  2. I don't like the way she markets herself. "Birth of Hip Pop" my ass, there's already a Queen :D dbFSys1c-_w
  3. Namie's best song: TN82hBd45O0 LOL isn't it the most ~so bad it's good~ pv you have ever seen? The full version of the song is epic though <3
  4. Lol I hate Namie more and more as time goes on  It's not being released as a single, it's a promo track for DOUBLE for her "BEST Collaborations" album. :D DOUBLE used to be a duo until one of them died of a brain tumor or something ~
  5. Okay. Utada Hikaru came here, made a video for ''You Make Me Want To Be A Man'' released numerous promo remixes as well as 2 CDs and Vinyls and had MTV specials conducted by MTV, not to mention the widespread but loyal Japanese/Asian music fanbase as well as UK secial edition of her ~English~ album..the single reached #227 and the album didn't chart. [2004] In recent times [ie since 2008] Rie fu released an album of both Japanese and English works, and has been promoting as much as possible on an indie label..yet even online suppliers didn't even stock her alabum, it took about a month for my copy to arrive and I pre-ordered it. And for an example with Shakira.. "La Tortura" was promoted on TV, not to mention she has a solid fanbase in the UK and the song was getting some positive respinses from non-fans here..yet the release was pulled. Jennifer Lopez, someone who is [or was ~lulz~] a huge star here tried to promote her spanish single here yet it was never released due to fears of underperforming. And since when has anyone seen or heard of Daddy Yankee since in the UK? That seems pretty much the case of an anomaly if you ask me. The fact is the UK is xenophobic towards artists either: a| Not releasing in thr English language. b| Not being British or American.
  6. Surely the reputation of ignorance is more than enough to stop anyone even trying to. Even english language songs by non US artists [especially Asian] usually bomb, even WITH promotion. Most people usually can't see past the US for their music, and that's a sad fact that so many people are that narrowminded. And surely there's anomalies to everything? besides, it was released around the time of summer, people would go abroad and hear it, come back and download, plus Westood hyped it unrationally at the time.

  8. The UK is pretty much against anything not in their own language except for when it's some cheap-ass novelty $h!t and that's a fact. but let's be honest, since when have the UK charts been a measure of a quality song?
  9. I'd prefer Livingstone personally, as much as I hate the congestion charge

I never actually said a boycott of the Olympic games is a good idea..I said that it would cripple us just as much as it would be negative publicity and further claims of infringes of human rights for you. And if you don't believe reputable news sites like CNN and BBC..what about the exiled Tibetan government? I mean I'm sure there's a middle ground between what them and the Chinese government are claiming, but I don't see how it's possible to say that there were more deaths caused by monks..especially when they live a live of peace and believe in non-violent methods of protestation. I'm sure they don't force all their ideas on the people..but if they really want something then it will be, like making Chinese the official language in Tibet rather than Tibetan [i think you got confused here that I was saying there are more Chinese people in tibet than its natives..i should have clarified :P] 1| I wouldn't try to ignite anything..what i would try to do is sort out the the obvious problems with my country. I know this is easier said than done due to the vast size and differentiating dialects, but they've had over four years to at least TRY to sort out some problems. 2| No matter what happens anywhere in the world..the media will exaggerate it..it's part of the job description..however not all media outlets are like that, there are many very reliable journalists and magazines 3| The protests are usually peaceful until the army/police come to 'stop' them... and i'm actually speaking from near-personal experience on this. 4| Nobody is going to benefit.. but the more the government represses and tries to stop news of it's abuses getting out the more obvious it becomes that it is happening and that more needs to be done about it. I don't understand these two questions sorry D: 7| there is no such thing as absolute justice in politics, but there is for injustice..for the people of whatever realm it concerns anyway 8| It depends on the riot..the extent of the damage..what the riot is about, and whether the country can economically/politically risk doing such a thing. There are so many factors involved. 你有良好的英语. 我只會說一點兒中國話。 D:

I'll agree that the media is very anti-China in the west. The population of Tibetans has actually gone down in the last 10 years, while the amount of Chinese people entering the region has increased..Chinese has become the premier language of the sub country. Governments throughout the world encourage certain things, but for the most part their ideas aren't somehow forced onto the public. The sterilisation matter was uncovered recently by a documentary on which interviewed a woman claiming she either pay an unreasonable amount of money per month for her children, or be forcibly sterilised by the government. In China, there are 3,500 executions a year..I don't think the size of the country makes a difference, since Iran is smaller than the U.S and had 160 executions last year [population of 70 million] while the US had 60 [Population of 300 million] - the US has 20 Executions per 100 million people, while China has 270. Obviously i'm not blaming the people here such as yourself...it's the regime and the government. things have gotten better obviously and I'm sure they will continue to.. but there are insane violations that are happening, and yes, free speech does effect everyone.. just like any political issues. 1| What about the forced sterilisations [especially in Tibet] that have been kept such a well hidden secret? 3| Not every country tells its citizens what to do, earn and think..the ability to use your own mind and achieve/do what you want is part of freedom. The repression of many websites on the internet is just one way the right of freedom is not able to be fully excercised within Chinese territory. 4| ''Playing It Safe'' is not why journalists pursue the career that they have, and the authorities not allowing gaijin's in is hiding the truth of the regime. 5| Then that is not free speech..that is repression. I don't think anyone is saying China is ''hell'' - It's a very beautiful and diverse country with a fascinating history, but for the most part it isn't free..and the repression of it's people and their rights is not at all justifiable.

  16. Not only immature, but gross
  17. The song or the album? FoL -Ballad Version- is like my favourite song ever, but it may have something to do with the fact that I loved the drama it was tied in with

In all honesty, what can be done? As said previously, boycotting will punish only our athletes, and protesting seems to do nothing, although I agree something must be done, the way in which Tibetan's are treated is thoroughly disgusting and the Chinese government is nothing more than a repressive regime. Though it is understandable why nobody is willing to speak out or act too harshly.. would you like be on the wrong side of China? The only thing I can think of that would work would be ban on Chinese imports.. though that would cripple us just as much as them.

Tila is God, and everything she does is Godly D:
  20. I love Namie's bad english XD where she says ''Poppin' My Body'' I thought she was saying ''Open My Body..I Keep Open My Body'' LOL
  21. I really like it, though really half the album is singles and I loved all them XD I wouldn't rate it as good as ''DEEP RIVER'' or ''ULTRA BLUE'' but I think it's probably her most cohesive piece of work since her debut album. And you all missed ''Flavor of Life'' off your favourites, which is like.. ~best song ever~ :P
  22. Deffinately the 90s <3 Alanis, Smashing Pumpkins, Hole, Namie Amuro, ZARD, the brilliant green etc etc..
  23. And I suppose that you have been in the recording studio to tell me i'm wrong? And plenty of gay fans weren't around in the 90s when she went ~indie~ it wasn't until ''Spinning Around'' when she went blatant with it that any gay fans went back to her. I'm not denying that she hasn't had longevity or that she can't put on a show, i'm just saying she wouldn't be anything without the producers, stylists and lyricists that she needs to work with to keep her somewhat relevent. Even in the era when she had most creative/artistic control, people were still for the most part telling her what to do/collaborating with her, it was just less successful. so longevity is more important than relevance and respect as a musical artist? and what about Nana Mouskouri, Cher, Barbara Streisand etc, they've been going for many decades longer than both Kylie and Madonna.
  24. and how is my point pointless because you don't agree with it dannyboy. It's a well known fact Kylie has little control over her image or the songs, even she will admit it, so i don't see why you don't  Even when she shows the slightest attempts at artistic creativity and self-devlopment, the second it flops on its ass she'll go to milking the gays and the lowest common denominator to get some sales. Sure, Michael & Madonna etc will have people to help them, but the artist themselves will lead the project, unlike Kylie who will do what she's told. She's nothing more than an over glorified Rachel Stevens.. and that's fact. [=

Shakira was promoted to DJs as an ''urban artist'' to DJs o: A few days ago I won some 12'' DJ promo vinyls off ebay [Objection/Te Aviso Te Anuncio/UYC] and inside the UYC one were lots of sheets [like the DJ must fill them in to send back to the record company because they ask about how people react to the song and stuff.] Well anyway, there was also a press release with it, and it's from the ''Urban Division'' of Sony BMG, and describes the song as ''latin R&B with her the rock chick shining through!'' and it gives loads of website links to places like ''so-urban.com'' and contact details to people within the Sony urban divison. I know this is random but I thought it's worth saying  Though the sheet is pretty informative. By the time the ''Objection'' promo vinyl was being distributed, LS had sold 9 Million WW, and had been in the UK Top 40 Album Chart for #31 weeks o: and it also lists the countries at the time of which sales status it had achieved. Remember this was before the end of the era so sales will be higher but: 5x Platinum: India/Venezuela 4x Platinum: Canada, Colombia, Egypt, Spain, Switzerland 3x Platinum: US, Australia 2x Platinum: Central America, Ecuador, Germany, Italy, New Zealand, Portugal, Turkey 1x Platinum: UK  Remember though that in the end it sold over 1 million copies in the UK, so sales obviously went up in all those other countries also D:
