1 What Do You Mean? 2 Cold Water 3 Daisies 4 Despacito 5 Sorry 6 Love Yourself 7 I’m The One 8 I Don’t Care Though Where Are U Now? would be number 1 if it had got to number 1 (if that makes any sense)!

Oasis first 2, then the Stones for all the others
  3. Just reading the discussion about Mr Brightside sales and I hadn’t thought about it before, but is it possible it could reach the incredible 10 million milestone by the end of the decade? Could Last Christmas also manage it, which one is likely to be first do you think?
  4. 12 to 12 sounds like a huge hit to me, maybe a future number one……but then again I’m usually wrong about these things!
  5. Wow, new Tame Impala is epic! Most dance oriented since Let It Happen. Fantastic!

Finally had a proper listen to Daisies, great song, you can definitely hear the Dijon and Mk.gee influence. Bieber has always seemed to find the right collaborators at the right time, definitely still got his finger on the pulse!

    RIP Ozzy, an absolute giant!😔

That Jim Legxacy album/mixtape is excellent!
  10. Oh no, not again!!🤣
  11. Oh no, that’s 3 of my top 4 gone out now (4 out of the top 6 if you count Acquiesce from the original lists). Fade Into You is really lovely American alt rock. Something Good Can Wait is excellent, loved it since the initial release and pleased it has become more popular over the years.
  12. This is the greatest and best song in the world!
  13. Yeah that’s the one. I agree it doesn’t change my enjoyment of the song much either. I suppose I’m still bitter about the slightly unnecessarily heavy handed SAW lawyers at the time 😆
  14. I’m afraid I’ve gone a bit mad on this today after going through some of my favourites of the year lists! Seconding the already mentioned Raving I’m Raving by Shut Up And Dance - #2 single banned after 2 chart weeks due to its sample One of the UKs greatest and most influential number 1s (sorry I couldn’t find the other thread) Pump Up The Volume by MARRS in its original release WITH the ‘Roadblock’ sample (can’t even find that on YouTube) Bit more obscure, the fantastic I’m Leaving by Lodger #40 single 1998. Soldier Girl by Polyphonic Spree in its superior single version, #26 in 2003 Yeah Yeah Yeahs debut self titled EP from 2001 One of my favourite Christmas songs A Merry Jingle by The Greedies (Thin Lizzy and Sex Pistols) #28 in 1979 Finally I’d love the Dan Lissvik remix of Haim’s Send Me Down (B side to Don’t Save Me) on streaming, just because it’s absolutely brilliant!
  15. Best new song this week, the wonderful Taxes by Geese!

I agree except that Humbug includes my favourite Arctic Monkeys song, Cornerstone….., but that’s probably just me! 🤣
  17. No problem, if that happens could I have Stevie Nicks as my reserve +1 vote and move all my others up 1 place please?

  19. Yeah maybe I was being a bit too sarcastic😂. More seriously though, is this the right place to share something new that you feel others might be interested in, especially if it’s a song/artist that’s less well known?
  20. I apologise for posting this amongst the Oasis stuff but I’ve become ever so slightly obsessed with this fantastic country ballad released on Wednesday so felt I had to share it. Starts off simply but then grows into this magnificent Pogues or Dexys like crescendo. It’s absolutely beautiful. Maybe any Zach Bryan fans might like it?
  21. Thank you that’s great! Sorry, I got quite a few of my initial estimates wrong this time, so I’m very grateful for your help. Great to see Good luck, Babe! get the number 1 though. Like you, I checked and double checked the figures with the feeling that it couldn’t be ahead of Billie since their positions seem to be reversed in all the other cumulative lists. As jimwatts says it’s odd to see a top 2 that didn’t reach a weekly number one. Reminds me of ‘Love The Way You Lie’ being end of year number 1 back in the day. Sabrina’s great 12 months is reflected in 3 songs in the top 7 (4 in the top 30). Will her new album be as successful I wonder? Hopefully if we do an end of Q3 list it will be a bit fresher though. Are we expecting Alex to have ascended to number 1 by then?
  22. I’ve had a go at another rolling 12 month best sellers list, this time July ‘24 to June ‘25 (end of Q2). Thanks again to you all on this thread for any data I’ve adapted. I’m hoping the top 30 are fairly accurate but any corrections/comments are very welcome. In particular some of the sales totals are very close this time (particularly at the top) so any errors could easily affect the positions. I struggled a bit more with trying to get accurate sales figures for positions 30-40 when a lot of the older songs become a factor, so if anyone can help with those I would be very grateful. I estimate Iris plus Carry You Home, maybe Red Wine Supernova and Dreams, and obviously Mr Brightside are in there somewhere! 1 Chappell Roan - Good Luck, Babe! 1.565m 2 Billie Eilish - Birds Of A Feather 1.561m 3 Sabrina Carpenter - Espresso 1.551m 4 Benson Boone - Beautiful Things 1.430m 5 Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars - Die With A Smile 1.390m 6 Sabrina Carpenter - Taste 1.350m 7 Sabrina Carpenter - Please Please Please 1.317m 8 Shaboozey - A Bar Song (Tipsy) 1.293m 9 Rose & Bruno Mars - APT. 1.290m 10 Gracie Abrams - That’s So True 1.260m 11 Chappell Roan - Pink Pony Club 1.260m 12 Teddy Swims - Lose Control 1.260m 13 Post Malone ft Morgan Wallen - I Had Some Help 1.260m 14 Myles Smith - Stargazing 1.219m 15 Teddy Swims - The Door 1.118m 16 Lola Young - Messy 1.170m 17 Gigi Perez - Sailor Song 1.170m 18 Hozier - Too Sweet 1.168m 19 Alex Warren - Ordinary 1.096m 20 Noah Kahan - Stick Season 1.040m 21 Chappell Roan - Hot To Go 1.025m 22 Bl3ss & CamrinWatsin ft BbyClose - Kisses 1.000m 23 Dasha - Austin 0.959m 24 Sonny Fodera, Jazzy & D.O.D. - Somedays 0.880m 25 Billie Eilish - Wildflower 0.860m 26 Chrystal - The Days 0.850m 27 Gracie Abrams - I Love You, I’m Sorry 0.850m 28 Kendrick Lamar - Not Like Us 0.824m 29 Sabrina Carpenter - Bad Chem 0.79m 30 Teddy Swims - Bad Dreams 0.77m Interestingly the 2024 year end and the likely 2025 year end number ones are sitting together in the middle of the list, perhaps suggesting what I suspected, that a January to December list is no longer fully reflecting the biggest songs of the year in the streaming era.
  23. Am I right in saying there’s still 5 songs on track for a second year of a million sales? I know the sales might drop off before year end but it would be unprecedented if it continued. Benson looking the most likely to achieve it, and join an exclusive club atm though.

  25. I’m afraid I’ve lost 10 songs and it’s a shame Redbone went out on the tiebreaker. Not too disappointed though as I think there’s so many great songs left. Really enjoying the write ups and already looking forward to the semi finals. Thanks!
