I love ‘In Limerence’ so I came here also to recommend Irish singer songwriter Dove Ellis's debut album Blizzard, released on Friday. Gorgeous but idiosyncratic folk with some Jeff Buckley, Rufus Wainwright influences. I’m afraid I’ve become really evangelical about this guy and suggesting him to everyone. He’s certainly blown my album/song of the year lists apart in December. Perfect winter listening, I’m also predicting a Mercury prize win next year, it’s that great!

I can’t recommend these books enough! Wonderfully researched and presented chart/music facts and feats but also great articles and commentary. I find them impossible to put down once I start. I’ve bought each book since ‘1980’ and now look forward to it every year as my Christmas read. It never disappoints! I’ve just received my 1986 copy and it looks great, just have to try to resist reading the whole thing before Christmas!

Also released this week ‘Blizzard’ the debut album by Irish singer songwriter Dove Ellis. Certainly one of the best albums of the year and well worth a listen.

It’s weird but I genuinely didn’t think I’d ever pine for a really big new novelty song at the top, just to bring back a bit of fun and variety to the charts, but here we are! Oh for a Blobby, Bob, Teletubbies or even a Star Trekin or Sugar Sugar!

It’s here! One of my most anticipated albums of the year, after his 3 fantastic single releases. Dove is an Irish singer songwriter with a gorgeous but unique indie folk/rock sound. If you want some references then I can hear some Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, Rufus Wainwright and even some Queen in there, but Dove is definitely his own person. Spotify link if anyone is interested?

Thanks for all your input guys, some fantastic suggestions. Some I’d heard before, some new, but all great and I’m loving working my way through them all leading up to Christmas! At the start of my post I mentioned my favourite is ‘The Gritterman’ and wondered if anyone had listened to it?More like ‘Charlie Brown ..’ in that it’s a score for an illustrated book but I can’t stress how fantastic/gorgeous it is, please give it a go!🙏 You won’t regret it! Just be warned, it may reduce you to tears.
