It would be great to see Human Nature chart.

Why have Westlife released two different versions of "The Ultimate Collection"?! It feels absurd to give it that title, but then have 2 separate releases.

Sales W/E 14/05/2026
I'm quite sure Number Ones had more sales that week, as it was released for the first time on Vinyl. I also don't really buy the whole "the record company are constantly switching" idea. I think it's a case of Number Ones charting higher than Essential as it had Vinyl sales, then the Michael Soundtrack charting higher because it was a new release, with 4000+ physicals.

Friday Chart Predictions
Oh, well those sales make more sense! I guess the number 1 is unlikely, then, but 2 was MJ's peak after his death, so it's crazy to see him so close to being that high again. I imagine that, if The Essential reaches number 1, it would be the first album to posthumously go to number 1 twice?

Friday Chart Predictions
Would Billie Jean be top if it wasn't on ACR? Is there a chance it could be moved back to the standard chart ratio, like Kate Bush was with Runnin' Up That Hill? We haven't had a solo posthumous number 1 single since Elvis in 2005.

I listened to it in full yesterday - not a bad song on it, and it still sounds as fresh and exciting as ever.

It's utterly baffling that we have got to a point where talented artists have to pay money to Spotify, just to prove they actually exist.

They released a new "official video" for 'Human Nature', but I doubt that will be enough to grant it a reset. It would be great to see it in the charts.

Friday Chart Predictions
There was a vinyl edition of Number Ones released earlier this year - the reason that all 3 compilations are charting is probably down to physical sales? But it's bit of mess. It reminds me of when MJ died: The Essential, Number Ones, and King of Pop were all in the top 5! In terms of singles, Billie Jean is at 43, Beat It at 67, and at 76 is Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough! I didn't see that one charting ahead of the likes of Thriller or Human Nature, but it's good to see it in there. Though I don't understand how Bad is in the album charts, but not Off the Wall, considering the film only has one song from Bad in it!

Friday Chart Predictions
Michael: The Soundtrack is on vinyl, cassette and CD, so it will be interesting to see how many physicals it shifts. The lack of any new recordings on it make it very much a product for collectors, mind. We could see both the soundtrack and The Essential Michael Jackson in the top 10.

Studio albums with all songs certified
It was released as a promotional single, and it was one of the music videos that make up the Moonwalker film. So while not an official single in the traditional sense, it did have a music video and was part of a film.

Studio albums with all songs certified
'Just Good Friends' was the only song from Bad to not be released as a single. It's a duet with Stevie Wonder. I'm surprised ‘Another Part Of Me’ isn't silver, too, as it was a single that charted at #15. I imagine it can't be too far away.

Studio albums with all songs certified
I know that 7 of the 9 songs from Michael Jackson's Thriller were released as singles worldwide, and all of those are certified in the UK. The only two that aren't are The Lady in My Life and Baby Be Mine. It's all the more impressive considering how many copies the album sold.

I wonder if Chris Rea's "The Christmas Album" might chart. Would be fitting, as it was his final release in November.

On that note, I think that Star Trekkin' must have been added to Spotify pretty recently! https://open.spotify.com/track/6Y7ioa93jA7TvUy2oPRnlm?si=db551d38e86245e9

Every song that has gone platinum despite never reaching the UK Top 40- FULL LIST
Oh yeah, that's a fair point! At the very least, You're Welcome should chart for the first time.

Every song that has gone platinum despite never reaching the UK Top 40- FULL LIST
3x Platinum Dwayne Johnson - You're Welcome [N/A] (10/01/2025) Auli'i Cravalho - How Far I'll Go [55] (11/07/2025) I fancy both of these to go top 40 when the live-action Moana is released next year.

UK #1 Singles Missing from Streaming Platforms
Leon Jackson is presumably because he was dropped by Syco - they also removed Steve Brookstein's releases, and some other releases on their label. Why they'd do so, I have no idea. From this tweet in 2022 and this one from 2020, the organisers themselves don't know why The Justice Collective isn't on Spotify! Hopefully someone like Pop Music Activism can look into it, as it was one of the better charity singles that made Christmas number 1. As for Bob the Builder, that's up to BBC Worldwide Music. Frankly, I don't know why any major single wouldn't be on streaming services, because it's just turning down free income, while making the song inaccessible for fans. I get some artists may have moral reasons for not wanting them on there, but I doubt Bob is one of them. It's pretty strange that we had to wait until 2025 for Blobby on Spotify - as polarising as it is as a song, the fact is that there is a version of it by an artist called Kidzone which has 687k streams! So there are definitely plenty of people who have searched for it.

These are also not on streaming: Leon Jackson - When You Believe The Justice Collective - He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother Bob the Builder - Can We Fix It? All 3 have previously been on streaming, but they haven't been on Spotify for years. Mr Blobby was the only one I think that had NEVER been released digitally, until today!

Peppa Pig is releasing a cover of Last Christmas. Yep. 😆 Apparently Peppa tried to get the Christmas number 1 before, with Bing Bong Christmas. It didn't chart.

OCC: Big Brother's Big Hits
A bit random, but I've been looking for which songs from BB contestants are currently on streaming. Of the 7 that charted, I have found Craig, Samanda, Nadia and Nichola Holt on Spotify. Honey Love by Samanda is on Apple Music, but not on Spotify. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5OhEnjBW6J6FqQVtuGj9LA?si=1ef12de1b28c4214
