The Song is the 2nd oldest to reach 1 Billion and was uploaded in 2009 and originally released in 1976. Bohemian Rhapsody is the oldest to reach the 1 billion mark, it was released in 1975 and uploaded in 2008

Thank you to whoever it was that moved this to the right place for me.

One Billion Views. (sorry if this is the wrong place)
  6. I haven't looked totally close to this, but at first glance the Album charts would have at least 19 Albums excluded from it's current Top 50 and the Australian Artist charts would be almost wiped, at least in the singles area. It is certainly a different approach then the much maligned ACR rules currently in place in the UK.

So Glad for Kylie. Surprised for Roy and Vera, sort of felt considering the history of both songs that they would of been certified higher but now. I don't know the ins and outs of how the BPI credits things though Nice to see Yazoo on the list <3
  9. Yeah, last column does look a bit out of synch. Gotta love the ability of ABBA though, selling 2k more this year than the Album has sold overall. I am jesting, you do a great job putting all this together :)
  10. Blamed by who? You? I find her boring, my opinion as you have yours.
  11. To me it is the same old. From the opening beat of all the songs I've heard so far,you just know it is her. I am not saying that is a bad thing, iconic artists tend to do that (Think Tina, before a lyric was sung, you just knew it was her) and I am geniunely impressed that people are getting into it. I just dont find this era new or fresh but streaming numbers suggest other wise
  12. I must say streaming numbers can humble ones opinions. I have found this era of Lady Gaga to be stock standard and formula driven and it belongs in the past. She could of done these same songs 15-20 years ago. These streaming numbers say otherwise. It could be partly because she is a legacy act and that generates interest (Kylie for example) and it could be it;s a sound that resonates at this time or combination of both. Either way, good luck to her
  13. I am glad I started this thread, the differing opinions are awesome and well thought out backed with solid evidence. the replies also highlight what we sort of knew I think, it is complicated and the only thing more complicated is the way forward to make the charts still relevant
  14. Please don't be sorry for something you are doing that brings enjoyment to others <3 Maybe official certifications is the way to go? of course that brings up the question of 3 albums being certified as one in Queens Case. I think I will go back and sit in the corner and let you get on with something that you do so well lol
  15. Why the 970,000 decrease in ABBA Gold ? I love the format <3
  16. Maybe Chartex? It seems to of disappeared
  17. Quite a few things have been stated here that I really hadn't entertained before. Very decent!
  18. This is only my opinion, but I feel it is much more widespread. We see posters urging it all the time on multiple forums and groups. We know record companies were organizing copies of singles/Albums to be purchased from "Chart listed stores" back in the day but it was weeded out alot. It's almost impossible with streaming. We see it all the time with songs bouncing all over the place without a publicity push. A version of payola is alive and well and know one will be saying anything publically. The last time someone spoke out, he was gunned down in Music lane in 1989. Just my opinion
  19. Seems more representative to me rather than someone playing a song 10 times in the correct way that counts then uses multiple VPN ip's to repeat the process. I could purchase the same song in 4 or 5 different ways before I would run out of cards etc to continue (and someone would need to be reimbursing me to buy the same song 4 or 5 times). If I chose too (and I know people who do this) I could generate 100's of valid streams in a day. I said earlier that I do not have any answers to fix this mess, all I know the charts cannot continue in it's current format
  20. This is the closest to what I am getting at. I think OCC should be clearly seperating these achievements. What should be reported is "Artist B number 1 streaming record stands next to the number 1 physical sales record of Artist A"
  21. As it should be, one listen one sale, ip excluded from there on. that includes vpn ip's.
  22. I'm not sure where you are going with this. My point in this thread is 300k people got in the car, bus, train and went to brick and mortar to buy that song. 301k turned on the phone and asked AI (slight overreach on both sides, but you get the drift). Is it really comparable in the artist with 301k streaming gains a reward for over taking a song that 300k actually got out of the house to buy
  23. Excellent point, but we are in a forum that prefers constant change rather then what people are listening too. Maybe we should have "Legendary" posters to go along with "Legendary Artists". You know, out of touch with todays music but still involved (I'm joking before anyone says anything)
  24. I get that. I think it was two years ago on the US Charts, the number 1 album had sold 2k of physicals and ABBA's "Voyage" had sold 77k physical and came in at number 2 and I was like "how does that happen?"
  25. I think I touched on everything you have said. So many areas though that the basic question I asked could go lol
