Afroman - Randy Walters Is A Son Of A B****
Catchiest funniest most brilliant song of the year, and that’s before we even get into the politics! Just need a proper release, though I’m not sure that’s possible given legal implications!

Buzzjack's Ultimate UK Number 8 Single - The Final - Results
Oh no, 3 great songs out there. Especially The Message, one of the pillars of hip hop. Sweet Harmony is gorgeous and Steal My Sunshine is ….. sunshine in a song!

Buzzjack's Ultimate UK Number 8 Single - The Final - Results
I’m sure you’re right. Though I think Shocking Blue’s version was as ‘pop’ as anything else at the time it was released.

Out of interest, do you think Live Forever should be counted as a 90s song (release), or a 2020s song (chart peak) where it has been placed in the chronological order of the finalists? Just wondering as I’ve noticed a few people saying they think that it might win the poll?

underscores - U
Genre chopping Hyperpop with dubstep influence out today. Exhilarating stuff.

Buzzjack's Ultimate UK Number 8 Single - The Final - Results
Bananarama’s version of Venus rated higher than Shocking Blue’s is quite a statement! Famously one of the few examples of both versions reaching US #1

Grace Ives - Girlfriend
Out today, and as good as I hoped it would be!

Muse - The Wow! Signal
Epic!

Buzzjack's Ultimate UK Number 8 Single - The Final - Results
Maybe some found the nearly 10 minute song off putting? Though I’ve always thought ‘What The World…’ is a great song too. My favourite ever Top Of The Pops was in November 1989 when The Stone Roses played Fools Gold and The Happy Mondays were also on there with Hallelujah, both fantastic performances and a breakout moment for indie dance music. Felt like a breath of fresh air at the time, two of ‘my’ bands making it big. Good times!

Ah one of my favourites out first. Fools Gold one of the greatest indie anthems and one of the first to adopt dance music, standing out from everything else including their own fantastic debut album, it was way ahead of its time. Psychedelic funk at its best, I think the band were possessed by the spirit of Sly Stone when they recorded it!

Thomas Dollbaum - Dozen Roses
Excellent soaring new single from the American alt rock artist and poet who is also a carpenter! Taken from the forthcoming album ‘Birds Of Paradise’ which features modern indie rock god MJ Linderman on drums, he also adds a fantastic guitar solo on this lead single.

Geese - Apollo
That sounds great, thanks for posting! I’m going to see them live next week in Manchester and you’ve just added to my excitement, hope they play this and some other new songs. Also, can’t we have a top 10 song? I know it’s very unlikely but I can live in hope!

Truthpaste - Bus Song
One of my favourite new(ish) bands releasing their third single. A bit more uptempo from the first 2 (Bleary Eyes and See You Around), they had a more quirky indie folk vibe a bit like alt-j. Very promising!

I agree, in fact, skimming through I’ve got a feeling there’s a lot of polarising of votes for many of the songs. As a result I think it might be close at the top, or maybe there’s a song I’ve not noticed that’s getting a lot of mid-high votes across the board that could win? Either way I’m really looking forward to seeing the results!

Haute & Freddy - Big Disgrace
That’s interesting, which song did they win with?

Haute & Freddy - Big Disgrace
Don’t know if anyone has had chance to listen to this? Just thought it might be perfect for some of Team Buzzjack.

Gorillaz - The Mountain
The Mountain is my favourite album of the year so far too.

Radio 1 Playlist (13/03/26): I'm dreaming of Orange County American girls like Elizabeth Taylor
Brilliant to see Berghain on the playlist at last, Radio 1 just need to be a bit braver in their choices more often. Gorillaz is also great news, a surprise return after all this time but I suppose making the best album of the year helps!

Haute & Freddy - Big Disgrace
Debut album out today and it’s excellent! The Los Angeles-based synth-pop duo have an 80s sound but very eclectic with definite Gaga and Chappell influences, I can also hear some Madonna and Last Dinner Party in there. They’ve previously written for Katy Perry and Kylie Minogue, and wrote and co-produced for Britney Spears and Calvin Harris. With regency clothing and stage theatrics they are great fun! This is my favourite song from the album so far.

HELP(2)
Yes Magnetic Fields finally getting their props, Olivia’s version is great though. Got my CD too, to go with the original ‘Help’ I bought in the 90s. I remember that ‘Lucky’ was on it, the first track Radiohead ever made available from OK Computer, 2 years before they released the full album. What a coup that was! Hope something on this new one will become as famous.

The Itch - It’s The Hope That Kills You
London alt-pop group The Itch release their debut LP 10th April. On It’s The Hope That Kills You, there’s dance music mixed with electroclash, indie-rock and europop influences . Some Talking Heads, some LCD Soundsystem but also unique sounding. Well worth a listen.

The highest placed non-charttopping track in every weekly UK Singles Chart
Oh Dan I just saw my life flash before me, I’ll be 100 in the 2060s…….. if I live that long! 😩 Fantastic work though, thanks!

HELP(2)
Yes it is! It’s a cover version of a Magnetic Fields song from their brilliant album ‘69 Love Songs’, which is exactly ‘what it says on the tin’, 69 songs about love with loads of different genres. One of my all time favourite albums!

Friday Chart Predictions
Finally got round to listening to the new Gorillaz album and it’s excellent, a real return to form. Will be a deserved number one if it gets there this week
