Another Crack in my Heart.

Take That - Wonderland - 24 March, 2017
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatIt's a shame the album didn't chart as of yet in Taiwan and Demark as both these countries have given big success to Take That since they reformed. However regardless of this the album has charted at #3 in the overall World Charts behind 1.Ed Sheeran and 2.Drake. This is also an improvement on III which charted at #8 on the World Album Chart first week on release.

Take That - Wonderland - 24 March, 2017
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatIt hasn't charted in Billboard 200 in America but that was always going to be a tall order. Interestingly James Blunt album has debuted at #177 in America which is a lot lower than I would have expected for him. It hasn't gone top 200 in France either. It didn't chart in top 100 Canadian albums either unfortunately.

Take That & Westlife
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatI agree at first I thought a 25 year retrospect would be great however like you say the Never Forget compilation that has enough songs to stand on it's own so focuss on their comeback and make that a Vol 2 perhaps. Are the albums just all being rereleased or is it a greatest hits? Personally I think now is a great time to reintroduce people to the great singles they've put out and hope it is GH Vol 2. Something is definitely happening with BMG as Gary said they talking to old record label if so I hope that we get GH Vol2 06-present and BMG re release the 90's albums and ush their certs up a bit however they released them in 06 so we'll have to see what happens.

Take That - Wonderland - 24 March, 2017
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatYes me too they'll come out tomorrow and published Wednesday. I think it was only a digital release however so that may hamper them a little in the States as again part of their audience likes physical albums. I don't think it would be top 100 if it charts more likely 160 - 200 for 'smaller loyal fan' acts generally. It'll be great if it charts in Canada also as they did have moderate success singles and albums in Canada during the 90's and one top 40 single in Patience in 2007 Canada. Touch wood the album has done well in Denmark also as that is a major TT market however the chart providers are being a bit slow aside from the nations who have already updated their charts considering most are all synced on a Friday now but we'll wait and see.

nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatHi there the album hasn't charted in the Norwegian top 40 or the top 60 in Sweden on opening week. For both these nations TT reunion albums stand as: Norway Beautiful World: #34 The Circus: #38 Progress: #25 Sweden Beautiful World: #40 The Circus: #25 Progress: #7 Both these neighbouring Scandinavian countries haven't charted III or Wonderland (as yet) within published national charts.

Take That & Westlife
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatI agree there is definitely an endearing quality about Boyzone I think because they struggled to find their feet like Take That did initially. Perhaps also because they came out when there were only a handful of boybands and not over saturated it makes them more pure and honest. I did like Westlife 99-02 before all the covers but there is something quite cynical about boybands like that especially ones who come from the same manager and are carbon copies. These groups had the same manager and are also quite similar. Backstreet Boys > NSYNC Boyzone > Westlife Busted > McFly. Just following on from my post above the 6 - 10 positions current minimum sales (Albums & Singles) based on BPI/OCC data in Britain are: 6.Backstreet Boys: 4.6 million 7.Blue: 4.3 million 8.Five: 4 million 9.East 17: 3.6 million 10.McFly: 3.2 million Take That were 7.5 million when they finished after Greatest Hits and How Deep is Your Love in 1996 which had they not had the 2005 reunion would have placed them fourth overall. This means they've sold a staggering 15.6 million records in Britain since 2005 however that figure alone and without the 7.5 mill added from 90's to bring 23.1 million would have seen them trailing Westlife. This shows how much of a consistent force Westlife truly were in Britain during their time with an album routinely out every single year and for most part multiple singes with them. Just a few comments on the table above. If Backstreet Boys shifted a lot more albums in Britain they could have gone a bit higher but they have had x3 albums only reach Gold status which drags their total down from what it could be. They are strong singles or rather consistent sellers however. Blue were dragged down by their singles sales as they really were poor 01-04 which were Blues years however they counter acted that with strong album sales. McFly really don't sell hardly at all either singles/albums aside from their debut album. HOWEVER their longevity and persistence over the years (13 years) has seen them gradually creep up and over flash in pan groups. Out of the top ten groups who doesn't (if ever) get certified these days are Boyzone,JLS,Blue,Five,East 17. McFly creep Gold album sales these days but no higher however over last two years 3 of their back catalogue singles have been certified. I'm guessing the McBusted hype helped them with this as their sales had been frozen in time for many years. BSB don't get albums going Silver let alone Gold or higher in Britain these days. They do from time to time have their singles back catalogue go up in certs which pushes their sales up. Doing the last 2 years (2015) these are how many certifications each band has had showing if they are still selling today. It's safe to say we'll leave Take That and One D off as have had multiple certs over past two years: Westlife: 2 certs (1 album/1 single) Boyzone: 1 cert (1 album) JLS: 1 cert (1 album) BSB: 2 cert (2 singles) Blue: None Five: 1 cert (1 single) East 17: None McFly: 4 certs (1 album/3 singles)

Take That & Westlife
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatGreatest Hits have died out in general. However I think they are great and they are also a great way for curious fans to get and then go deeper into albums from that. However a group like Take That actually have numerous singles to do an updated greatest hits album or even variation greatest hits albums. #1's, best of , Vol 2 etc etc I agree that seems like the most ideal plan for One Direction in the future.

Take That & Westlife
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatCurrent minimum sales (Albums & Singles) based on BPI/OCC data for top 5 boybands ever in Britain: 1.Take That: 23.1 million 2.Westlife: 18.8 million 3.One Direction: 14.9 million 4.Boyzone: 13.1 million 5.JLS: 6.5 million I used to think even during TT huge 2 mill album plus eras that Westlife could still catch them when a reunion for them comes around as they wouldn't have needed to sell like they used to. It's debatable that any act of that age would/will now however who knows. 4.3 million records difference between them now but I think TT back catalogue will keep slowly selling more than Westlife as Westlife have had few new certs since they split in 2011. I don't see it happening I think TT will go up and up but at a much slower pace to what they used to. Those four boybands to have gone over 10 million records in Britain are head and shoulders above the rest and it's a testament to One Direction that they pulled themselves into that bracket.

Take That - Wonderland - 24 March, 2017
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatYeah I agree top 40 is a good fanbase for an older act so the nations where all post reunion albums have gone top 40 are UK, Ireland, Germany, Denmark, Italy and Taiwan normally top 10 so disappointed it's initially missed top 20 there.

Take That - Wonderland - 24 March, 2017
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatThe first charts are in and I'll contrast them against the III peaks for the nations. Firstly unfortunately for it's first week the album hasn't made the top 20 in Taiwan which is the first time this has happened since the reunion however there is obviously time for it to appear. Australia : III (DNC) / Wonderland #28 (Highest peaking album since reunion!) Austria: III (DNC) / Wonderland #47 Belgian (Flanders) : III #84 / Wonderland #43 (peak gain 41 places up) Belgian (Wallonia) : III #118 / Wonderland #75 (peak gain 43 places up) Denmark : III #23 / Wonderland (DNC top 40) Germany : III #26 / Wonderland #19 (peak gain 7 places up) Greece : III #53 / Wonderland #57 (peak drop 4 places down) Ireland : III #6 / Wonderland #3 (peak gain 3 places up) Italy : III #39 / Wonderland #36 (peak gain 3 places up) Japan : III #182 / Wonderland #168 (peak gain 14 places up) Netherlands : III #64 / Wonderland #48 (peak gain 16 places up) Scotland : III #2 / Wonderland #2 (peak equal) Spain : III #54 / Wonderland #18 (peak gain 36 places up) South Korea : III #18 / Wonderland (DNC top 100) Switzerland : III #59 / Wonderland #28 (peak gain 31 places up) Taiwan : III #6 / Wonderland (DNC top 20) UK : III #1 / Wonderland #2 (peak drop 1 place down) My own thoughts on the album is I much prefer it to III. I also think the fact they are touring the world and doing promo outside Europe is also helping and long overdue. We know that they are going to Australia, New Zealand and Argentina. However having looked on social media there are some common nations that come through with quite strong TT fanbases. Looking at the carpool comments and nationalities as well as other social media I'd say they are long due in Canada, Brazil, South Africa and Chile (maybe do a gig when they go to Argentina) based on the multiple responses. It's nice obviously that they still chart in Japan but they really have fallen away there compared to other nations even Progress came in at #145 there. Beautiful World went to #40 in Japan but that is because they went and did promo in Taiwan/Japan in early 2007. In Taiwan BW went to #1 off back of this promo for two weeks however NF - Ultimate Collection went to #9 a year earlier when released in 2005 so they didn't have to make up as much groundwork as they did for Japan. I really hope over coming weeks the album goes top 20 in Taiwan as would be a shame to break chart run since reunion. NF (#9), BW (#1), TC (#16), Progress (#6), III (#6).

OCC: Take That's Top 40 Best Selling Singles
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatThis is great however I really want to see updated TT UK album sales especially for the first era albums! The OCC appear a bit resistant when it comes to albums and sales as they do singles info but rarely albums.

Where will Giants chart?
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatI also think it's great they're travelling the world now and playing to the fans like Jay said who aren't just in Europe. They aren't expecting to sell out huge arenas however they do have 25 years of music behind them which means over time they have picked up fans around the world. They have also had chart success in every continent in the world regardless of how brief country to country etc. 80's acts tour the world on one hit but at least TT have years of music. It's just not as concentrated as the first time around when the promo was all synced internationally for chart success. It also shows that they care for their fans who have waited so long and now they are going out to them. Now they have done Asia and are about to do Australia/New Zealand, I think it would be great to go to South America, South Africa and also Canada for their fans and then they would have allowed all their fans from the years the opportunity to see them in each part of the World. Huey Lewis did three shows in New Zealand this time last year (their first ever in New Zealand) and their greatest hits stormed into #8 on the New Zealand album charts the following week. If TT can get word of mouth going especially in such a small country and a fantastic performance who knows if they can make an impact. Lots of artists tour Australia and seem to miss New Zealand out as maybe it's not a huge music market like Australia.

Take That - General Chart Topic
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatOn the 15th July last year The Official Charts company stated it was on 2,360,000 copies so it would only need 40,000 to move up to 8 x Platinum which would be amazing! Other album thresholds: Take That & Party - 870,000 (January 2016) - 30,000 copies away from 3 x Platinum Everything Changes - 1,300,000 (January 2016) - 200,000 copies away from 5 x Platinum Nobody Else - 680,000 (January 2016) - 220,000 copies away from 3 x Platinum Greatest Hits - 1,100,000 (April 2011) - 100,000 copies away from 4 x Platinum The Platinum Collection - 60,000 (January 2015) - 40,000 copies away from Gold Beautiful World - 2,850,000 (July 2016) - 150,000 copies away from 10 x Platinum! The Circus - 2,200,000 (January 2016) - 200,000 copies away from 8 x Platinum The Greatest Day - Take That Presents The Circus Live - 514,000 (December 2011) - 86,000 copies away from 2 x Platinum Progress - 2,400,000 (January 2016) - 300,000 copies away from 9 x Platinum Progress Live - 100,000 (July 2013) - 200,000 copies away from Platinum III - 579,000 (January 2016) - 21,000 copies away from 2 x Platinum The albums that are less than 100,000 away could definitely go over into another sales threshold if given a little push so that's Take That & Party (remained on those sales for an eternity!!), The Platinum Collection, Circus Live (though unsure live albums are steady sellers over time) and III which will go double platinum possibly when the new album comes out.

Where will Giants chart?
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatThat's good midweeks however they are always front heavy and then free fall so unless they steady or release the music video/perform on a show they will fall. The frustrating thing is if they promoted now they could go higher.

Take That - Wonderland - 24 March, 2017
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatThe thing is they may not care about the singles chart anymore however a good strong successful lead off single (top 10) then translates into better album sales. That is something they do care about. I know this sounds ridiculous but it also makes their singles discography look really bad not charting in UK/the other places featured on it, it looks like a major drop off has happened. They may be waiting for mid week to drop the video but am not sure how much of a boost it'll be however I know certain music channels really like TT and will play the music video on rotation. To give Westlife credit their last two studio albums in 2009/2010 they released ONE single only before the album came out and these singles charted at #2 and #10 with heavy promotion. If Giants is the only single released off the album really go for it. Is a few weeks of promotion for the single which would ultimately benefit the album really that hard? Or do they feel their past and status now rises them above promotion on differing TV shows? I agree with above post as a 40+ act it really is hard on the singles chart. I'm more confused/annoyed with this confusing anniversary which is getting changed from here to there and back again. It would be great for a greatest hits vol 2/25th year best of to come out as would be such a great record to have. This again seems to be all dependant on Robbie if I were to quess as he mentioned he couldn't do it this year as he has a tour to do.

Where will Giants chart?
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatI think it's disheartening that they are allowing the single to free fall. I think they know that their audience still like singles and music videos etc so still do them to keep the fans happy. Maybe this first week isn't the big push for the single and the next coming weeks are instead? In the past first weeks were essential in the singes chart but now outside the big names who go straight in at #1 most other artists climb I believe. In terms of singles TT are one of those artists as is Robbie. Love My Life started at #57 went up and down until it's 9th week in top 100 eventually peaking at #22. Am unsure why that was but maybe the same will happen for TT? The song will most likely go top 10 in Scotland as since their reunion in Scotland these have been their top 10 singles: Scotland Patience: #1 (4 weeks) Shine: #1 (1 week) I'd Wait For Life: #6 Rule The World: #2 Greatest Day: #2 Up All Night: #2 Said It All: #1 (1 week) The Flood: #2 These Days: #1 (1 week) Cry: #6.

Take That - Wonderland - 24 March, 2017
nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatI think they are in a tricky situation as they can't over promote Take That as that would be seen as exploiting the show for personal gains. The TT medley and them singing Shine was pretty much all of the TT they could have done tonight otherwise there would have been an even bigger backlash than there already is. I love the show and TT music but I can also see where others are coming from the fact hey have been given weeks of prime time TV exposure to publicise this show and also TT music. They have to balance how much they do and have it weighted proportionally hence why the acts aren't singing TT songs for the most part.

nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatI thought WCIWUWY was the lead as the slower version was an album track but not released in that form as a single. However the remix version was from the Everything Changes album making it a different song in terms of style and length. Could It Be Magic was the 7th and last single released from the first, however again in a single remix form. WCIWUWY is classed as the first from Everything Changes as Take That still hold the record for most top 10 singles by a group from one album in UK - 1.WCIWUWY 2.Pray 3.Relight My Fire 4.Babe 5.Everything Changes 6.Love Ain't Here Anymore.

nirvanamusic posted a post in a topic in Robbie Williams and Take That's Robbie Williams and Take ThatThe track is really instant positive and catchy and easy on the ear. It does sound like a hit to me but they won't have one without a big push as they are no longer in the Justin Bieber phase of their career. In terms of lead singles from studio albums I'd rank them: 1.The Flood 2.Patience 3.GIANTS (has potential to go higher up for me) 4.Sure 5.These Days 6.Greatest Day 7.Why Can't I Wake Up With You? 8.Do What U Like
