  1. Yes, love On The Radio!
  2. Two fantastic dance records to round out your countdown, great choices! Thanks for your hard work @DaTilt , I really enjoyed reading and commenting!
  3. There we go! Thanks for anyone who voted for my simple little Balkan inspired folk ‘lullaby’! And Silent Shout was the other song I considered choosing, so if it wins I’ll be happy and upset at the same time!🤣
  4. Yeah Mama is an excellent song, I love the clattering industrial sounding percussion. Blue World is one I didn’t remember but it sounds great now. Come Back And Stay was part of that great run of Paul Young singles at the time. New Order, excellent as always but Confusion is not my favourite. I like Crushed… but prefer the two previous singles
  5. You win some… you lose some?!
  6. Culture Club - Karma Chameleon Siouxsie And The Banshees - Dear Prudence Howard Jones - New Song The Rocksteady Crew - (Hey You) The Rocksteady Crew The Cure - The Love Cats
  7. Tour De France is great, weird that it became the signature tune for the event it was celebrating. Love the rhythm being set by the cycling and breathing. Red Rex Wine a good reggae cover version that has grown on me over the years. Long Hot Summer is a great jazzy song with sparkling synths. Wings Of A Dove is one of my favourite Madness songs, probably less known than some of their others. I love the gospel vibes. Sun Goes Down is the first of Level 42’s best singles, great jazz funk
  8. Love F You, a big uplifting soulful song which still sounds great, especially in its less played original form.
  9. Uplifting song which like many others I really love but felt it was a bit soured after being hijacked by New Labour. And also stared sometime particle physicist Brian Cox on keyboards.
  10. Club Can’t Handle Me is nothing groundbreaking but it’s a good fun summer anthem.
  11. Another great group. I’m Still Standing one of Elton’s best of the 80s Everything Counts probably the start of ‘moodier’ Depeche Mode, again one of my favourites of theirs. Rockit was groundbreaking and great at the same time Club Tropicana is George writing his out and out euphoric pop song, his best in my opinion. Give It Up was wonderfully summery escapism. The Crown I had actually forgotten about but it’s fantastic old school rap
  12. I do like Telephone but it’s not near to my favourite Gaga songs. Don’t think the duet with Beyoncé completely works for me either
  13. Great choices, love all those songs!
  14. Here’s my #2 rankings Bruce Springsteen - Streets Of Philadelphia Crash Test Dummies - MMM MMM MMM MMM Ace Of Base - The Sign Corona - The Rhythm Of The Night Kylie Minogue - Confide In Me Stone Roses - Love Spreads MC Sar & The Real McCoy - Another Night Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You Let Loose - Crazy For You Toni Braxton - Breathe Again Bon Jovi - Always All-4-One - I Swear Red Dragon - Compliments On Your Kiss Bryan Adams, Rod Stewart & Sting - All For Love Big Mountain - Baby I Love Your Way
  15. Yeah I really like this, very different from the other #1s of the year. Pity it had to have a leg (!) up from a jeans advert, but beggars can’t be choosers!
  16. Just The Way You Are is a bit dull but I can certainly admire the vocals. I think Bruno has had much better, more interesting singles since though.
  17. I know you’re really talking about upward key changes, but I wanted to add one of my nerdy musical loves, the rare downward key change. Rather than hyping up the song, it creates a more somber emotional feeling, and when done well it sounds great! Some examples:- How Will I Know? - Whitney Houston Under The Bridge - Red Hot Chilli Peppers Our House - Madness And my absolute favourite! The Youth - MGMT
  18. Saturday Night is pretty irresistible euro dance, so catchy. Always brings a smile to my face.
  19. Ah I like Dynamite, very catchy energetic and difficult to dislike
  20. Yet more X Factor promoted successes. Not much to offer for me I’m afraid
  21. Replay was nice and summary, even in the winter! I remember it being everywhere just after Christmas. It’s a bit throwaway though really. And now, I’ve also finally found out who the infamous J-J-J-J-R is! Thanks Iz!
  22. All Time Low is okay, quite pleasant in fact, especially the strings at the beginning. But it’s no Glad You Came is it?!
  23. Moonlight Shadow is lovely, very unlike anything Oldfield had done before. I admit I didn’t remember When We Were Young but I like it, certainly a change in direction for Bucks Fizz Forbidden Colours is indeed beautiful. I really like Come Live With Me, the subject matter of age gap relationships was/is controversial though. I.O.U is a song I appreciate more now than then, a great song. Wherever I Lay My Hat is an excellent cover version and it was brave taking on a Marvin Gaye classic
  24. I absolutely love this, her best yet. Apparently co-written and co-produced by James Blake, which makes sense when you hear it.
