It feels like Hall & Oates were bigger UK radio acts than sales in the 80s, Kiss On My List and Private Eyes were both very well known songs at the time but both missed the top 30 You Make My Dreams Come True though was not one of their big UK airplay tracks, I don’t think I’d ever heard of it until it was used on an ad (McDonalds?) in the 2010s and then US-based playlists got it more repeat plays

Bob Marley is a great shout for a major, very well known act without a number 1 Surprised at Red Hot Chili Peppers being high on that Spotify list I couldn’t find a list of most top 40 hits without a number one but yes I think the Glee Cast top the list of most top 75 hits without a number one Re Janet Jackson I always find it strange that the Rhythm Nation album didn’t launch her into undoubted top level superstar status here (four US number ones from that album but none made the UK top ten, despite her having big top 5 just just before the RN1814 era (Let’s Wait a While) and immediately after (Best Things In Life Are Free)

I’ve been really pleasantly surprised listening to this this morning. I didn’t really like Days We Left Behind and feared this album might be a maudlin affair with his vocal strength fading a bit, but it’s nothing like that! Come Inside could be a 90s Britpop hit, As You Lie There has great vocals and a nice hook, and I love the slightly higher register he sings parts of Never Know in, which makes me imagine it as a Lennon McCartney duet

As usual, the host country has the most interest in streaming Eurovision tracks, with Eurovision acts taking up 15 of the Austrian Spotify top 30 places (Dara #1, Look Mum No Computer #29)

So happy about Go- when it was starting to pick up streams and downloads about this time last week I wondered if it had an outside chance of finally making the top 40, now I’m thinking it has some momentum to go top 10?

V surprised at such an early exit for Yes- I saw it was getting plenty of high marks (including from me) but hadn’t noticed the multiple low rankings as well

Yes forgot about that one, Feel I agree would sound a bit of a mess as a stand-alone audio track

The film is excellent, but the soundtrack as an audio-only product doesn’t really work I think- for example the end of She’s The One in the film has an extended instrumental/orchestral score part which shows a key event, but without the visuals it sounds like the song just drifts off into a too-long fade-out. Still, I’m happy that Robbie gets another number one. His last two albums were the re-recorded greatest hits XXV and his Christmas album, I’m looking forward to some proper new stuff from him
