  1. A very fascinating article to show where TT are in the World. A lot of time and effort placed in gathering all this information. I wondered why Nobody Else didn't sell like the others, despite BFG being on it. https://chartmasters.org/2019/12/take-that-...nd-songs-sales/ Their top 10 album markets and sales: Take That 1.UK - 17,080,000 2.Germany - 3,203,000 3.Italy - 908,000 4.Japan - 778,500 5.USA - 425,000 6.Netherlands - 400,000 7.Spain - 367,000 8.Ireland - 352,500 9.Switzerland - 288,000 10.France - 248,000 Robbie 1.UK - 21,615,000 2.Germany - 10,415,000 3.France - 2,700,000 4.Australia - 2,665,000 5.Italy - 2,425,000 6.Netherlands - 2,180,000 7.Switzerland - 1,287,500 8.Mexico - 1,245,000 9.USA - 1,097,500 10.Austria - 1,080,000 The only major market nation Take That have outsold Rob is Japan, 778,500 albums sold to 326,500. However, this was down to huge selling 'Nobody Else' #6 and 'Greatest Hits' (96) #12 peaks there, both of which featured his involvement. Top 10 based on current global streaming platforms data. Take That 1.Back For Good 2.Patience 3.These Days 4.Rule The World 5.The Flood 6.Shine 7.Greatest Day 8.Relight My Fire 9.Never Forget 10.How Deep Is Your Love Robbie 1.Angels 2.Feel 3.Rock DJ 4.She's The One 5.Candy 6.Let Me Entertain You 7.Better Man 8.Love My Life 9.Somethin' Stupid 10.Supreme Enjoy. Comparing to other boybands he has done, album sales. For Latin America, I took out Mexico sales and placed them in North America. Africa sales weren't listed and Westlife haven't been calculated as yet. Take That: Europe: 25,690,000 Asia: 2,649,000 North America: 683,500 South America: 275,000 Oceania: 203,500 NSYNC: North America: 35,045,000 Europe: 1,575,000 Asia: 1,150,000 South America: 210,000 Oceania: 155,000 BTS: Asia: 14,340,000 North America: 1,963,000 Europe: 1,002,500 South America: 342,500 Oceania: 46,500 One Direction North America: 10,040,000 Europe: 7,840,000 Asia: 2,440,000 South America: 1,380,000 Oceania: 1,175,000 Backstreet Boys North America: 31,739,000 Europe: 15,840,000 Asia: 4,850,000 South America: 2,930,000 Oceania: 1,227,500 and Robbie album sales .. Europe: 51,655,000 Oceania: 3,277,500 North America: 2,733,000 Asia: 1,740,000 South America: 1,174,000 The fact Backstreet Boys, One Direction and Robbie have sold over one million albums on all continents (Africa not calculated) truly is a huge achievement. I've added The Beatles, even though I don't view them as a boyband, purely for how insane their album sales are! By Continent - Album Sales Asia: The Beatles - 33,180,000 BTS - 14,340,000 Backstreet Boys - 4,850,000 Jackson 5 - 3,100,000 Take That - 2,649,000 One Direction - 2,440,000 Robbie Williams - 1,740,000 NSYNC - 1,150,000 Europe: The Beatles - 86,230,000 Robbie Williams - 51,655,000 Take That - 25,690,000 Backstreet Boys - 15,840,000 Jackson 5 - 8,660,000 One Direction - 7,840,000 NSYNC - 1,575,000 BTS - 1,002,500 North America: The Beatles - 183,400,000 NSYNC - 35,045,000 Backstreet Boys - 31,739,000 Jackson 5 - 24,705,000 One Direction - 10,040,000 Robbie Williams - 2,733,000 BTS - 1,963,000 Take That - 683,500 Oceania: The Beatles - 6,580,000 Robbie Williams - 3,277,500 Jackson 5 - 1,300,000 Backstreet Boys - 1,227,500 One Direction - 1,175,000 Take That - 203,500 NSYNC - 155,000 BTS - 46,500 South America: The Beatles - 10,840,000 Backstreet Boys - 2,930,000 One Direction - 1,380,000 Robbie Williams - 1,174,000 BTS - 342,500 Take That - 275,000 NSYNC - 210,000 Jackson 5: No sales given.
  2. People may have forgotten, however when Boyzone arrived in Britain, they went head to head with the biggest acts. This was deliberate for their first five UK singles by the group. The reasoning was Louis Walsh wanted a big, bold, tabloid worthy, take down of a giant act, to fuel huge publicity for Boyzone and a changing of the guards, so to speak. Take That being his main target, though East 17 and Michael Jackson were also pitted against. Hoping to knock the act off the top spot. I'm so thankful Take That had a strong fanbase which didn't allow that to happen! The headlines, as Walsh predicted would have been HUGE. Interestingly he famously did reverse with Westlife, picking 'quiet weeks' with no competition and easy routes to the top. Single #1. 1st January 1995 #1. Stay Another Day - East 17 #2. Love Me For A Reason - Boyzone Single #2. 23rd April 1995 #1. Back For Good - Take That #3. Key To My Life - Boyzone Single #3. 6th August 1995 #1 Never Forget - Take That #3 So Good - Boyzone Single #4. 23rd December 1995 #1 Earth Song - Michael Jackson #2 Father And Son - Boyzone Single #5. 3rd March 1996 #1 How Deep Is Your Love - Take That #4 Coming Home Now - Boyzone By the end of 1996 and Take That's initial split, they had double the overall British sales of Boyzone. (8.4 million to 4.2 million)

  4. Best: I'm in minority it would seem but for me it's Nobody Else. The song writing, group vocals and songs were at their strongest and this showed in fact album embodies Take That's global peak success EVER. There are continents, namely North and South America were this was their only successful studio album, that was for a reason. Their image was at strongest/sleekest and album packed with some very under-rated songs. They broke America top 10 as a four in late 1995 with Back For Good, though I could see 'The Day After Tomorrow' becoming another global hit and top 40 US follow up. Moody and very of it's time and US radio friendly. A follow up video shot in NYC to capitalise on recent US success, however we know what came next instead. I'm sure I read TDAT was due to be next single had they stayed together. Worst: Take That & Party: It's personality, charm and potential future greatness (A Million love Songs) are it's strengths. However, production, cheesy songs and lyrics for majority of album let it down and vocals weren't as great/strong as from second album onwards.
  5. Songs by Take That which were hits across Europe are: Could It Be Magic, Pray, Relight My Fire, Babe, Everything Changes, Love Ain't Here Anymore, Sure, Back For Good, Never Forget, How Deep Is Your Love, Patience, Shine, Rule The World, The Flood. That's 14 European hits, all of which should be performed, then make numbers up with the rest. Regardless of how we feel about a song across Europe TT are remembered for a string of hits starting 1994 - 1996 and then again Beautiful World era 2006 - 2007. Basically picking up where they left off. Bookends either side being breakout Euro hit 'Could It Be Magic' and reunion lead 'The Flood'. The ratio of European hits being 10:4 - 90's:00's onwards. In the UK they have had 19 Top 10 singles and a whole load of other top 40 singles, so they can pick and choose setlist. Europe it's different.
  6. They performed Odyssey in UK and Ireland as the album did well in both these countries. The original versions make sense in Europe. How confusing it would be had they done reworked versions. The European Greatest Hits Live setlist is 20. Australia/New Zealand/Israel Wonderland Tour (2017) 22. European Take That Live (2015) 21. European Progress Tour (2011) 17. (taking RW solo off) European Beautiful World Tour (2007) 17. Nobody Else World Tour (1995) 20. European Pops Tour (1995) 16. European Everything Changes Tour (1994) 14. As you would expect with more albums the setlist has picked up overseas. It now is on the 20 song mark.
  7. As they embark on the European dates, hopefully the album will re-peak or chart in some of these nations. I'm still disappointed they promised their fans in North and South America tour dates only to ONCE AGAIN not materialize. Months spent asking nations to request and they would take it into account. At least they are still going into Europe. They are after all the highest selling boy band of all time in Europe. Regardless of the huge UK sales, we are still European and they are millions ahead of any other boyband group European sales because of this.
  8. Everything Changes being scored higher than Pray and Never Forget. The interesting thing is Sure is higher ranked by general public than by the fanbase, it would appear. Brief instrumental of song is regularly featured in Derry Girls, namely the dramatic change after piano intro and into first chorus. All four comeback chart toppers ranking so highly, especially These Days, always assumed this was fan #1 due to sole week at top and supported as first by them as a three piece. Westlife their four highest are all original songs and their best. Interesting to see how Rule The World would have scored, as we know it was #2 behind Bleeding Love by Leona Lewis for weeks. That song was scored 6.92 overall and would rank second in TT,WL,GB,RW,BM list above behind Patience.
  9. Yes. Done over months, three years given at a time between 1952 and 2018, scored for a week and then averages complied after voting closed.
  10. Digital Spy Number Ones Vote: Average Out of 10. Voted on by a range of music fan and age. 11. Cry has gone Silver few weeks back and late last year These Days went Platinum. Cry was defiantly kept in the setlist for years after release keeping it's exposure up. This is what they would need to do to defy chart positions and sales/streams that come from obvious exposure relating to chart positions. These are the singles yet to reach Silver (minimum certification) for Take That now: Possibles and unlikely in my opinion. Possible Do What U Like (possible due to infamy and continued referencing - even if for comedy purpose) It Only Takes a Minute (likely through trickle sales and rare plays still - all top 10 singles should have met this minimum criteria) Up All Night (possible though it's hype has worn off a little these days) Said It All (as above and all their top 10's should really go at least Silver) Hold Up a Light (hard to judge this one in terms of continued sales/streams as no chart success like two above - would need to go outside just fanbase) Love Love (has the chart position but not so much exposure these days) Giants (Still gets some exposure as backing music on tv but would need a push) Unlikely Promises Once You've Tasted Love I Found Heaven I'd Wait For Life Kidz When We Were Young Let In The Sun Hey Boy New Day Pray (OV) Out Of Our Heads To answer above question Take That UK Single Platinum Certifications: To show length of time taken I've gone first to last based on date achieved not order of release. Babe Back For Good How Deep Is Your Love Patience Rule The World (2x) The Flood Greatest Day Shine Never Forget These Days 10 Platinum singles in total - 4 90's, 4 00's and 2 10's. Currently sitting at Gold level. Pray 1 90's. Currently sitting at Silver level. Could It Be Magic Why Can't I Wake Up With You Relight My Fire Everything Changes Love Ain't Here Anymore Sure A Million Love Songs Cry 7 90's, 1 10's. 19 singles overall certified in UK: 12 90's, (4.2 mil) 4 00's, (3 mil) 3 10's. (1.4 mil) As we know it was in album sales they really took off the second time around from a few big selling singles. the 19 Single certs and album represented. Combined single sales from certified singles in brackets. 6 Everything Changes (1.8 mil) 3 Beautiful World (2.4 mil) 3 Nobody Else (1.4 mil) 2 Take That & Party (400k) 1 The Circus (600k) 1 Greatest Hits (600k) 1 Progress (600k) 1 III (600k) 1 Wonderland (200k)
  12. Cry yesterday was certified Silver for sales/streams totaling 200,000 copies despite peaking outside the top 20! It means their most recent minimum certified single release is from 2016 which isn't too long ago. Giants could possibly go Silver in time, having peaked higher than Cry. However, Cry had 8 weeks and Giants 3 weeks in UK top 100.
  13. Unfortunately I've just deleted off my iPod quite a few Odyssey tracks, a new intro or updating the sound isn't enough for me. I kept Everlasting out of the three new songs and 6 reworked versions which offer different takes.
  14. So we now know the first week of the Westlife reunion. Their comeback single has reached #2 in Ireland and #13 in the UK.
  15. With regard to Westlife I think it'll be the same as Giants, like Take That it has had a strong opening few days however now is slipping. It'll be #1 in Ireland though as on all platforms it's charting highly. In terms of the UK, Spotify #113, Apple Music #92, ITunes # 5 and You Tube #19. I put the four in order of most weighted towards the charts. My guess between 10 and 20 debut in UK.
  16. *note for any future potential later readers I'll be using this post to keep up to date on certs, figures will change* With the promo and new reunion Westlife single coming next week on the 11th. Let's see where both groups stand. Based on Official Charts Company UK sales as it stands at the moment: TT: 14.4 mil albums / 13.2 mil singles = 27.6 million Westlife: 12.2 mil albums / 10.4 mil singles = 22.6 million 4 million in total more records sold by TT. However TT were a huge 7.5 million records behind Westlife when they got back together in 2005, so you never know. The climate is so different now that I read someone say that Platinum today for albums would have been the equivalent of 1 million copies sold 10 years ago. The gap will be closed through older songs moving up and new releases, however I'm not so sure. Take That selling 7.5 million records and a further 4 million to go clear is just insane.
  17. Two new singles sales certs, These Days has gone Platinum (600,000) and A Million Love Songs FINALLY Silver! (200,000)
  18. UK End Of Year Albums: Odyssey: #11 (18). Sadly just misses a top 10 placing. Other albums (highest year placing only) Top 10 album in bold Take That & Party: #19 (93) Everything Changes: #3 (93) Nobody Else: #16 (95) Greatest Hits: #8 (96) Never Forget: The Ultimate Collection: #19 (05) Beautiful World: #2 (06) The Circus: #2 (08) The Greatest Day - Take That Present The Circus Live: #27 (09) Progress: #1 (10) Progress Live: #65 (11) III: #10 (14) Wonderland: #13 (17) Odyssey: #11 (18) Two albums each decade ending with a top 10 placing for 90's, 00's and 10's.
  19. I agree about the impact of Jason leaving. He may have been quiet on records but from what I could see he was --Robbie and Gary aside-- the next most popular member since they reformed. Though even in the 90's he was majorly underrated on a musical level --vocals aside-- as he was second to Gary, supporting his songs playing guitar and contributing to the musical side of things in that way. I think Jason represented 'the good guy' and humble aspects more naturally than the others and this gained him droves of fans. He is very intelligent, including emotionally intelligent which made him relatable with everyday members of the public. The other four are nice though in my opinion you could tell Jason was truly sincere. Of course he is also the only member not involved in any tax issue and possibly took moral issue on this. I once read he still banks with his local co-op. Possibly seeing the others as having lost touch and perspective and that the true commercial aspect of the band was done after Robbie returned, the natural conclusion. He stayed for Progress. He's not daft and has always carefully thought about things more thoroughly than the others, aside from perhaps Gary.
  20. Country By Country Sales Only Comparing Nations where full access to sales for both are available. In bold is a 2017 top 10 music market. Argentina: Take That Australia: Westlife Austria: Take That Belgium: Take That Brazil: Westlife Canada: Take That Czech Republic: Take That Denmark: Take That Finland: Take That France: Take That Germany: Take That Greece: Take That Hong Kong: Westlife Hungary: Take That Iceland: Take That Indonesia: Westlife Ireland: Westlife Israel: Take That Italy: Take That Japan: Take That Korea: Westlife Latvia: Take That Lithuania: Take That Malaysia: Westlife Mexico: Westlife Netherlands: Take That New Zealand: Westlife Norway: Westlife Philippines: Westlife Poland: Take That Portugal: Take That Russia: Take That Slovakia: Take That Spain: Take That Sweden: Westlife Switzerland: Take That Taiwan: Take That Turkey: Take That UK: Take That USA: Take That
  21. Switzerland#45, Austria#55 and Australia#63. I'm disappointed in all of the positions that are non top 40. The fact the album hasn't charted AT ALL in all those nations where previous reunion albums did --even if lowly-- is quite something. If you took these positions as a basis for touring then the tour reads like this: UK, Ireland, Taiwan and Germany. Debut week (normally highest) a loss of 10 previously charted nations is huge and can't be underestimated. Not even down at the bottom of the charts. If they cared about the European tour then they should get promo going across Europe and Asia. They don't physically have to be there, though after opening week it's clear either people didn't know the album was out .. or people simply no longer care. Take That being a UK exclusive act has been mentioned ever since they went down to a three. Though this has only happened truthfully with this album, the fact they charted all across Europe previously --regardless position-- showed they had an audience. Now it's clear they don't and so the 'UK only' tag is now befitting.
  22. Official Chart Positions Updated when information becomes available. Scotland#1. UK#1. Ireland#3. Taiwan#9. Germany#18. Belgium (Flanders)#42. Switzerland#45. Spain#54. Austria#55. Australia#63. Italy#80. Netherlands#85. Belgium (Wallonia)#102. Japan#248. Has failed to chart in Denmark, Finland, Croatia, France, Norway, South Korea, Czech Republic, Sweden or Greece opening week at present ... Only listing missed countries reunion albums have previously charted in.
