Maybe pause the countdown for a bit, until you’re able to do it when you can enjoy it yourself, without the stress of trying to squeeze it in around other things?🤔. Might increase the anticipation?😆
Whatever you decide, it’s been brilliant so far, thanks for all your hard work

I have a soft spot for Mardy Bum because it was the first Arctic Monkeys song I ever heard. It was during the MySpace era and before they had had any formal releases. MP3 Demos were also passed from hand to hand and then given out at their concerts so that everyone already knew all the songs. It eventually led to their debut singles and especially album releases having massive opening sales. That’s all my favourite 4 gone, sadly none made the top 10 but the remaining songs are all really good so not too disappointed.

And the last of my top 3 goes out.
Let It Happen was my song of the year in 2015, in fact one of my favourites of the whole 2010s. An epic disco pop prog psychedelic masterpiece.
I love that it starts simply but, especially in the second half, so many new melodies are added leading to the fantastic ending.
Surprised but very happy it did so well.

Thanks! Yes you articulated it much better than me. Later albums may be groundbreaking and innovative, but Rubber Soul is just more enjoyable I suppose?

Ooh I would love to see what you guys voted for in a Beatles rate! So sad I missed that. Where would I find the results on the forum?

ErrorLove Talking Heads, they never seemed to follow trends, doing their own thing. Sometimes a bit odd but always interesting, and groundbreaking in their use of African rhythms. I like Psycho Killer but they would go on to greater things
Rubber Soul is my favourite Beatles album (probably controversial), I remember my mum was especially fond of it. I think it’s their most consistently great album, In My Life is one of the more thoughtful moments on there but is still fantastic.
I can only be happy at a Bowie song appearing so high, even if it’s not one of my favourites
Surprised at Bryan Adams going out so early, when I guessed at what I thought might be the #1 on the rate before you started the countdown, Summer Of 69 was one of 3 songs I thought might do it. The other 2 are still to come.

I Wanna Be Yours- I like the Arctics but think they're pretty overrated, AM is still a good album though. This isn't one of my favourites on it, much prefer "R U Mine" and "Do I Wanna Know".
What You Know- one of my favourite British indie rock songs!
I agree but would add Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High?, with it’s fantastic Dr Dre inspired beat, as another favourite from AM.

Producer: Björn Yttling (remix produced by The Magician)
UK chart peak: did not chart
Achieved platinum status on 30/08/2024

Lowest scorers: chartjack2 2, Brer 4, Uls2000 4
"I Follow Rivers" is taken from Lykke Li's second album Wounded Rhymes, released in 2011. The most popular version of the track is a 90s-inspired dance remix by The Magician which helped the single become a European smash hit, peaking at number 2 in Ireland and number 1 in countries such as Italy and Germany. Despite the European success the song has never charted in the UK.
Another of my top 3 goes out, I love ‘I Follow Rivers’. I’d never heard this remix before and I’m sorry I don’t think it brings anything useful, instead removing all of the distinctiveness and frankly oddness that makes it such a fantastic song and replacing it with a standard disco beat and house piano making it sound like a million other songs😔

I find it really sad that Vampire Weekend are only known to most of the UK public for A-Punk (or The Inbetweeners). It has always been one of my least favourites by them. They’re a fantastic band, I think one of the very best of the 21st Century and brilliant live too!

Producer: Steve Albini
UK chart peak: did not chart
Achieved platinum status on 24/06/2022
Top scorers: Brer 48, gasman449 48, Jaz13music 48
Lowest scorers: CowTzy 2, GreyAsh 2, Viper* 4
The biggest seller from Pixies is this track from their 1988 album Surfer Rosa. Written by Black Francis after he was chased by a fish while swimming in the Caribbean, the song gained wider popularity after it was memorably used in the closing scene from the classic 1999 David Fincher film Fight Club. It enjoyed a long run in the indie chart across 2022 thanks to TikTok virality.Sadly the first of my really high scorers to go. The Pixies are one of my all time favourite bands, Where Is My Mind? wouldn’t be amongst my absolute favourites of theirs but that’s no slight as the standard of their back catalogue is set so high. I once feared they would remembered only as critical darlings and a major influence on Nirvana, so I’m glad at least one of their songs is successful in the UK.

She's Electric- my least favourite of the 3 Oasis finalists but still one of the songs I'm most fond of by them. Liam is at his most listenable here! We did well on the 3 Oasis finalists we chose, good job everyone 😁
I’d be interested to know how Acquiesce voting had been going before it became ineligible, it was my favourite of the Oasis songs that were initially available. Would you be able to give your opinion on how you thought it might have done in the end? But after the final results countdown of course 😊.

Taken from the Beatles' 1968 album, Paul wrote "Blackbird" after hearing a blackbird's chirps while the band were in India. The lyrics were inspired directly by the civil rights movement in America. Only Paul performs on the track and he was its sole writer despite the Lennon-McCartney credit.Apparently one of Beyoncé’s favourite songs (she covered it on her Cowboy Carter album) due to it’s connection to the American civil rights movement. A very simple but powerful song!

RATE: Buzzjack's Ultimate Platinum Non-Top 40 Single: The Final
in UK Charts
Thanks Julian that was a really interesting read. Glad to see my personal favourite, Across The Universe, made it in!
I’m useless because I’ve been a Buzzjack member for almost a year now and still haven’t ventured far from this little corner (UK Chart Forum) into all the other areas, so I’ve been missing out on stuff like this. I’ve seen mentions, in threads, of personal charts (is anyone allowed to start a thread, could I put my own lists in there?), and a Buzzjack Song Contest which also sound interesting.
I need to get out more obviously😆.
