I never noticed until this election just how bias the media are against the Republicans :lol: I think it's funny that people are viewing Obama as some sort of Saviour sent to help America. the fact is that if he wins, the novelty of having a black president will wear off after a month and when it comes to implementing his change, nothing's going to happen. Either that or he'll have to dramatically increase taxes in order to fulfill some of them. Personally I think McCain/Palin is a stronger ticket. She may not have had much political experience, but she's sure as hell a tough nut, and in Alaska she has something like an 80% approval rating, which is impressive. Republicans ftw!

ELLEGARDEN held the #1 for many days, but ultimately it was not meant to be. Ayaka manages to hold another week in the top 3, which surprises me, but in a very good way. Female alternative artist Shiina Ringo's BSide collection "Watashi to Hoden" enters lower than people would expect, though her sales aren't as steller as they once her. Her album "Kalk Samen Kuri no Hana" is regarded by many as one of the greatest Japanese albums of the decade, and has huge critical acclaim for being written in perfect symmetry and in acient Japanese. Ketsumeishi obviously have gone wrong somewhere in the last year, and their album takes a sharp drop downwards, while just above it B'z continue an average [for them] chart run. Although a million looks far away, the album could hit around 950K. In the singles, YUI has yet another #1, following on from the succes of her third album "I LOVED YESTERDAY" Although this single doesn't have amazing sales, her singles are very consistent in the amount that they sell. Arashi seem to buck the Johnny's trend this week, by not nose-diving down the charts, although this could be due to the huge tie in of the "Hana Yori Dango" movie. GReeeeN are holding up strong still, mihimaru GT don't exactly have a huge hit on their hits.

No worries, I don't think people realise just how big the industry there is, like i've said before it's second only to the US :D the week before B'z opened with around 570K, and the hghest of the year was just under 700K by EXILE. Good to hear GReeeeN's new album has shipped so much! :o it's such a success for them, as is Hikki's new album, she totally understands the digital market

The Japanese music market is the second largest in the world behind the US :D Yeah, radio kinda is irrelevant nowadays. I mean there are still big radio songs, like "Ai Uta" last year, but most radio stations just play very few Japanese songs and lots of American songs..and really not many people listen to it [which is why the ~billboard~ chart looks so different to the real chart.] When you can download full songs to your mobile via chaku-uta and other things there isn't a need for radio. Hope that helps :P

This is especially evident in the album chart. Leading the pack is hip hop/pop/rock group GReeeeN, with their sophmore offering "A, Domo. Ohisashiburi Desu" which is riding on the success of their huge #1 "Kiseki." This isn't their first taste of success however. Last year they had one of the biggest radio hits of the year with "Ai Uta" and their debut album also has now sold in excess of 500K. The #2 spot goes to the female branded as the "Artist of the Future" - Ayaka. With her "First Message" era she had debut success not seen since the breakthrough of Utada Hikaru in 1998/99. Despite her sophmore only reaching the #2 spot, it's actually only sold about 35K less than her debut "First Message" achieved in the first week. Ketsumeishi is a surprise at a surprisingly low #3, being a huge act who many predicted would get the #1 like so many times before with their "Ketsunopolisu" series. Unfortunately however this was not to be, and they have to settle for 3rd place. B'z continue selling strong with their newest best, which is to be superceded by a collection in September of songs chosen by the fans, entitled "ULTRA TREASURE." Jero also makes a promising debut after the success of his first single, with a mini-abum of enka covers. In the singles, Arashi add yet another #1 to their ever growing belt of success, this time the songs is tied in to the "Hana Yori Dango Movie." At #2 however, we once again see the comedic boyband Shuchishin, who gave Ayumi Hamasaki a close scare earlier in the year with their debut single [which re-appears in the top 10 this week at #9.] The question is, how long will it be before they run out of steam? Their next single is set to go head to head with the behemoth that is Mr. Children, so only time will tell if they can take them on. DREAMS COME TRUE score another top 10 hit, which follows onto the surprising success of their last album "AND I LOVE YOU" although I would have hoped for higher single sales. Though like Utada, thy are very reliant on their tie-ins, and the tie in for this strong was not strong. GReeeeN are still going strong at #7 with their highest selling single yet, nd at #10 we see younger sister of Koda Kumi, misono take on the top 10, which is one of her first tastes of success in a long time. her sister is just one pace below her with "MOON" which originally reaced #2 just 4 weeks previously.
