I had this convo on reddit yesterday funny enough about someone else, but I feel like people both underestimate and overestimate the power of nepotism in 2024. Nepotism can get you important connections and money to throw possibly endlessly at a career til you've exhausted your chances or become successful, and that stuff shouldnt be understated. But it doesn't matter how much you throw at your career if people don't connect to your music. You can have all the money in the world and it won't buy you unfiltered spotify streams. Look at Katy Perry. She has money, a huge machine behind her, and name value and all that got her was a week in the top 5 of the albums chart behind albums that had been out for months and a couple songs in the bottom half of the top 100 singles. Even in the US where you can buy radio play that helps your chart position, she topped out in the 60s with Woman's World, and Lifetimes didn't even chart.

Man next week Sailor song or ILYIS might actually pass taste. I think Taste has it on lock this week, especially thanks to other services, but they're staying stable or growing hotter and taste has slowly dropped. The only thing that might stop one of them from #1 is if the internet is correct that a surprise drop will happen October 18th (they still haven't convinced me)

It's a thing right now all over social media. I don't really get it either, she's not my cup of tea but she's not like bad or anything. The flip side of the coin though is thst this hate she's getting is the best thing for her career. The surge in popularity she's seen globally almost perfectly coincides with the hate she's gotten. I have a theory that these people who hate artists think they're going to convince others that the artist is terrible, but all they do is expose new people to an artist who they end up liking.

I like bed chem for a top 10 hit next week. If it maintains and we get the ACR clear out that we expect, right now it's top 5 on both spotify and Apple Music for non-ACR songs

It'll be interesting to see how far Kisses, Hot to Go, and Taste can go. They're still scoring quite a bit of points and only 100-150k seperate them from current 40th which got 8k last week.
